It took me a long time to get here, rasta bhool gayi thi mein lekin I have reached my destination now. Oh by the way, chappals tomatoes or eggs hai mere paas... chahiye kya...for putting this up so late! 😡 We had that discussion nah like ages ago...Khair chodo, let me give my comments:

Can I say that it makes me very happy that you finally decided to post this! 😃 Saach mein, this is hidden talent Sanam.

You write so nicely and with such an ease that story just comes alive. It was like the start of the show but then actually better, because Ragini's feelings were highlighted so much better here. The interaction and relationship with her kids is lovely to read.
You took care of everything. Proud of you my dear!

Really looking forward tot the next chapter and hopefully it will be a grand entry of Nachiket meri jaan 😳 Can't wait to read how these two will bump into each other after 16 long years...

Finally! 😎 I'm wearing it too now 😆

Thank you so much Narges..you gave me the motivation to continue and Ragini encouraged me to post it 😳 and everyone to continue writing. 😊

Please itni tareef hazam nai hoti mujhse 😆
I was so waiting for your comment..because you were the first one to read and it took ages. But der se hi magar durust aye 😆

Thank you Nargesey! 🤗 I'm really glad you liked it. 😳 I just wrote it to highlight Ragini's emotions and you know Ashaben 😉

Second chapter soon, I'm almost done with it. And one confession I kinda dread writing..islie time lagta hai likhne mein 😆

This is just amazing and one of my all time favorites. Please do update as soon as possible.
I just love how you showed the bonds flourishing between Ragini and her children. The life they're living and I just loved the cute seen between Aarav and bade nani. You beautifully explained Ragini's sacrifices and the cause why her children can attend one of the best schools in the city. Just beautiful.👏

Chapter 1b

Ke nigahen dhoondti hain tumhe is bheed mein bhi,

Laut aao ab bahut der hochuki..

Manhattan, New York

He was deep in a sleep when he heard someone calling his name.

"Neil! Uth jao!" Nachiket heard his sister, Pam's voice, who was shouting at him to wake him up. "I have already set the breakfast, bache aur mein tumhara wait kar rahe hain. You better be quick."

Nachiket just groaned.. still hungover. He was having a bad headache.

He sat up while rubbing his eyes and opened them to see Pam, standing there with her arms crossed and looking at him with a serious face.

"Good morning! Uth gae ap?" She said in an irritated tone.

"Good morning... Pam."

"Ab dekh kya rahe ho. Jaldi karo!" Pam said while making her way to the door. "Itni peete hi kyun ho tum. You know you're always late for the breakfast!" she said while pointing at him and left the room.

Nachiket sat there for a few minutes.. he remembered the dream he just had. His mornings always started like this. No, he didn't drink daily; only once or twice a week. But the dreams.. he still has those dreams which would take him to his past.. to the beautiful past which he would refuse to acknowledge. And, it would leave him wondering how it was all so fresh in his dreams, even after so many,...many years. Nachiket smiled while remembering it. But then shrugged it off.

He quickly got fresh and joined Agham, Suhani, Ranbir and Pam at the breakfast table,

"Good morning everyone. I'm sorry, I'm late." He smiles.

"Good morning Dad!" Agham and Suhani excitedly greeted their Dad.

"Good morning Dad." Ranbir says in a rather casual tone.

"Dad, you're late again!" Suhani complained "Aap roz late kardete ho"

"Really? Is it me or you who is always late?" Nachiket winked teasing his daughter.

"Dad" Suhani blushed a little, "You always do this"

"Acha baba, I'm sorry. Can we eat now? I'm hungry." Nachiket says while eying the food on the table.

"Yes, let's eat." Suhani picks up the glass of orange juice, "Dad your orange juice."

Everyone starts eating.

"Dad," Agham calls his father with his mouthful, "Aaj ap jaldi arahe ho na wapis?"

"Why? Aaj kuch khaas hai?" Nachiket replies to him, a little surprised.

"Dad, how can you forget?" Suhani complained.

"Aaj party hai na humare ghar. Remember humne ap ko ek week pehle bataya tha." Agham tried to remind him.

