I liked Anandi a lot - but since Sa-Ja time - I have started questioning her also. Before that - I did not give any thought to her shortcomings. I am one of those - who always looked about intentions and not actual actions as long as the character is positive and is not deliberately harming anyone. But Sa-Ja track changed all this - but still I kept looking what Anandi was doing in that track and never bothered to look in past tracks. It is only after forum is filled with intense scrutiny of Mangla that I tried to look back - and that has changed my view on Anandi. I still don't want to discuss that because it will feel like - I misjudged a lot of things.
Coming to Mangala - she is one of those unfortunate women in patriarchal society who are marginalised and will get no help from others - not even other similarly placed women. The situation of women is very well brought forward by situation of Harki and Urmi. Harki still suffers violence and has no say in domestic affairs except her kitchen and household works - where she is free to give as much work to Nimboli as she wants. Urmi's mother made it clear in no uncertain terms that women have to go through all this and this is their fate - indirectly telling that she will get no help from her. Even in urban society - people don't care what one person is facing in his/her family - and in village society - it is almost impossible to get help.

Mangala is a weak person - she is good at heart, helps others as much as she can, loves others and does not harms anyone. But she is not a strong person to openly challenge a wrong person. She will suffer and try to save herself. It is like she can defend but cannot attack. She has to learn a lot from someone like Kamli - a product of same society, who suffered a lot, but found courage as soon as she got support. As of now - I admire Kamli more than Mangala.

Anandi remained illiterate even after she went to her parents place because she was forced by Dsa to do so. It was not her choice.
Dadisa not only made her burn books but also extracted a promise from that little girl that she will never touch books again.

This all happened a few months before she turned thirteen.

Anandi the sanctimonious little girl that she was she stuck to the promise that she made to Dsa like a lamb who trusts the slaughterer.

She was bullied into not telling this anyone.

She did take all this out of fear respect and love towards her elders but she did rebel and went her own way where education was concerned.

Evne that she reseumed to save her marriage but the old lady and her grandson mocked her for her efforts and that's when she told them off and said she will study to her hearts content and when Bhairon wanted her to take up medicine to get back at J and G she rebelled and chose what she wanted to study.

She didn't run away she took all this as long as she could and she rebelled.

-------
People say why did she not go back to her parents' place after her husband dumped her.
How can she go back to her mother who told her there is no place for her at her parents' place when she ran away to her place after Dsa locked her up in Kotri?
How can a small child remain unaffected when her mother says those things to her?

Yes Anandi did learn a lesson that running away is no answer to her problems at a very young age that's the reason she chose to stay back at Singhs place like her mother told her to when she was a child and worked on changing the situation she is in changing herself and changing people's mindsets.

Of course all the things that she has done to change herself her situation and the people around her will be disregarded and she will never be given credit for that.

Anandi didn't run away she too took a lot before rebelling and then she worked towards bringing about change.

People keep saying lack of education illiteracy is the reason - but there are financially self sufficient and educated women who put up with domestic abuse.
It has got very little to do with lack of education and lot more to do with lacking in motivation.

Herein lies the contradiction - Anandi did not resume studies because DS had extracted a promise from her - then how and why she resumed studies without DS retracting that promise? It only means she stopped studies to honour DS but she could as well resume studies when she was at Bilaria because she resumed without DS permitting her.

should Mangala be called a weak women or is it more about conditioning to live in that house for a life time just like Anandi was never ready to leave bh ever...

I think it's more about conditioning!

Only Ganga left since she had no way out...

I don't think it is about conditioning to live in that house for a life time - in case of Mangala. It is more like - this is her home - this is her property - so why should she leave? Mangala is not dependent on Akhera - in the sense that this house and property belongs to both her late husband and Akhera - Akhera is not providing her food in real sense.
I called Mangala weak - because I don't think she is strong enough to take on men in this patriarchal society. She is weak - like most other women in the society. Perhaps - she should learn from Kamli - and she should help Kamli in her peculiar situation - Kamli has become strong - but the base of her strength has been snatched from her. She may break if she does not get any support. Mangala may shift with Kamli - it will be beneficial for both and it will help them to join forces to take revenge from Akhera.

I don't know what creatives will actually show - but I would like Kamli leading the tortured women of Akhera household.
