Inseparable hearts
Chapter 9
It was her standing in front of him with Pari. Rishabh couldn't believe his eyes. He rubbed his eyes off with a confusion. Is it really her? Rishabh was astonished. But how is it possible? His Madhu died 6 years back. One the other hand Madhu was stunned to see her Rishu standing in front of her. It was him, whom she lost 6 years back.
'Madhu... Madhu.. you? are you alive?' Finally Rishabh blurt out with a extreme shock.
Madhu couldn't utter a single word. She kept staring at him. The eyes of him she was missing for the past 6 years. Madhu couldn't figure out that she was dreaming or not. She didn't know how to react. She was totally dumbstruck. A silence crept between them. But it was loud & it spoke a thousand words, the pain of separation & the unexpected encounter after 6 long years.
'Rishu?' Finally she uttered his name. He heard her voice after 6 long years. He couldn't believe what was happening around. Her voice which he'd been missing for such a long time, it almost echoed in his soul. He was all numb. Madhu came a step forward.
It was really him! Madhu couldn't describe her extreme happiness into words. Tears started rolling down her eyes, mixed with all her emotions of happiness & pain. She didn't know how to pour out her feelings. How much she was longing to be with him. Destiny was cruel for both of them at some point of life, but the same destiny has brought them back together.
Madhu took a few steps ahead & she was almost closer to him. They shared an eye lock. Happiness mixed with pain was clearly visible in Madhu's eyes. Rishabh's eyes were filled with surprise.
'Madhu.' He cupped her face. That single touch gave Madhu goosebumps. Feeling each other after a long time. Rishabh felt the gentleness of her face & Madhu felt the warmth of his hands.
'Madhu I can't believe this!' Finally Rishabh started speaking. He is still in a state of shock. Madhu hugged him tightly in the very next second. Rishabh too hugged her back. They were longing to be in each other's arms. The love birds were lost in each other. Madhu felt the scent of him, after 6 long years. She hugged him more tightly burring her face on his chest. Tears were running out of her eyes continuously, almost wetting his shirt.
Meanwhile Pari was shocked to see her teacher hugging her father. She never expected such a thing. It made the little soul uncomfortable. She was unaware that it was her mom. No matter how much Pari loves her teacher she hated the fact that another woman hugging her father other than her mom.
'Daddy!!' Pari pulled her father back. Madhu & Rishabh parted away. It brought both of them to reality. Pari was almost hugging her father from the waist. She was in a state of shock & confusion.
'D..daddy?' Madhu was shocked. Pari looked at her father with a confusion. She was almost hiding behind her father with fear. He held Pari's hand & took her to front. A smile crept on Rishabh's face with pride. Finally the scattered family have been brought together by the destiny.
'Madhu... this is our Pari' Rishabh introduced their daughter to Madhu. Madhu was astonished to hear those words. Her long lost daughter is standing in front of her. Her lost baby girl has grown up. She is none other than her student. Her little angel whom she thought to be in heaven is alive! Safely with her father.
'Pari? but.. but how come?' Madhu was surprised. She couldn't express her happiness. She was kept in dark for the past 6 years that her daughter was no more, but she is alive, under the protection of her father.
Rishabh nodded. Pari was confused. Madhu was right. She always felt a connection between Pari & her. Today it was cleared out that Pari is her daughter. She wasn't dead. Then how would she ended up with Rishabh? Why didn't Rishabh inform her about her? Why Rishabh didn't care to meet her? Lot's of questions were popping up in Madhu's mind.
She couldn't wait anymore. She hugged Pari tightly leaving all her doubts aside. The reunion with her baby girl was emotional. Madhu couldn't speak a single word. She kept hugging her little soul tightly, holding her close to her heart. She felt the gentleness of Pari. Pari was her Rishabh's, his blood. Their symbol of love. Tears of happiness were running out of her eyes.
In the other hand Pari couldn't figure out what was happening. The poor soul was hell confused. She looked at her dad waiting for an explanation. She broke the hug with her mother. Madhu cupped her face. Rishabh came closer to them.
'Baby! Hope you loved daddy's surprise.'
