Karan Malhotra takes an excellent film, casts two perfect actors to play MMA fighters and then gives us Mary Kom 2.0

One of the best directors of the country directing two leading young stars with a 120 cr budget and an excellent supporting cast gives us Bombay Velvet

Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti take an excellent ensemble across Europe to make Dil Dhadakne Do

Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan, Rajkumar Rao, Mahesh Bhatt and Mohit Suri unite to give us Humaari Adhuri Kahani

Then there is Badlapur, Shamitabh and Dharam Sankat Mein

And going by the trailers seems to be the case with Phantom and Shandaar 🤓

One of the most commercially successful directors in the country comes with the most celebrated pair in the history of Indian cinema and gives us Dilwale 😛

Oh yeah..So most successful director, biggest star, most celebrated couple, most popular young actor, most linked heroine who is rumored to have done everyone in the industry, most successful music director yet they couldn't find a distributor and give us a ridiculous film like Dilwale 😲

There were duds but there were amazing works of cinema as well- Piku, Badlapur, Dhrishyam, DLKH, Masaan, Baby and the over-hyped BB(which many loved, not me, but that's a diff point.)

It's always goig to be a year of critically acclaimed movies and duds...but as I see, the glass is half-full.

The best part is this year all the trash failed to make an impact at the box office. Quality has triumphed.
