Does anybody remember Tehreer..Munshi premchand ki? It isn't a 90s show but it was an adaptation of Premchand's novel, Godan.

And there used to be one more programme Upanishad Ganga, very recent one...a couple of years back, I guess. I used to watch it every Sunday. Sometimes watching DD makes me so happy , I even watch those random NCERT programmes once in a while. 😆

I think post 2000's evrything has got changed..

DD and DD Metro was Classic...no doubt..

But Cable TV in 90's too showed some Superb Serials...

Just Mohabbat, Hasratein , Alpaviram , Aahat , Rishtey , Saaya , Hip hip Hurray (my Most Fav)..

Life was too Simple in that Era...and so were the Serials...

As India slowly moved towards more technological side ...trying to ape Westernized Culture...

The Simplicity lost somewhere... :(

like he mentioned ...Even Today while surfing I land on DD/Metro channel...yes some or the Other Documentary ..or some Classical/Folk Dance Tutor Edition is being Shown . Very Informative.

And Yes...I do feel Proud of DD..inspite of having less Audience sometimes Zilch ...They still cont showing it ..

OMG! alpaviram...that series freaked me a little bit man! I used to love Hip hip hurray too. Not just TV serials but also the music channels back then used to be SOO good. Now when I see V and MTV, I feel really sad. What have they become...it's like some stuff has changed for the worse and not for the better.

You know those days, the shows were progressive and broadminded with strong woman characters...Nowadays..the show is turning quite regressive and a weepy woman is considered to be strong .. 😕

Zee had some good shows like Tara, Banegi Apni Baat with madhavan and shefali ( mother character in DDD) and Astitiva ..

Funnily,i remember the English shows like star trek,i love lucy,charlie chaplin show and many more.and i saw some amazing regional films which i wouldnt have seen in todays scenario. Dd even introduced me to world cinema.i remember watching the film z and being fascinated by it.

Me too. I don't like anything on tv nowadays except maybe some sports. Random programmes on DD channels are frikkin surreal. 😆

I think Om Puri was a permanent fixture in DD ..he was part of so many epic shows

A show that was considered controversial but still DD went ahead and telecast it..Chanakya...
