Inseparable hearts
Chapter 10
'Rashmi?' Madhu was surprised to see her after a long time.'Madhu.' Rashmi came forward & gave her a hug.
'Oh my god! after a long time!' Madhu was surprised to see her.
'Yeah! I came back to India for a short holiday.' 'I went to your place & got to know that you are still here in Pune, so thought of visiting you!' Rashmi smiled.
Madhu accompanied Rashmi to the living room. Rashmi inquired about Naani & Madhu informed that she has gone to the temple.
'So Madhu, how have you been?' Madhu was silent with Rashmi's question. Tears started forming in her eyes. Rashmi came forward & put her hands on Madhu's shoulders.
'Madhu...' She spoke gently. Madhu was looking down. Rashmi caressed her hair.
'Madhu... I.. I know what are you going through. When I went to your place, your mom told about you.'
Tears started rolling down Madhu's eyes. Rashmi cupped her face.
'Madhu.. Madhu what have you done yourself hmm?' Rashmi inquired in a calm tone. Madhu kept silent.
'Madhu.. Madhu how come you hid your relationship with Rishabh from me huh? He is our friend before he became your lover.'
'Rash please. Don't expect me to give explanations. Our relationship was hidden on a mutual agreement.' Madhu replied.
Rashmi was quite surprised to see the change of Madhu's behavior. That old naive Madhu has changed to a strong, determined person.
'I'm sorry for asking, but how will you tackle all these things alone huh? I mean, you got pregnant before marriage and..'
'Thanks for your concern, but I can take care of myself Rash. Madhu interrupted. ' I will give birth to my child & will raise him or her with my Rishabh.' Madhu replied.
Madhu's pregnancy news made Rashmi burn in jealousy. Madhu & Rishabh's baby will be a burden for her to carry out her plans. Madhu was unaware about this.
Later Rashmi had a positive talk with Madhu. Rashmi assured that she will be with Madhu no matter what & will help out them. She was surprised to hear that Madhu still hasn't informed Rishabh about her pregnancy. Madhu ordered her not to reveal about this to Rishabh till he returns.
Months passed by. It wasn't a smooth journey. Madhu had so many complications in her pregnancy as she was only 19 years old & too fragile to bear up a child. She was advised to rest well. Meanwhile Rishabh was scheduled to come back to India in another week. Madhu was excited. She couldn't wait till he comes.
'Rishu! bring me lots of toys & chocolates!' Madhu demanded when Rishabh asked Madhu what she wants from Australia.
'Chocolates are already in my list baby! but toys? seriously Madhu? you want toys?'Rishabh was astonished.
'Yeah I don't want anything else!' Madhu replied. Rishu, you will get to know why I wanted toys when you come. Madhu self thought.
'So you don't want to bring anything from that long list you gave me when I was about to come here?' Rishabh chuckled. Madhu re called the memories how she demanded him to bring lots of stuff from Australia.
'No! nothing but toys and chocolates.'
'Toys? what for?' Rishabh was puzzled
'No more questions please!'
'As you wish ma'am.'
'I love you Rishu.'
'I love you too Madhu. Can't wait to meet you next week.'
'Same here. I'm just counting days. Await a huge surprise when you come!'
'Huh? surprise? what is that?'
'Shh.. that's a secret!'
'Okay ma'am!'
Madhu never thought that it would be their last phone conversation. Rishabh went to a huge mall the next day & bought a lot of toys on Madhu's demand. He loved her crazyness. He is yet to be surprised with the most important news in his life. Rishabh was unaware that Madhu was carrying his baby. He was unaware that he purchased a lot of toys not for Madhu, but for their baby.
Then the unexpected tragedy happened. While he was driving back from the mall, Rishabh's car was collided with a truck in a motor way in Brisbane. Rishabh was injured severely & his car was damaged too. He was unconscious in the intensive care unit for a couple of days. Thankfully his life has been saved.
