Revealed: Nargis Fakhri to play Sangeeta Bijlani in Azhar bio-pic

The casting of the Mohammed Azharuddin bio-pic gets more interesting by the week. While Emraan Hashmi's first look as Azhar has already created a sensation for going into dark areas of the famed cricketer's life and profession, the casting of the women in Azharuddin's life has so far been problematic.

While Prachi Desai has been confirmed in the role of Azhar's first wife Naureen, the casting of the second wife, model-turned-actress-turned-homemaker Sangeeta Bijlani has so far been on hold.

There were strong rumours of Kareena Kapoor Khan filling the bill. But the actress apparently declined the role as she didn't want to play a living person who is in the limelight.

Other names were also bandied.

It can now be divulged that Nargis Fakhri has finally been penciled in to play Sangeeta Bijlani in the Azharuddin bio-pic. According to a source in the know, "Director Tony D'Souza and producer Ekta Kapoor wanted an actress who was also a model, and one who could be stunning sensuous and appealing in a very classy way. Nargis fulfills all these pre-condtions. She is on as Sangeeta."

You forgot Huma Qureshi. She might be seen here as a badminton player and a good friend of Emraans character Azhar.

The cast of Tony D'Souza's Azhar, the bio-pic on the life of the cricketing icon Mohammed Azharuddin, gets more intriguing every week After signing Emraan Hashmi in the title role, Prachi Desai as his first wife and Nargis Fakhri as his second wife, the film's producers have now roped in Huma Qureshi to play another stellar role.

It's the role of a third female protagonist, apparently based on the badminton player Jwala Gutta, who was to be earlier played by Nimrat Kaur. The tabloids were abuzz some years ago with news of the cricketer's friendship with the bandminton champ.

The role has apparently been modified to suit the script.

Breathe easy, guys. Huma won't be playing shown playing badminton. While Nimrat opted out for "date reasons" Huma apparently has no such issues.

Nimrat Kaur was suppose to play the Lawyer but she changed her mind because the role wasn't big enough.

The teaser was fantatstic. 👏

Emraan totally looked like Azhar with those collars up and a bent neck walk. 😃

Azhar and Emran both came on extra innings during IPL for teaser launch and Emraan has done a lot of research and got every question right in Azhar Quiz 👏

Salman Khan rumored to play himself in Azhar.

When asked Ekta who will play Salman Khan in Sangeeta's life? Ekta said no one can be Salman Khan, there is only Salman himself.. If there isn't anyone who can play Salman, then there is no Salman in this film..

Salman-Ekta have a good bond. If Ekta insists,and it's really required Salman might.
