What is Akshay Kumar lacking?

To me he is an overall great actor

yeah but how many movies does he usually do per year, and then look at all the past years...it becomes a blur after a while

A good story and its good execution is also important.

He just doesn't have the superstar factor. I love him but this is as good as he can get.

Gabbar did well to my surprise because it looked like a lame film. Brothers didn't work because of the bad reviews and bad word of mouth. Everything isn't about who is in the film these days. Plus He doesn't have a huge fan following like the Khans. Plus like rose treasures said: he does too many films. And his films aren't on the huge scale and promoted as much as the khan films are. He's not working with the biggest directors like Rohit Shetty or Raju Hirani or Kabir Khan ect

No family oriented films with wholesome entertainment. Like Rowdy Rathore.

The ability to realize that quantity over quality doesn't work.
