From the CVs / channel's perspective, this seems like bringing more drama, so as to increase the TRPs. And no matter how much most of us disliked it, I've seen enough shows to predict that this sequence and its repercussions are indeed going to fetch them TRPs. This will lead to MU, mini-separation, finding out the actual truth, punishing the culprit, uniting ShaNoj, and so on and so forth.
From the story's perspective, it definitely feels forced. But so does pregnancy, miscarriage, and the sentiment after that. In fact, what they're doing now, had they used this during sautan saga, it'd have more sense.
And as far as reaction to Shagun is concerned, I don't think it has hampered her image that much. She was already being considered omnipresent (and not in a good way) before today. Personally, I don't hate her more because of today, its the same amount of dislike as it was yesterday or day before. And looking at things, her involvement in everything is only going to increase.
This is such a cliched sequence for any desi show. Why I am grossed out is because YHM was not a cliched show, and why I never expected to see such a scenario playing out between Raman and Shagun here. (Although after the intense rain hugs, I knew something bigger was coming up)
The answer to everything is that all of this means only one thing - SP & BT are trying very hard to bring YHM up the charts, which they could have done using meaningful, non telly-soapish tracks too, but then, what can I say.