Madhu was worried when she didn't hear from him for a couple of days. She assumed that he may be busy. Finally the arrival date of Rishabh arrived but Madhu was worried more when he didn't even call her before his flight. She thought that he must be planning to surprise her. 2 days passed but there wasn't any news. That made Madhu impatient. It's been more than a week that Rishabh was out of touch with her. She tried calling numerous times but Rishabh didn't answer. Madhu didn't have any of the contact numbers of Rishabh's friends in Brisbane. Finally she decided to call his father. She dialed the Kundra mansion.
The answer she heard from the other end shocked her to death. She got to know about Rishabh's accident & Mohan has gone to Australia to see him. That news almost made her unconscious. Madhu was about to collapse & thankfully Neha came there on time. Madhu was rushed to the hospital. The doctors advised that since she has many complications, she should be more careful & she should be in a good mental state. Madhu was restless. She wanted to see Rishabh, but it was not possible at that moment. She couldn't wait till she gets a news.
Finally she could contact Mohan. He asked her not to worry & informed that Rishabh is out of danger. Madhu was craving to hear Rishabh's voice. Time passed but she couldn't contact him. It was nearly 2 months after Rishabh's accident & Madhu was in her 8th month of pregnancy.
Madhu became weak day by day. She was drowning in a pool of misery. She refused to eat well & take care of her. She ignored the health check ups. She couldn't think of anyone except her Rishabh. Her grandmother advised her & tried to convince her many times but she was not ready to listen. Finally she decided to contact Mohan about this but she failed.
Meanwhile Rishabh was recovering. He didn't want to let Madhu know about his accident. He was unaware that Mohan had almost informed about it to Madhu & she is passing a hard time. He knew that Madhu might be pissed off at him for being out of contact. He decided to come back to India soon. He knew that Madhu would forgive him after meeting him. He decided to surprise her. But he never thought that this lack of communication would guide to a lot of problems in their lives.
After a month.
Madhu was weeping looking at her photograph with Rishabh which was taken before Rishabh's departure. Tears were rolling down her eyes. She caressed her almost 9 months old swollen belly. She felt her baby's kick.
'Baby, I know you too miss your daddy!' 'I miss him more than anyone. I wonder why he doesn't he talk to me anymore! Hope he is fine. I wanna go to him!' Madhu kept talking to her unborn baby. Madhu felt quite uncomfortable after sometime. She felt that her contractions have started. She screamed in pain. She felt dizzy. The photo frame slipped from her hand & hit the floor. The glass was broken, almost separating them in the photograph.
Madhu was rushed to the hospital. She was in labour. It was difficult for her. She wasn't much strong enough to bear up the pains. She cried out of pain. Her cries became louder & louder with every contraction. Madhu's grandmother & Neha were there in the hospital. She informed Rashmi about Madhu. Rashmi was already on her way to Pune.
Madhu was on labour for more than 4 hours. The doctor informed Madhu's grandmother that Madhu's condition is crucial. There were many complications. The doctors further informed that there is a major threat to Madhu's life. Madhu's grandmother was helpless. Rashmi came there & assured her that nothing will happen to the baby or Madhu. She went inside to discuss with the doctor.
After 6 hours of labour, Madhu gave birth to a baby girl. Madhu was almost unconscious after the delivery. Her condition was critical. Madhu's grandmother & Neha was worried about her. Rashmi was there outside with trying to console them. She was pretending to be worried about Madhu. A master plan was working on her mind to separate Madhu & Rishabh. She knew that she has to carry out it carefully not letting anyone to spoil it.
Finally the doctor came out of the theater. Madhu's grandmother & Neha were waiting with much anticipation.
'Doctor? doctor how is Madhu?' Madhu's grandmother was worried.
'Umm.. Mrs. Verma. Your granddaughter gave birth to a baby girl.'
'Really? Oh my god! I became a great grandmother!' She wiped happy tears. But her happiness lasted only for a few seconds.
