I noticed that the character she plays is always tweaked 😆 as in...they almost ALWAYS specifically make it a point to mention that shes not fully-Indian (as in hindi speaking ) - and this happens in almost every movie...

Phantom - Parsi who is living in London
Dhoom -3 - American Indian
Jab Tak Hai Jaan - British INdian
Ek Tha Tiger - Pakistani living in Dublin
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan - I think she plays a American returned Indian
Zindagi na Milegi dobara - ANglo-Indian in Spain
Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani - Christian-Indian
New York -American Indian
Namaste London - British Idnian
Humko Deewana Kar Gaye - Canadian Indian

Not sure about Rajneeti, Singh is King, Race, and the rest etc

Obviously this is not a coincidence, its obviously done to give her accented hindi some authenticity - but at the same time I dont think there kind of modifications have ever been done for any other actress. Not sure if this is a good thing or not lol

many people in india do not speak hindi but are fully indian. Speaking hindi with an accent should not be frowned upon.

Im not saying it should be frowned upon but obviously in bollywood films, actors speak in HINDI - and what I am saying is that almost every character she has played in a Hindi movie is said to be a foreigner or connected to some foreign land or IN some foreign land! Just find it weird how theres always an excuse lol 😆

And Blame Bollywood for frowning upon it - even they can't show an "Indian" not speaking in proper Hindi without attaching them to some foreign land or nationality.

This is supremely refreshing.

If they tried to pass her as a pakka Indian, it'd be a little bit annoying because there's tons of other more Indian-featured women who should be playing her role.

This is tons better than watching Amy Jackson and being forced to believe that she's a malayalee/Punjabi/whatever else

Well, casting her as a mumbai born or delhi born of say Gujarati parents
and who has never gone abroad is hardly going to cut it.
