KURSEONG, Sept. 25: Supporters of the Indian Idol Prashant Tamang staged a protest rally in Kurseong today against alleged derogatory remarks passed by a radio jockey against Tamang.

"The comment was in bad taste and has hurt the sentiment of the entire Gorkha population," said Mr Pradip Pradhan, secretary of Prashant Fan Club, Kurseong.
Thousands of people took to the streets shouting protest slogans against the alleged derogatory remarks passed by the radio announcer.

The radio jockey has reportedly apologised for his remarks but it has not satisfied Prashant's fans as the particular radio service is not available in these parts. The people are so agitated that there is a proposal for a bandh in the Darjeeling hills from some corners.

~~~~~~~~~
It is on Red FM I think and the culprit was RJ Nitin, he is one of the most well known FM RJs in Delhi. I like him too, I was tuned to his station this morning and he apologised for his comment.
"RJ Nitin Kumar -'Choukidaar se idol tak"
This is what I heard
"Darjeeling: Reports have poured in from all over India regarding derogatory comments made by radio jockey Nitin working with Red FM 93.5 against the Nepalese community in India. According to one of the comments we received from Mr. Bishal Rai (made in DT) "He (Nitin) said : Aaaj Prashant Tamang 'Nepali larka from Darjeeling' has become Indian Idol 'with sarcastic laugh'….. and we have match tonight so we need to guard our house / malls / restaurants by ourselves as there will be no Nepali People to guard these place and whole night we need to say "Jagtay Raho". He also added that all the Footpath momo shops will remain closed as Nepali guy has become Indian Idol…"
We must make him / FM station apologize unconditionally in writing and verbally for this….
Call Nitin… 0120- 419- 35935 or
Email (Nitin's Boss)… anhita@myredfm.com and make them feel our presence..
We thank Mr. Rai for his alert observation and prompt action, as this has resulted in tremendous protest all over the Hills of Sikkim, Darjeeling and even Nepal.
Darjeeling was totally shut down today and massive rallies comprising of all political parties, school students and citizens are being organized all over the town. The effigies of Nitin and RED FM were burnt in town and nearby places like Jorebunglow, Ghoom, Kurseong etc.
Numerous protest calls have so far been registered by the Darjeeling DM office, Red FM and Darjeeling MP Dawa Narbula. Mr Tenzing Khambachey municipal commissioner, Darjeeling Municipality, said that we will ensure that Red FM is shut down and RJ Nitin comes to Darjeeling to apologize. He even said that "we will make sure the information and broadcasting ministry takes a strong note of this issue".
We request all our readers and well wishers to thank Mr. Bishal Rai and protest to Red FM in the above given phone number and email address."
Thanks Nepkanchhi for posting it, infact I had heard those comments also but as I was getting ready for office I didn't listen it carefully enough. Yeah, it was really insensitive of him to say something like that..it is highly offensive (like if Indians in US are addresses by goras as cabbies), hope they accept his apology.
Dear Sir
I haven't got to hear what ur joker told in the radio but if the news that is being circulated is true then it's not good at all. Just saying India is big doesn't prove big. You have to have the heart to be big. Its people like you and your organization who are the real terrorist coz it gives fuel to the others who are looking for such opportunity so why should I not call you and your radio the breeder of terrorist? Do you have answer to this? If so then come out from your hole and look beyond the horizon of narrow mentality. You feel proud to announce Sunita Wiliams as your citizen but still feel ashamed to say your own people as the indian citizen coz they have different ethnic background. You feel proud to say Tenzing Norgey as indian when it comes to the school books though he settled in India later but at the same time you feel ashamed to say Prashant as indian though his whole generations have lived there.
You can only remember Nepali as 'bahadur' who guards the home at night but you forget to remember that how many 'bahadur' guards your India in the borders. Go and count the fallen soldiers in Kargil and Siachen. Go and open the history and see who were deployed during the war with China and Pakistan. And then ask who is true Indian. Shouting at radio and making vulger remarks for the whole community is not same as making comment on the bollywood peoples. Try to learn the word called responsibility. Just having resources in your hand is not being indian do something for nation and then shout loud that u are indian. But true indian will never shout and don't need to prove Indian.
So tomorrow if a single person is dead with such irresponsible act then can't we call you terrorist? There are always people willing to die and kill and many times u people lebel them terrorist but its people like you who are the real terrorist igniting them. Its people like you who are the real threat to India and not outsiders. Why we need to go on blaming outsiders when we have sufficient terrorist in the disguise of RJ and boss of such RJ.
If you have true Indian heart then come out and punish the culprit and leave ur position for being incapable to handle such serious and responsible position. But u dont have that heart and since you are true terrorist you wont do that because you are not indian who is looking for bright india but just making india means for earning and for that you are even willing to sell ur motherland.
that stupid rj from red fm, he should be sacked. i don't understand the mentality of indians. do they think that all nepalese are watchman? even in nepal there are many indians who work as servants in houses. does that make all indians servant of nepalese?
What official source are you looking for? The same that called Gangtok the capital of Bhutan and Prashant from Shillong and Amit from Darjeeling? I'll take grammer error anyday over factual errors. Look at the substance, not the form. That RJ made a racist and degrading comments about a particular type of Indians and instead of condemning it you are looking for Grammatical errors. People listening to that station heard it and you can't deny that. What words, tense or form is used to describe it besides the point.