'Mrs. Verma. I'm sorry to say, but both the mother & the baby is not doing well.'Madhu's grandmother broke down after hearing the doctor's words. The doctor informed that Madhu was unconscious & she has gone for a coma. The baby was transferred in to the Neonatal intensive care unit. The doctor informed that they are trying their best to make Madhu regain her consciousness soon but they asked not to keep high hopes on baby's life. Madhu's grandmother kept praying for Madhu & her baby's well being.
Meanwhile Madhu's grandmother wanted to contact Rishabh somehow. Neha assured that she will somehow try to get in touch with Rishabh & inform about Madhu. She kept trying calling Rishabh but she eventually failed.
After a day, the doctor confirmed that Madhu's baby is no more. The doctor stated out that they couldn't save the baby girl as she had so many bad health complications which are incurable. Madhu's grandmother was shattered by the news. She knew that Madhu cannot live without her baby & Rishabh.
Madhu regained her consciousness after 5 days. She was waiting to hold her baby in her arms. She'd been dreaming till that moment but unfortunately everything was broken into pieces. The doctor informed that her baby was no more. Madhu couldn't believe it. She didn't want to believe it. She cried out for her baby.
Madhu's grandmother entered the room. Madhu was looking away lifelessly. She was numb. She was running out of tears. She was exhausted, & didn't have any tears to shed. She couldn't even catch a glimpse of her baby girl.
'Madhu...' Her grandmother caressed her face. Tears started rolling down Madhu's eyes after seeing her. She hugged her tightly & started crying her heart out.
'Naani.. naani please! please ask them to bring back my baby! please!' Her grandmother didn't know what to say. She was in tears too. She tried to console her granddaughter.
'Naani.. naani please tell Rishu! Please tell Rishu to bring back our baby. Please I want her. I want both of them.' Madhu kept weeping.
'Madhu please! Calm down Madhu. please take care of yourself Madhu.' 'Nothing is in our hands.' Her grandmother sighed. 'Now your baby is with god. She is safe there.'She tried to console her.
Madhu caressed her belly which she'd been carrying her baby girl for the past few months. How much she was impatient to see her new born baby girl's face. How'd she been dreaming to start a new life with her baby & Rishabh. Everything has fallen apart.
'Why did you leave mommy huh? why? were you angry with me for not letting your daddy know about you?' Madhu was crying. She was told that her baby was gone. Her world was shattered in to pieces. The only hope she had to live was Rishabh. She wanted to approach Rishabh soon but it never happened. Madhu's life was changed drastically after her delivery. She never ever expected that destiny would be this much cruel. She almost lost her baby girl & Rishabh was no longer by her side.
Meanwhile Rishabh arrived in India. He didn't inform Madhu about his arrival. He knew that Madhu would not forgive him for being out of touch with her for the past few months. But he knew that Madhu cannot stay without him. By the time Rashmi was in contact with Rishabh's father Mohan. Mohan was shocked to hear that Madhu was pregnant with Rishabh's child. He couldn't believe it.
Rashmi further stated out that Madhu died 2 days after the delivery & the child is under care of someone else. Mohan was worried how Rishabh would react to this. He was puzzled why Madhu kept it hidden from all of them. Mohan didn't know how to tell about this news to his son. He kept quiet till he returns home.
After a day of Rishabh's arrival Rashmi visited the Kundra mansion with Rishabh & Madhu's baby girl. Rishabh was shocked to see Rashmi carrying a baby in her arms.
'Rashmi you?' Rishabh was surprised to see her with a baby.
'Hi Rishu.' She greeted him with a smile.
'Rashmi you? with a baby?' Rishabh was puzzled. 'Whose baby is this?'
'Yours.' Rashmi replied. Rishabh was stunned.
Pre cap - The baby was crying hard. Rishabh didn't know what to do. He tried to pacify his baby girl. The baby was crying top her lungs. He went around the rooms showing many objects but she didn't calm down. Finally he took her near the wind chime which Madhu gifted him on their 1st anniversary. For his surprise, the baby stopped crying after hearing to the melodious sound of it.
