As much as I enjoyed and loved NAUC, I have to say, the CVs were SHIT at writing grey characters. For them, characters only existed in two extremes: good and bad. And if you actually analyze it, I think you can actually pin-point the good and bad moments of all characters.
Like take Viren. Viren started out as bad. We didn't like him. But then after daard-e-disco, he immediately switched to good. It was like a tubelight went off in him.
Same with Dada Ji. He started off good. But then slowly morphed into bad with her tyranny. Stayed bad with whole retirement drama. But then immediately came into good books again.
Vimla had fallen victim to this. She started off as the good, nice oldest bahu. But then with Aman initial entrance, turned extremely bad to the point where many of us members didn't like her.
Mohan could perhaps be classified as grey. But there wasn't really enough scenes of him to really say that. Rupan was the only major character who had potential to be grey, within the GF. But CVs even messed that up. In fact, all the grey characters were just completely ruined.
In fact, the forum's laadla Kabir also started out as grey. He wasn't willing to help Chandu initially. He didn't want to be married to Nisha. But then slowly he too was made into this white good character who only did good things. I HATED goody-two shoes Kabir. For me, the entire essence of Kabir was his kamina paan. But slowly, even that was lost.
Sumit is another example. He was shown to initially love Dolly and attempt to stop his mother from yelling at Dolly (he took Dolly with him to their room when Dolly and Leela got into a spat because Leela was being unreasonable). But he also had a meaner, less wholesome side with the whole Ritesh-daring-Nisha-kiss fiasco, the whole showing up to his wedding drunk, etc. But with FJ, he was turned into this criminal who had no remorse. Ridiculous.
Viraj too. Started off as this "prince charming," and morphed into psycho obsessive lover. No in between.
So I think the CVs of this PH really need to take a lesson in how to craft grey characters. They had wonderful bases built in Rupan, Kabir, and even to an extent in Mohan. But they squandered it away and ruined it.
