"Ammi...wo bechari nahi hai" Asad groaned as he rubbed his forehead in frustration as his mother sighed and Najma giggled but immediately shut up seeing his brother glaring at her.
"Asad beta..." Dilshad tried to say something but Asad cut her off.
"Ammi please, Stop defending her always. This is the height of irresponsibility, when I had clearly stated that I want everyone in my house till 7, then why..."
He stopped short as he saw the door of their villa barge open and Zoya entering, dressed in blue denims and yellow top with her bag dangling at her right side, but without the usual chirpiness she always had on her face, she wore an upset expression which Dilshad immediately noticed but Asad didn't and walked angrily up to her.
"Have you noticed the time Ms. Farooqui?" He asked through gritted teeth, shaking her out of her reverie as she looked upon her wrist watch to see the time. 8.30, it read. Zoya gulped hard as she knew she was late and had to face the wrath of Jahanpana.
"Wo...I'm sorry..." She started to apologize but was cut short by the roar of the lion.
"What part of I want everyone in my house by 7' don't you understand, Ms Farooqui?" He shouted, making Zoya step back as a shiver ran down her spine.
"Mr. Khan, I said I'm sorry" She argued. She wasn't the one to listen to the rubbish he says and stay quiet.
"You think your sorry will make everything fine?"
"Allah Miyan! What's wrong with you Mr. Khan?" She exclaimed, "You're acting as if my staying out late has hurt someone!"
"Yes. Your staying out late means you're disrespecting my rules!"
"Oh I'm sorry I forgot that I live in a hostel who a hitler wardon named Asad Ahmed Khan" She shouted in his face while Dilshad and Najma giggled at her comment.
Asad's blood boiled at her comment and her tone as well. He stepped forward and grabbed her arm furiously, "Enough is enough Ms. Farooqui..." He roared in her face which made her terrified. Dilshad rushed to them and pulled Zoya out of his grip. "Asad! What are you doing? Are you out of your mind?" She reprimanded him.
Asad came out of his blinding fury and saw Zoya holding her arm, rubbing it lightly while his Ammi looked at him with a frown on her face. Turning to Zoya, she spoke, "Beta, I'm sorry for..."
"It's okay Phupi. Why are you apologizing? No worries..." She spoke with a smile, turning her face towards Asad, she spoke, "Ye tou hain hi aise!" Taunting him on his face, she turned to go to her room.
"What was that Asad? How could you...?" Dilshad asked once Zoya was gone
"I'm sorry Ammi...I was just so angry" He shook his head, feeling guilty for his behavior.
"Apologize to her, not me" She spoke in a stern tone and went into the kitchen to prepare for dinner, while he stood there in a pool of thoughts, thinking how to apologize to Ms. Farooqui.

Asad sat on the settee with his elbows propped on his thighs and his head in his hands as he thought about what happened outside. He didn't want to lose his temper but no matter how much he tries to control, that girl manages to make him angry and retort to her.
Only he knew how sick worried he was when she didn't get home on time. She was new in Bhopal and had the least idea about the paths as people here. As much as he tried denying it, he was worried for her. For that badtameez guest in his house.
What was in that girl that attracts him so much to her? She doesn't even posses one quality of what he wants in his ideal, but still manages to make his heart skip a beat with that dazzling dimpled smile, still manages to take care of his family and love them as he does, still manages to make him concerned about her whereabouts, and still manages to make him behave out of his character.
He remembered first seeing her at Dargah, clad in a bridal suit with a black dupatta draped around her, their first meeting, and every encounter after that. When he had found out that she was the guest in their house, he was furious but some corner of his heart smiled a little. All the times he scolded her, accused her and avoided any discussions with her was because he wanted to suppress his growing attraction towards her, thinking it would lead to a doom.
Asad Ahmed Khan had led a neat and organized life. And ever since this toofan has entered his life, it has been nothing but a mess! She made him feel things he doesn't want to feel, made him do things he doesn't want to and yet he does. The more he was afraid of falling in love with her, the more he fell for her.
And now he had fallen too deep to come back.

