Today was a big day for Ananya. She was in Mumbai to receive the award for the best journalist of the year. All the prominent people in the field of journalism were present in that auditorium where she was presently sitting waiting for the ceremony to start appearing pensive and slightly sad. She was missing Kabir. It was their first wedding anniversary and she was away from her husband, her lover! She wished he was here with her, being beside her like always.
She wished she could return to Delhi for this special day. But she had no other choice than to honor the commitment she had already made by accepting to attend this award function.
After the ceremony, she stayed back for a while trying to mingle with people around and posing for photos but her mind was with Kabir in Delhi. Finally with a weary sigh, she made her way back to her hotel.
She opened the door of her room and gasped. The entire room was flooded with blooms of various shades - red, pink, white, yellow, orange. She quickly moved forward to see who they were from but there were no notes on them.
The very next second a round black colored entity placed in the middle of her bed caught her attention. She opened that smooth exterior box to find a delicate diamond bracelet with minimum design coupled with utmost elegance. There was a note attached to the interior of the box which read:
"It doesn't matter how many years pass by, the flight of our love will always fly high. I love you"
Her eyes turned moist as she read the note - cheery, flushed and weepy all at the same time. She looked around at all the flowers. Kabir had sent them here. He was such a sweetheart and she loved him too much!
Suddenly, she heard a feeble noise and without any efforts she recognized it to be the same song that she and Kabir had danced to on their first Valentine's together. She stepped out into the passage but no one was there. She heard the music again and followed the sound with an excitedly pounding heart! She knew he was there! She had to find him!
She could not help herself from being tantalized and pulled towards the song as it played somewhere in her vicinity:
Like a gift from the heavens, it was easy to tell,
It was love from above, that could save me from hell,
She had fire in her soul it was easy to see,
How the devil himself could be pulled out of me,
There were drums in the air as she started to dance,
Every soul in the room keeping time with their hands,
And we sang...
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And the voices rang like the angels sing,
We're singing...
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And we danced on into the night,
Ay oh ay oh,
Ay oh ay oh,
And we danced on into the night,
Like a piece to the puzzle that falls into place,
You could tell how we felt from the look on our faces,
We were spinning in circles with the moon in our eyes,
No room left to move in between you and I,
We forgot where we were and we lost track of time,
And we sang to the wind as we danced through the night,
And we sang...
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And the voices rang like the angels sing,
We're singing...
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And we danced on into the night,
Ay oh ay oh,
Ay oh ay oh,
And we danced on into the night,
Ay oh ay oh,
Ay oh ay oh,
And we danced on into the night...
Finally, the song ended as she stopped in front of a room located at the end of the passage. She opened the door and a cosy scene greeted her. Candles were lit all over over - big, small, medium- some floating in rose bowls. There was a champagne bucket kept on the dinner table along with cutlery and delicious-smelling dishes. She grinned in appreciation. Kabir was so romantic. She was really fortunate to have him in her life.
"Kabirrr..." she called out lovingly but could not trace him in the room
She laughed softly and walked to the open window located at the other end of the room looking out into the mists of the grey night outside.
She closed her eyes trying to inhale his essence as he came close to her. All her nerve-ends were stretched to an apex of feeling, sensation and ecstasies giving her goose bumps. She felt his warm breath on her neck as he came behind her and kissed her softly on the curve of her neck.
Happy anniversary, my sweetheart!
His strong arms curved around her waist as she leaned back on his chest with a peaceful sigh. She was back where she belonged. In his arms! The night had just begun!
She turned slowly towards him and looked into his loving eyes, passion and affection shinning in them.
She smiled gently, circling her arms around his neck: Happy anniversary, my darling hubby!
She reached up and touched his firm lips. He did not let her go and deepened the kiss exploring her sweet mouth -sealing their love with a long and passionate kiss till both were breathless. Finally he raised his head and pecked her on cheek: "ab dinner kar lein? I am starving now. Romance makes me hungry!"
She laughed in response " Haan chalo. Mujhey bhi bahut bhookh lagi hai"
He piloted her by her shoulders to the table; they sat cheek by jowl serving and feeding each other. Their hands continuously met and tangled on the table along with their caressing eyes that locked them in a secret passion.
Finally, he pulled her out to the middle of the room, hugged her in a tight embrace and they danced on into the night rejoicing one year of togetherness as a man and wife!
