The TV show 'Ishq Ka Rang Safed' traces the journey of a young, beautiful widow Dhani (played by Eisha Singh), who has given up on all worldly desires to lead a life devoid of any adornment and amusement.

It's a reflection of a society that believes that a widow's life ends with the death of her spouse " remarriage or love is considered taboo for her. However, all that changes with the entry of Viplav (played by Mishal Raheja), who falls hopelessly in love with Dhani and pays no heed to the orthodox belief that a man and the generations that follow incur a curse if he marries a widow.

Set in Banaras, the show revolves around Dhani and Viplav, whose lives intersect along the shores of the Ganges. It will launch tonight and will air Monday to Saturday at 6.30 pm on Colors. It marks actor Mishal Raheja's comeback to the fiction genre in a full-fledged role after four years.

It also sees Eisha Singh making her debut as Dhani. All of 16, the challenging aspect for the debutante was to not let her real personality come to the fore. She says, "I'm like any other teenager, chirpy and bubbly.

In that sense, Dhani and Eisha are completely opposite. While Eisha is loud, Dhani is quiet. There would be times when I would prance around the set and the unit would tell me to stop being Eisha. I watched Prem Rog four times and met a few widows at ashrams in Banaras to understand the life they lead."

On the other hand, Viplav is a rebel grandson of an orthodox and religious Pandit. Says Mishal says, "It is multilayered and provides great scope to showcase one's acting prowess through it. Viplav is a happy-go-lucky guy, who gradually transforms into an intense and powerful character " the quintessential hero."

And does he relate to Viplav? "Partly. I was also carefree and fun person like him till a few years ago. I relate to Viplav more post his transformation. Like him, I am also fearless and will show the person his right place when he is wrong," he replies.

Playing the part of Dhani has helped Eisha expand her horizon of knowledge about widows. "A woman is not responsible for her spouse's death, so why should she suffer the aftermath all her life? She has the right to be happy and to remarry," she says.

Mishal adds, "People who impose restrictions belong to the older generation. I hope the nonsense will tone down in the coming years."