"Now don't tell us you're busy. No bahana's this time." Suhani looked at his father's changing expressions and pleadingly said,

"Dad, please don't say No"

"Dekho beta, you know I don't like these parties. Wese bhi I have an important meeting today. You guys enjoy yourselves. If you need anything just give me a call." He said while patting Suhani's cheek.

"Oh, Pam loves these parties," Nachiket said while pointing towards her, "I'm sure you will enjoy with her."

"You always do this, Dad.." Suhani says in a lower voice.

"I'm sorry beta, but I have an important meeting. We'll go out on Sunday, just the five of us. OK?" Nachiket tried to make it up to his daughter who seemed to be fine with the idea though she still wanted her Dad to join the party.

It was a celebration party for Agham's high school graduation. Nachiket gifted him the latest model of his favorite video game console the day his result was announced.

"Now breakfast done na?" Pam says after everyone has finished their breakfast, "C'mon sub log ready hokar go to your office college and wherever you go. And Suhani, leave the plates here. Servants hain na tumhe kaam karne ki kya zarurat hai. You get ready for your school. Go!"

Suhani puts down the plates on the table and goes to her room. She quickly gets ready and joins Agham in his room. She is not surprised to see Agham setting his hair in front of the mirror.

She clears her throat,

"Agham tu 24 ghante mein se 12 ghante to mirror k samne guzaarta hai. Phir bhi ladkiyan tujh mein interested nai." Suhani giggles.

"Chup kar Suhani, tujhe kya pata. Ladkiyan marti hai mujh per." Agham says still setting his hairstyle. "Mein hi unko ignore karta hun. You know tera bhai kitna dashing hai."

"Ha ha ha. Ladkiyan or tujh par." Suhani laughs.

"Suhani!" Ranbir calls Suhani. "Tum idher ho. Where's Agham?"

"Bhai..Agham idher hai. He was telling me k sari ladkiyan is per marti hain" Suhani said giggling.

"Really?" Ranbir looks at Agham, "Suhani, Agham is right actually. Usne tumhe bataya nahin last party mein Angela.."

"Kya? Kya?" Suhani asked curiously.

"Kuch nai, wo itna important nai. Chalo late horaha hai na." Agham tried to push Suhani to get going. But Ranbir stopped him,

"Ruk na. Suhani ko batane de mujhe k kese tujh par ladkiyan marti hain. Wo kya hai na ke.." Ranbir started telling the story to Suhani.

"Bhai.." Agham couldn't believe it. He tried to stop him but Ranbir was in no mood to stop.

"Angela wanted to meet Dad, tou Agham said wo usko milaega. He took her to his own room and thodi der baad aik zor ki awaz ayi. Angela guse mein bahir ayi. And then humare dashing bhai, Agham hath apne galon par rakhe hue bahir aye."

Ranbir and Suhani were laughing and Agham was all embarrassed.

"Haan haan chalo." Agham said while going out of his room.

"Agham tu bhi na" Suhani said while following him. They both walked to Nachiket's room.

Nachiket stood near the window in his room. He was lost in this thoughts when Suhani and Agham entered his room. They got a little upset to see their father like that.

"Dad?" Agham's voice broke Nachiket's thoughts.

"Ha? Chalen, you guys are ready?"

"Hum to kab se ready hain. Bas aap.."

"I'm ready too, let's leave." Nachiket quickly walked past them and was out of the room.

Agham and Suhani were a little surprised. They looked at each other and then followed him.

"We're leaving Pam, bye. Have a good day," Nachiket said while making his way towards the front door.

"Bye Mom, I'm leaving too!" Ranbir said.

"Bhai, humare sath chalo naa aj." Suhani asks Ranbir to join them.

"Rehne de na Suhani, ye bade log hain. Humare sath kyun jaega ye." Agham gives him a big smile.

"Agham, you! Anyways, bye !" Ranbir leaves.

"Bye bhai." Agham and Suhani both say at the same time.

"Bye, Mom!" Suhani hugged Pam.

