SRK Vs Ranveer Vs Star Wars

While everyone is talking in hush hush whispers, as to what will happen when Shah Rukh Khan - Kajol - Varun Dhawan starrer Dilwale will face off against Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-Priyanka Chopra'sBajirao Mastani this December. The first movie is directed by the blockbuster man, Rohit Shetty, who can't seemed to go wrong with box office figures, while the latter is known for his eye-pleasing magnum opuses!

However, they both now have to be wary of a third threat. It is not a normal threat, it's a HUGE one. It comes from a galaxy far, far away! And it's a film the whole effing world is waiting with bated breath!

It's Star Wars: Episode VII or Star Wars - The Force Awakens!

The film, from the stable of Lucasfilms, is all set to release in Christmas this year. It has begun a strong promotional drive several months prior to its release. The movie is already being treated like a big ticket Bollywood film and thus the makers have decided to roll out a strong marketing plan by installing special Star Wars experiential zones at multiplexes and college fests across the country. And we are only speaking about India!

We know both SRK and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's main stronghold is the foreign markets and NRI audience, which unfortunately also happens to Star Warsfavourite buffet!

So will Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani stand strong against the Jedi Force or wilt under the pressure? Only Santa Claus tell...

As a ardent Star Wars fan myself, I can only say to everyone involved, May The Force Be With You!'

Does Star wars movie have a big fan following in India? In Foreign markets yes it will be a huge competitor especially since the old cast will also be present but I m not very sure about India.

But desi audience will always, always choose srk over a franchise. Unless it's a Harry Potter or a pirates film. Ff7 n Jurassic did good but this Xmas it's srk n rohit S n vd. They'll watch dilwale for sure. Maybe the star wars fanboys will go but families will go to dilwale

Star Wars > Dilwale > Bajirao for me

Though Dilwale will dominate in India due to SRK himself, plus the return Jodie with Kajol

It not about whether people will go to watch Dilwale or not. Of-course they will and it will the biggest grosser.
It the damage that SW will do to both the movies that is the question. How much??

Judging by how movies like F7, JW (nobody expected it to be that big, over 100 crores), Fury Road, Avengers and now MI have done so well; I wont be surprised if SE does the same.

A 70-100 crore performance at tje BO with two clashes will be exceptional indeed. And I think it will open the X-mas day will will give it an advantage seeing the other two will be into there second week as things stand now.

As for overseas; the damage will be huge. Most here in the US are going to see SW first, its a cultural thing. You just dont not go to a SW movie. Same for the UK.
The people I know (from the BW audience) already are planning to see SW more than once.