"Zoya?"
Zoya heard Dilshad's sweet motherly voice and wiped her tears immediately. Thankful that her back faced her door, she cursed herself for not locking the door. Clearing her face, she turned around to see Dilshad standing, she put up a fake smile.
"Phupi...Why are you standing there? Come in..." Zoya spoke, trying to sound cheerful.
Dilshad walked up to her and sat on the bed, facing her. She looked at the girl she came to love as a daughter, she lifted her hand and cupped her cheek, "You don't need to pretend in front of me beta..."
Her soft tone and motherly touch was enough to break the barriers as tears flew seamlessly down her cheeks as she broke down in the arms of her Phupi.
Dilshad embraced her crying figure and kept her head on her chest as she kept caressing her hair, comforting her. As her sobs subsided, she moved away and held her hand for comfort.
"Another day of failure, Phupi. I'm failing from the time I came here" she sobbed and Dilshad kept listeneing, while caressing her hand.
"My Ammi died in a fire Phupi, right in front of my eyes. And the scars of that horrendous night are still on me. Reminding me again and again of that incident. When I found out my Abbu is alive and is in Bhopal, I came here in hope of finding him but..." She ended and hugged Dilshad again as fresh tears flew from her eyes. Dilshad's eyes moistened as she heard how much this poor thing has suffered. She hugged her tighter to lessen her pain as she kept sobbing.
Dilshad couldn't believe that the girl who spread happiness all around her had so much of pain suppressed inside, and neither could the one who stood outside hearing the conversation.
Asad's eyes stung with tears as he heard her sobbing, that pinched his heart and only he knew how badly he wanted to go inside, wipe her tears and embrace her telling everything will be fine. But it was like as if his feet were jammed on the spot. Her sobs kept crushing his heart and his every ounce was dipped into guilt for shouting at her when she was so upset.
But he couldn't help that. Worried as he was, she became the target of his frustration of fighting his own feelings. But right now, all he wanted to do was take her pain away by any means. He just wanted her smiling and jumping like she usually does.
His heart swelled in respect for the woman he'd insulted baselessly numerous times, as he sae her wiping his Ammi's tears and telling her to smile.
Blinking back his own tears, he left for his room.

It was after breakfast, the next day, Zoya was settled on the sofa in the lounge, surfing through the channels with a bored expression on her face. Najma had left for college and Dilshad was in her room taking a nap, while Zoya had nothing to do.
"Ms. Farooqui?"
She heard Asad's voice and turned her head to see him standing with his arms folded behind his back. She rolled her eyes seeing him, not wanting to hear another lecture.
"Please Mr. Khan, I'm in no mood of hearing any more lectures" She replied.
"No...I'm here to apologize" he spoke abruptly and her face shot up towards him, shell-shocked at his statement.
"What?" Zoya stood up, her eyes wide with shock, "Did you said what I heard? Or are my ears ringing?" Zoya said, clearing her ears. Asad massaged his forehead and hid his smile seeing her dramatic reaction. Typical Zoya.
"Yes, Ms. Farooqui, you heard absolutely right, there's nothing wrong with your ears. I'm here to apologize for my behavior last night" He spoke with an amused smile as she listened, "I don't know what took over me, I'm extremely sorry." He spoke sincerely and Zoya smiled but decided to tease him.
"If you don't know, then find out!" she shouted.
"Excuse me?" Asad frowned.
"I said find out what's wrong with you. Because I feel that along with being emotionally challenged, you are mentally challenged as well" She said, trying to keep up a serious face seeing his expressions change.
Asad could sense she was having fun at his expense so he decided to tease her back,
"I'll do that for sure Ms. Farooqui. Only once you tell me at what age did you lose your screws?" he asked with a small teasing smile.
That wiped off the smile from her face as an angry frown took place, her mouth fell open at his comment, "Allah miyan! What's wrong with you Mr. Khan! You think I've got lose screws? I was just joking with you!"
"I was doing the same Ms. Farooqui" He replied and her mouth remained open. Did Mr. Khan joke with her? Really? This damn had to be some dream. She looked up to see a small smile playing at his lips. Excited, and flown by her emotions, she spoke, "Mr. Khan, a little more. I wanna see that adorable dimple on your..."
She halted as soon as she realized what she had blurted out while Asad had to bite the inside of his cheek to stop the smile that threatened to come out at her innocence.
"I..Wo, Mein..I mean.." She kept stuttering and he shook his head, finally letting his adorable smile out. Shaking his head, he turned around and walked to his room with a smile on his face while she stood there, as blush crept on her cheeks.

