In this situation(of Poonam) it is good for the child in the short term but may not(not saying it would be) be good in the longer term

In Poonam's case and after seeing where and how she lives , I don't think it is a major problem in raising a child single handedly. Her mother did that with Poonam and her sister and I am sure they have "extended" family type of environment in the neighborhood . In Sushmita's case again she has extended family and maids to help her raise the child. I suppose it would be very difficult for a single girl working average job in a metro city without any familial support on daily basis.
I so agree, adopt a child without any support, holds true for men/women, its hard.
No big deal there... but I am all IN for adoption, even if it is virtual, when can justify it life long, martial status doesn't matter. Having own kids is definately a different feeling but adopting is eternal, hope God provides me with that oppurtunity😳
In Poonam's case, though I think it is commendable I also think that it is easy for her because her 'mohalla' know that the kid is from neighborhood. Had she adopted the kid from out of town then people would have made her life miserable. Another thing is since it is a known fact that the kid is not actually Poonam's daughter and even if Poonam chooses to marry and move to a different place, her mother can take care of the kid if Poonam provides monetary help. Does that kid call Poonam, mom? I think not. Most probably Poonam didi.
I am not undermining Poonam's noble act but just highlighting the fact that she is not a single mom but someone who is bringing up the kid with her mother's help. This single mom emphasizing is Zee's way to use Poonam and get last shot at higher TRPs.
If you have money /strangth/self confidence to care the child anyone can adopt the child....
I agree with you
with child comes big responsblity
and i admire women like susmita sen.
In spite of all these uncertainties and difficulties,
many well-educated women nonetheless choose this
in contempory era. I tottaly agree that its quite
common in west but still in south asia it is
certainely a brave act.
