I haven't watched Nirmala . Only Godan, I watched. DD used to repeat few of of their 80s programmes in the 90s as well but I dont think they repeated Nukkad. šŸ˜” Weirdly, I also remember the Missing wala programme, they used to narrate about missing people.

I remmeber Charlie Chaplin too , I don't remember the channel on which I used to watch it? I forgot ...but I used to be so amused by it even though I wouldn't understand a lot of stuff. šŸ˜†

I don't know what's wrong with TV programmes these days šŸ˜† Even in the last decade there were some really good shows. Like funny entertaining programmes. Dance shows like Boogie Woogie or Dil kya Chahta hai on Star one. It's completely ruined now šŸ˜†

Ahh Yes, Tipu Sultan...I had forgotten all about it. That too ws a simple no nonsense show without the garishness and tackyness we see today..

Do U remember Mrignayani .. I remember tthe humming of the title track and the name of the show..but nothing else come to mind ..except that I would watch it without missing a epi😳

Why is Chanakya controversial. I will have a look in later at this one.

@Kaapi Nirmala is very good. I would recommend.

DD shows bring to mind the adage: Simplicity is Beauty.
The shows, though low on glamour and production values, had substance to latch onto your mind and carve out niches in your heart. Malgudi Days (Tana na..tananana..that tune ā¤ļø), Mitti Ke Rang, Neem Ka Ped, Buniyad, Banegi Apni Baat, Tara, Shanti, Shaktimaan (the original Indian superhero-- Sundays were literally un-imaginable without this one), Vikram Aur Vetal, Bharat-Ek Khoj and many more...

There was one detective show me and my dad loved a lot. It was called Suraag: The Clue starring Sudesh Berry. I had a crush on him.

The writer has put it so apt-When you are offered pizza, why would you choose spinach..While on DD there was no choice other than to watch its shows and with the incidence of Star Plus and Zee there were more choices so the shift was natural.
I so agree on Epic channel...just the other day I was telling it to someone that it is a mix of DD and Discovery ;)
Infact they telecast old Mahabharat in evenings...wish if they could as well air,if not all,but some of the shows mentioned here.It would be great if new generation and people like me who have faint memories would get to watch these shows again :)
