In defence of Sukruti

Much has been said and written about Sukruti's (abominable) behaviour in the last two weeks. While I agree with most of the allegations, I still think we cannot lay all the balme on this poor girl. So I have taken it upon myself to try to explain (if not defend) her actions.

Allegation No.1: Why did she not tell her bro about her pregnancy and child birth?

Well this is a valid allegation considering all that her brother has done for her. But it also expalins why she did not want to hurt such a brother with the brutal truth. Moreover, while she respects and loves her bro she is also equally terrified of his temper. Maybe she felt had Milind come to know of her pregnancy he may ask her to abort it, which she may not want to do. She may even have feared that he may end up killing Alaap and land up in jail. She is foolish thinking that such a big secret will remain a secret for long. She also does not have the right to deprive the child of its brith right (of being with its parents). But one can understand her predicament even if one does not condone it.

Allegation No.2: Why did she run away from her engagement without a thought to the reperscussions it will have on a) Milind b) MICHI c) her father.

Again a valid allegation on the face of it. But let us delve into this a little deeper. Here was a girl who had been gilted by her lover, had a baby through him, realised someone really loved her and was willing to give herself another chance only to find that her bro was dead against the match. Not only that he arranged her engagement to someone else the very next day he found out about Saket. He was even willing to conduct the marriage in four days. Now in all fairness what was the poor girl to do? She hit the panic button and bolted. At that point of time all she could think of was escaping from a seemingly impossible situation, especially when that bhoothini Ayesha painted such a dreadful picture if she stayed on. This only shows her immaturity and not her selfishness.

In fact I would blame Milind more in this instance. For someone who cares for his sister's happiness more than anything in the world he really seems to have jumped the gun. Fixing a marriage in four days, that too to someone he barely knew. Granted he may have known the boy's father. but what does he know of his son? Did he do his homework about the boy? I doubt it considering that the entire arrangement was made in such short notice. And worse still he did not even bother to inform his wife about it till the family arrived to see the bride. If they had shown that this arrangement was already made by Milind prior to his catching SS together, I would have given him the benefit of doubt. No, this was done after. So it appears he was more in haste to get rid of Saket from his sister's life than he was about ensuring that she goes to a good household. All he heard was Niharika's motives. He still did not know anything about Saket. In fact even before he heard her, he had already written off Saket because he was a Shergill. Now that is prejudice at its worst. For a man of the world, one does not expect som much prejudice. He could have given Suki more time to get over Saket, all the time reassuring her of his support if he really wanted to help her. It would not have been easy, but then he knows he does have a troublesome sister does he not, especailly after the Alaap incident?

As to why she did not think about her babhi and what her actions will do to MICHI, my argument on her behalf would be that she did not expect her brother to immediately blame Prachi for her mistake. After all that Prachi had done for him, she expected him to have more faith in his wife. She may have been short sighted, but that is a fault even Milind should be accused of. His wife has repeated shown him of her care and concern for him and yet when put to the test he thinks the worst of her.

As to why she did not think of her father's help again her excuse is that she was too absorbed in avoiding the immediate danger (getting married). In the process the future repercussions just did not play in her mind. What about Milind's outburst about the lack of husband-wife relationship to his father? Now, this man had just had another heart attack and thinks the world of his bahu. What would such a declaration do to his health? Did he think of that? No he acted in the spur of the moment just like his sis. I think haste runs in the family. Why only accuse poor Suki for that?

Allegation 3: Why did she not tell Saket about her past?

Granted she took time in confiding in him. But before he came to get her, she did try telling him everything. Only as fate would have it he did not listen to anything. Future trouble in MICHI paradise. But we will have to wait to see how she will tackle it then.

Now coming to some of the things in her favour.

1: She has always supported MICHI. She even admonished her brother for letting Prachi go the first time telling him that she lost respect for him. Now that is a big step considering she fears his temper. She even told Ayesha to leave them alone since they have just begun to find happiness together. Considering that she knew Ayesha longer than she did Prachi, again that was a big step.

2. Her confession at the temple about how Prachi stopped her wedding. she went into full detail of what Prachi told her. Now this is very important for Milind to realise what Prachi thinks of him. She even told him that although he had given only pain to Prachi, she had only given him trust and sacrifice. Hopefully this will start a new chapter in the lives of MICHI. She also spoke up for Prachi against Ayesha.

3. One has to admit that this entire saga of SS has strenghthened Milind's faith and respect for Prachi. So indirectly Saki should be given credit for this.

So overall Suki comes out as a coward (who is fool hardy, generally all cowards are). She has still not been portrayed as selfish or evil. If anything, she wholeheartedly supports MICHI. What will really make my day would be for Suki and Sakee to insist that MICHI also take their wedding vows when they do so. After all, both had witnessed Milind severing his ties with Prachi. Well, may be I am expecting too much from this dumb pair. But no harm in still having some hopes, is there?

Sorry about this long post. & nbsp;

Nice and valid points 👏

Well... I always think sukreti is cute and childlike (irrelevant, I know).

And yes Milind is having a giant prejudice indeed, against rich people (or 'born rich', to be exact).

But Sukreti did it for me by using the sari Milind gave her to escape 🤢 , as if she can't find anything else in that room to do just that. What can I say, when considering Milind I'm not a good character judge at all.

Yes Magno, using the saree he gifted inorder to escape was a little too much. Dont the bed covers of her bed come off? She could have used that instead. Maybe it would not have been long enough. Anyway that was really a low.

Yes... She could have used many other things, bed covers or curtains or other stuff... But after cooling off I must admit that scene was somewhat funny for the irony!😆 But still I'm not forgiving her (yet).

Optimist, valid points.. but I can't forgive Sukriti at all.. She could have ran away after the engagement function yaar. it was not if marriage was happening the very same day. 🤢 did she have to insult her brother and father in front of the whole world..

Moreover I am angry with her for not saying the truth abt Rohan's blackmail to Milind even when she saw how angry Milind was to Prachi. She could see their relation was put under stake due to her. Still she did not open her mouth.

Nah.. I will not forgive her.

If I remember right, she did volunteer to tell her bhaiyya about Prachi's innocence of the reunion night. It was Prachi who stopped her.
