Jagya is over for me'..
Shashank Vyas ''Jagya '' breaks free of 'Balika Vadhu'
It's an exclusive! its's like cutting of an Umbilical cord or shedding of one's own skin..Shashank Vyas, known only & only as 'Jagya' to millions of TV watchers so far, has decided to rip himself out of this identity... To know the whys & wherefores of it,GR8! brings you the man himself... read on...
Jagya gave you an identity...what made you get tired of him?
Shashank Vyas: Tired' is not the right word to use here but yes, for the last 5 years Jagya has been my comfort zone, and comfort zones are boring for me- I' have to step out of them!
You didn't leave despite all those leaps in the story, nor did you call it quits when so many prominent members of the cast dropped out.So why now?
SV: There is nothing left in my character to explore now! When the original cast left, excitement left too!.In fact,if they were still on the show,it would have been very difficult for me to leave, but I am relaxed today that they all have left before me! Particularly, when the original director who tutored me all there is to act ,also left 3 months ago, my personal bond with the show was cut. I missed him the most!
When you put across your wish to leave the show to the Producers ,were there heated scenes or it was just accepted calmly!
SV: Oh,It was simple! I put forward my decision...They asked_'Are you sure?'...I nodded...and all of us moved on!
Your apparent grudge is that nothing new is left in your tracks-but,tell us,could it not be rectified by them? Why,do you think, such an effort was not made on their part?
SV: Tracks are not quite the thing-for me, Jagya is over! I need to move forward, open a new book and for that its my duty and responsibility to close the previous book!
Achha, was there never a conflict in your mind about uprooting yourself from a well established show and moving on to the uncertainties of the future?
SV: Yes,'Balika Vadhu' is still a high -TRP's show, but this TRP's game is not for me. I firmly believe that a path without risks is just not the right path for you I am a selfish actor and I want to keep surprising the audience!
What is your personal take on such long running Shows?
SV: What happens in these cases is that you don't know where story is heading.Everything is worked out only to please TRP's. That's why I don't watch TV,today!
So what would you say what Balika Vadhu gave to you in the final analysis?
SV: It has been my School and my Workshop! It has been magical for me. It changed the whole world of a struggler who was living in Gurudwaras and rickety buildings- that's me!
And in this huge stint there, what are the scenes that have been left with you to this day?
SV: Plenty of them-particularly,the scene where I had to enact a 16-page script as multiple Jagyas were talking to each other on the screen was the most memorable!
Finally, what is going across your mind at this Alvida moment?
SV: Just that memories'are good, but they pull you back!Memories should just be kept in back seat, while'Dreams' have to be by your side as they push you forward! And I have to thank all my fans for all their showers of love on me-keep doing that for my next role, too!
-V.B-
Amen to Shashank's new dreams! We hope he is able to clean his slate and Jagya no more haunts his on-screen identity...As an Actor,he was brilliant as Jagya--we are excited to see what he does to another character ...Awaiting!