'Umm.. yeah it's awesome but daddy?' Pari was confused. Rishabh knew that his little girl is waiting for an answer from him.
'You know what Pari? more over everything your mommy surprised both of us!' Rishabh smiled amidst happy tears.
'My mommy?' Pari was shocked again. She looked at Madhu. Madhu was staring at her with tears eyes & a radiant smile. Madhu slowly nodded her head.
'Daddy? what's happening? I can't understand anything!' Pari was helpless. Rishabh didn't want to make his little girl wait for more. He revealed the truth of her mom.
'Baby! You won't believe this, but it is the truth. Do you know who is this?'
'Why not? Of course I do! it's my Madhu ma'am.' Pari replied with a smile.
'She is not only your teacher. She is your mom Pari! Rishabh leaned down near them.
'Huh?' Pari was shocked & surprised at the same time. She always treated her teacher specially. She loved her Madhu ma'am no less than her mother. But she never thought that these two women who are close to her heart is actually a single person. The happiest part of it that her Madhu ma'am is her own mom.
'Mommy?' She called her Madhu ma'am 'mommy' for the first time. Madhu's happiness knew no bounds after hearing it. She planted a kiss on her tiny forehead.
'Pari.. Pari please say it once again please!' Madhu was emotional. How she'd been excited to be called 'Mommy' by her child. Unfortunately she had to wait 6 long years to hear that golden word, which almost changed her whole wide world. It added a new meaning to her motherhood.
'Mommy!! is this really you? Mommy!' A smile crept on little Pari's face. Madhu cupped her face & showered her with lots of kisses. She hugged her daughter back tightly.
Rishabh was looking at them smiling. Lots of questions arose in his mind about Madhu. How she has come here? why he was told that Madhu was dead? He was impatient to get answers for his questions, but he didn't want to spoil the moments between Pari & Madhu's reunion.
After a few minutes they broke the hug. Madhu caressed Pari's hair. 'I can't believe this! I can't believe I found my Pari! I... I got back my Pari & Rishu' Madhu was smiling brightly. Pari wiped her tears. Madhu kissed her tiny hand. Madhu looked at Rishabh. Both of them were waiting to sort out the confusion.
'Daddy!! daddy how is mommy here? you told me that she is in the heaven & she will never come back!' Pari popped up a question.
'What? how? how come you tell our daughter that I.. I was no more?' Madhu was shocked.
'And... how... how come Pari is with you safely when I was told that she was no more!'Madhu almost cried uttering the sentence.
'What?' Rishabh was more surprised. He realized that they were stuck in a puzzle of problems. There were many questions unanswered.
'Madhu! I.. I need to talk with you!' At that time Gauri came to the living room. Pari ran to her grandmother.
'Daadi! guess what? Daddy gave me the biggest surprise today!' Pari almost hugged her.
'I know my little princess got a huge surprise because daddy returned home from Canberra.'
'Oh no! not only that! something bigger than that!' Pari giggled.
'Huh? what is that?' Gauri was clueless.
'Mommy came home!' Pari replied with a smile.
'Mommy? whose mommy?'
'My mommy!'
'Your mommy? what? how come?' Gauri was shocked too.
'That is my mommy!' 'She is not in heaven daadi'' Pari pointed towards Madhu. Gauri was astonished to see Pari called her teacher mom.
'Rishabh? what is this? how come Miss. Madhu?'
'Yes Maassi, she is Madhu. My Madhu!' Rishabh replied.
'But.. but Rishu? wasn't she..um..dead?'
'That is a mystery maassi! Madhu is not dead. She is alive!' 'We need to solve this puzzle.' 'Madhu I need to talk with you!' Rishabh held her hand & took her outside the house. He accompanied her to the lawn.
Both of them were silent for a while, but they were impatient to know about each other. Madhu came forward.
'Rishu...! how? how come you leave me huh?' 'You.. you forgot about me! you.. you married someone else right?' Madhu inquired him.
'Me? got married? to whom? what are you talking about Madhu?
'Didn't you?' 'Huh?' 'Then how come?' Madhu flash backed.
