Rakhi Sawant has always been in the news for her controversial statements and questionable outfits. But this time around there is a new side of Rakhi for the world to see. Sawant heard of a young girl suffering from arterial blockage and needing a pacemaker and the supergirl was promptly there to lend a helping hand. She has donated 60,000 rupees to the girl after hearing her public plea on a television channel.
"Rakhi is a very emotional person. I always say that….whenever she sees anyone in need she can't stop herself from helping them. So when she heard of Sapna's case we decided to go se the situation ourselves. And she gave her the money," says Abhishek Awasthi who accompanied his girlfriend to the hospital.
Sapna Mitkar is television actress Nupur Alankar's sister. The actress needed 2 lakhs for her sister's operation and had made a public appeal on television. Rakhi heard of it and promptly made her way to see her. "I believe that Rakhi has a class. All those people who talk badly about her… who say she has no class are wrong. What I would like to tell them is that she has much more class than all those people who go to pubs and clubs and spend so much money. I believe in goodness … and Rakhi has shown that. I'd rather be gutsy and help the needy," says Alankar.
Nupur adds that she doesn't know Rakhi personally and therefore it was quite a surprise for her to hear of Sawant's gesture. "I tried contacting a lot of people for this but no one came forward. But as soon as Rakhi heard about this through the channel she just came over. I spoke with Rachna and she was so excited after Rakhi's visit. She spoke to her nicely…as well as Abhishek. She also gave her tips on how to approach other people to help the situation," says Nupur.
Nupur says that both she and Rachna are now so impressed with Rakhi's gesture that they are praying for her. "I really hope that she goes very far in life and achieves everything. And I also hope she wins Nach Baliye this year!" http://news.indya.com/newsDetails.aspx?xfile=2007/September/ News_20070924_235
