How difficult for a Mangala, for a Kamli, for a Nimboli, for a Urmi to make things better and safe!

Forget for a moment that they were offered help. Many do not get that type of offer also.

Except Kamli and Urmi, Mangala and Nimboli have no access to phones. They have to steal them for some time.

Mangala always has some change or a few rupees. Who gives her pocket money? Or she sells some gold and saves that money. Maybe.

Next to go out of home is also a problem. Usually they have to tell that they are visiting temples.

And its a small place and everyone can recognise anyone. Hence the shawl or pallu may save for a while.

They dont have decent roads. They have to walk on kachcha dust roads, sometimes without footwear too.

Even using a public telephone is risky and unpredictable.

They have to live amidst all this because the head of the family is a vicious man. While Kamli at her sasural and Urmi at her mayka had better lives.

Now Akheraj knowing their secret and facing his punishment. It maybe murder or rape. Who knows?

Yeah feels really bad to see that every basic human rights are denied to them.

Widows like Mangala has a really terrible life. Those like harki have more rights. Atleast they don't have to take permission for every small thing to do.

Felt really bad for Mangala when she was phoning from PCO. Even initiatives like digital india may not reach to people like Mangala because the male members would say what they would do with a phone.

We take everything for granted.

Whine when we cant buy the latest smartphone.

Curse the traffic jams.

Curse when call drops.

Would kill if somebody tries to curtail our freedom of movement.

Feel bored and go for shopping to get some relief from boredom.

Spend money like water and feel happy.

Go to films and restaurants with friends without any problem.

Let us be grateful for all these things and try to help if not empathise with the have nots.

Nimboli finds happiness in small things. Eating even a tomato or travelling by a ramshackle bus or truck, forget BMWs. Finding happiness in sunbeams and rains.

We hear that they want to ban cellphones for girls. And restricting where they go, when they go, with whom they go.

We will leave out Kamili and Urmi because they have some connections with the world that lies outside of Akheraj's house.
Nimboli's connections with the outside world have been deliberately hidden from Nimboli by the inmates of Akheraj household to serve the interests of various members of that family Kamili and Kundan both were kids so they too believed what was told to them by the elders of the family So her case cannot be discussed.

That leaves out only Mangala. Yes she cannot be blamed for the circumstances that she found herself in.Her own family doesn't care. Her husband even before he died he stopped caring for her when it became obvious she couldn't give him kids. The only person who cares for her in that house is the very same man who killed her husband. He would like to get a lot from her.
Fair enough she has no means to prove that he murdered her husband.
Fair enough if she decided to stay back in that house because she entered that house as a bride of the son of the family and thus she is a full fledged member of the family.
She also is not short of money. She obviously is getting money from the man of the family or head of the family.

She considers herself as a member of he family. She even volunteered to represent the family at that annual temple event which the family follows during Gopal murder time. In that mela at that temple she was representing Akheraj family. She knows her status in the family .So she considers herself as one among the family.

She does give her opinions on matters of interest to her.Her brother in law does listen to her advice too. So it cannot be said that she has no voice or words fall on deaf ears. The said vicious man does follow her advice and she knows how to make the man listen to him too .At times by blackmailing him and at times telling him how it will be in his own interest.

She fully cooperated with the vicious man when he decided to hide the fact that the two girls are child brides. Was it done out of some helplessness or was it done because her interests lie in concealing the truth about child marriages that have taken place in that house?

What is she doing with the allowance that she gets? What prevented her from saving and buying a phone? She obviously doesn't have to pay for her food and shelter so what does she do with the money?

She does move out of the house at her wish and will. She doesn't have to take permission from anyone. In villages for widows temple meets are social occasions where they get meet other people. So what stops her from establishing contacts through those temple visits if she desired so?

She shares a great rapport with the temple priest who is a good man. What stopped her from using that contact and knowing about ways of the world enquiring about other avenues and alternatives if the life has become unbearble at Akheraj household?

She doesn't do work at home. Most of the time she sits in her room.Nobody forces her to come into the kitchen do the work.

So what exactly is Mangala losing by living in that house?

Life is indeed very difficult and very different from what we experience. This is just a story - but even in real life - the life of so many people are full of thorns.

Akhera cares for Mangala🤣 good, and he listens to her advice - more good. And this IS Mangala's family - why it is thought that she only considers this as her family? As elders bahu of the house - she has as much right on this home as Harki. Mangala going to temple is logical - she is the elder bahu. Anything and everything that happens in serial will be used to bash Mangala.

Why would akhiraj give money to Mangala when he doesn't give even 100 rupees to his own daughter to buy books? Maybe she is having her husband's savings kept with her to use in crisis. She can not risk to spend them on phone or even if she wish to buy a phone, would akhiraj allow her to buy one? wouldn't he cut her into pieces for doing something which is not allowed to Widows?
Wherever she goes she goes after permission. For representing akhiraj family at temple she requested them to allow her to go.
Regarding advice, her advice is not binding on akhiraj.

And if Mangala had so many rights in akhiraj house, I would have never wished her to leave that hell. @Aparna