"Bye, Pam." Agham says gleefully.

"Pam?? Mom kahan gaya?"

"Oops..Mom! Aap to kha jaoge warna mujhe."

Pam tries to slap him but he runs away following Suhani who is following Nachiket.

Nachiket dropped Suhani and Agham at their high school and then he headed to the hospital.

Nachiket is one of the most famous cardiologists of New York and ever since he came to U.S, he got himself so busy in the work that he barely had time for himself. It was just his family he would spend his leisure time with.

***

Nachiket parked his car in the basement and checked his wristwatch. It was half past 10 at night. He was not sure if the party would still be going on but he couldn't sit idle in the hospital either.

He got off the car and walked to the elevator. After five minutes he was standing at the front door of his Penthouse. Nachiket hesitated a little and then cautiously started walking towards his room, trying to avoid any attention. He sighed as he entered the room and threw the suitcase on his bed. Nachiket didn't turn on the lights and stood there in his dark room.

Loud music could be heard along with the cheers and laughter's.

He looked in the direction of the noise.. bright lights, a blurred vision of people; dancing and celebrating. He instantly looked away and walked to the little bar in his room. Pouring a glass of drink he sauntered towards the glass panels.

With his forearm rested against the glass, Nachiket stared out at the dark gloomy sky.. reflecting his own emotions. Parties always made him like this. He would be left alone all by himself. Fighting his own self. Lost in thoughts. He would just stand there for hours and stare out blankly.

Dad aaj ap jaldi arahe ho na wapis. Remember humne ap ko ek week pehle bataya tha.

Dad, please don't say No. You always do this, Dad.

Agham and Suhani's words echoed in his ears. He felt a little guilt inside. I'm sorry beta, lekin mein kaise samjhaun tum dono ko why I don't like these parties. In fact, your Dad once loved these parties. But I can't..just can't attend these parties now.

It wasn't that Nachiket never liked parties. But, for the last many years he has become too reserved, he keeps all to himself. He doesn't even have any close friends in this country. He didn't make any..

Nachiket is lost in his thoughts when someone walks into his room and turns on the lights.

"Dad?" Agham is surprised to see him there.

"Dad aap aagaye?" Suhani asked Nachiket, apparently not surprised.

"Bas abhi aya hun. How's your party going on? Kisi cheez ki zarurat to nai?" Nachiket said while putting the glass on the top of table.

"Dad, hai na.. bas aap nai ho." Suhani says in a little louder voice. "But, now you are here. Tou chalo let's party. I want you to meet my new friend" She says excitedly and holds Nachiket's arm to go out.

"Suhani, Suhani. I'm really tired beta. Loud music tha so I couldn't sleep but I guess the party would be over in a while tou I will just freshen up and go to bed if you don't mind."

"Okay Dad. But aap ne khana khaya na?" Suhani asks him.

"Yes, I had my dinner at the hospital. Now you guys go and enjoy yourself."

"Okay Dad! Good night. I love you!" Suhani says while hugging him.

Agham also joins them, "Good night Dad! I love you too!"

While the three of them were talking Ranbir also entered the room and joined the father children hug.

Nachiket hugs them back and kisses Suhani's and Agham's forehead. "Good night. Now go and lights off kar ke jana."

When the kids leave Nachiket goes to washroom, freshens up and comes out in a while. The party is still going on so he sits at the edge of his bed.

Normally at this hour everyone at his home has slept. Nachiket usually comes back from work at 6 in the evening and is always surprised to see Agham and Suhani's excitement and their energy. Till the time they sleep, Agham and Suhani talk almost non-stop and unfold all their daily activities. Nachiket patiently listens to them though not much participating. He is always proud to see the bonding they both share.

Nachiket wanted another glass of drink but decided not to after remembering his 'subah subah k lectures by Pam'. By now, the party has ended so he lies down on his bed and sleeps. His phone rings after a while when he is deep in a sleep.

Is waqt kon phone kar raha hai! Nachiket groans. He sits up irritated and checks his phone. He is a little surprised to see the caller id.

It is from India.