Days passed and things seemed to change between them a little. They would bicker non-stop but at times she would catch him looking at her or he caught her staring at him. Well aware of their own feelings now, they didn't know what to do. For Zoya, it was immense feeling of bliss; she would be happily smiling for no reason throughout the day but for Asad it was a bit different.
He did not live a normal childhood, his father had left them stranded and they had to look after themselves. He had seen her mother crying at nights due to him and he could not bear the fact that Zoya will be in the same position as his mother's.
After all, he had Rashid Ahmed Khan's blood running in his veins.
But again, his heart and mind seemed to be contradicting again. He had to stay away from Zoya but he couldn't. The more he tried to stay away from her, the more he ended up with her only.
Gosh, this was damn frustrating.

"Appi...how many times have I told you to refrain from playing a matchmaker?" Zoya spoke through the phone, irritated. "I don't want to get married right now"
Asad halted in his tracks as he heard the word married' from her mouth. His heart beat turned faster as the thought of Zoya marrying and leaving with someone else hit him. No! His mind refused to form an image even. The only thought of her belonging to someone else than him broke all the shields and reservations he had formed in his heart.
"Appi please stop. Warna mein phir se bhaag jaongi..." She threatened and had to pull away the cell from her ear as she heard Zeenat screaming, while Asad chuckled.
"Yar Appi...I told you not to...What?!" She screamed at the end and Asad neared a bit to hear why she was so shocked.
"You've told him I'll meet him without asking me about it?" Zoya rolled her eyes and huffed extremely annoyed at Zeenat's behavior.
"Ok fine I'll meet him, stop crying. Just this once" She spoke and heard Zeenat screaming happily at the other end.
As she said her goodbyes and disconnected her phone, she turned around to see Asad standing with an unfathomable expressions on his face. "Mr. Khan?" She shrieked, keeping a hand on her heart.
Ignoring her dramatics, he asked, "Where are you going Ms. Farooqui?"
"What do you mean? Now I have to tell you that too?" Her eyes widened.
"Are you going to meet someone?" He asked again, making Zoya angry.
"You preach the whole world about tehzeeb and tameez and don't even know that one shouldn't eavesdrop?" She asked angrily as he looked away. "And I will go wherever I want to!" She spoke and started to leave when he held her hand and pulled her as she bumped into his rock hard chest.
"You are not going anywhere" he spoke dangerously.
"Who are you to stop me?" She retorted and struggled in his grip but her attempts remain futile.
Her constant struggles were frustrating him. All the suppressed feelings and emotions took over him and without thinking of anything else, he cupped her face and placed his lips on hers softly and felt her go still immediately.
Gently, he started kissing her and when he felt she didn't respond, he kissed a bit harder making her respond to him. As she started kissing him back, he left her hands and pulled her closer by her waist as her hands crept to his back, fisting his hair as they kissed passionately.
They broke apart due to lack of oxygen, breathing heavily as they joined their foreheads together.
"Was it that difficult to understand that I love you?" he whispered intensely.
"I..I was unsure. You're so damn confusing. On one hand, you scold me for being late and on the other hand, the very next day you're joking with me!" She cried, tears stinging in her eyes. He immedietly cupped her face and wiped the tears before they could roll down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry...You know I'm a bit emotionally challenged." He apologized making a cute face.
"A bit?" She chuckled, making him join her.
"Okay, sorry. A lot. But I really love you Zoya. And I'm tired of fighting it anymore" He confessed and her lips curled up into a beautiful smile. "And I'm sorry for shouting you that day, I was just worried about you" Zoya was in awe seeing this man, she arched herself upwards and placed her lips on his cheek, giving a light peck, feeling his smile deepen as a dimple appeared in his cheek.
"I'm waiting for something..." he whispered in her ear, making her shiver at his touch.
Zoya smiled, deciding not to make him wait anymore, "I love you Asad" she whispered making his heart flutter as he closed his eyes and pulled her in his embrace, hiding his face in the crook of her neck.
"Were you really going to meet that guy?" He asked gruffly against her neck, feeling her laugh in his chest
"No silly! I was never going in the first place, you just assumed I did. And I'm glad you did" she finished shyly as they broke apart.
"I'm glad too" He whispered, holding her chin lightly as he pulled her into a kiss.