Past - Madhu's POV
Madhu's grandmother was extremely angry & frustrated on Madhu for breaking her trust. More over, it was a huge responsibility for her to look after Madhu. She could imagine what will happen if Madhu's parents get to know about this pregnancy. Madhu almost cried that night. She never expected that their romantic night would result such a thing. She thoroughly regretted for being physically united with Rishabh before marriage. She realized why Rishabh was guilty after their consummation. She was in a dilemma how to tell about this news to him.
She started hating her life. She knew that Rishabh cannot come to her after the very next second she breaks out the news. She knew that it would affect Rishabh's studies. But a part of Rishabh is growing inside her. A new life was forming inside her. It was their child, their symbol of love. She couldn't ignore it. She knew that her father would kill her if he gets to know about it. If not, surely the baby would be destroyed by them.
Madhu gained courage. She stated her grandmother that she is ready to face anything. She wanted to give birth to Rishabh's child. She vowed that she will give birth to the child & raise him or her. She told her grandmother that she will start a new life with Rishabh soon. But Madhu was hesitant to tell about her pregnancy to him. She was afraid how he would react to it. She was worried that he would leave all aside & would come to meet her. She didn't want his studies to get affected. She decided to keep it hidden from him till he returns back to India in another 6 months. During that time Rishabh used to call her but she pretended to talk to him normally, concealing her sorrows.
Love grew towards her unborn child. It was special because it was his child, growing inside her. It was his blood, circulating inside her womb. Finally Madhu could go through her exams well with all the obstacles & she was able to top the batch. She was barely 2 months pregnant when she passed out from the university. It was hidden from everyone except her closest friend Neha. Neha was hell worried for Madhu. She suggested Madhu numerous times that she should inform Rishabh, but Madhu didn't listen to her.
On the 3rd month of her pregnancy her family members came to visit her to Pune. Malik wanted her to take back to Mumbai because her university studies are over. Madhu's grandmother couldn't hide it from her parents. She insisted that Madhu's parents have a right to know about it.
Finally Madhu's pregnancy news which has been under wraps was revealed to her parents. Both Malik & Padmini were shocked. They couldn't believe it at all. Malik became furious. He slapped Madhu twice & she was about to fall, her mother held her. He taunted him for her misbehavior & swore her that he would not let Rishabh live. Madhu was panicked. She pleaded him not to kill her child's father. That made him more angry.
'How dare you continue your affair with that b*stard? how dare you behave like that before your marriage?' Malik roared. Madhu's grandmother & Padmini were trying to calm him down, but he was not ready to listen to any of them.
'Papa please! mind your words' Finally Madhu gained some courage to speak against her father. She'd been suffering in her entire life time so far. Only Rishabh brought a new meaning for her life. She was determined to start a new life with him.
'I know that I have done something that I shouldn't have done, but it is not a crime. It happened with both of our consent!'
'How dare you got such a courage to talk huh? Are you trying to justify your misbehavior?' Malik spoke furiously.
'Nobody understood me other than Rishabh! You! you don't have even got an idea how miserable my life was from my birth! I never got the love I'd been expecting from my parents. I know you provided me with all the necessary luxurious comforts but neither of you were close to me emotionally. You never understood my real needs! When I wanted to run away from my miserable life, Rishabh saved me. He only gave a true meaning to my life! He only coloured my dark life with his love & care! Words kept flowing from Madhu's mouth. Her parents were stunned. Specially Malik, he was shocked to see Madhu's transformation.
'Just stop it! Are you trying to teach me about the morals? Malik was fuming. His ego was above all. Madhu's words couldn't make him melt. He didn't have any sympathy for his own daughter.
Madhu was silent. She knew that her father would never understand her.
'I will never let you unite with Mohan Kundra's son! Dare you go away with him! You are a stigma to my family! You will not give birth to this child! Remember one thing! Kundra family & Malik family won't be united ever! Only my death can stop it!' Malik spoke furiously.
'You are carrying Kundra blood inside you Madhu! it's a disgrace to my family! Malik was fuming.
Madhu came forward. She felt a something strong, like a nuclear power forming inside her. The love for her unborn child was above everything. She was determined to give birth to Rishabh's child. Their child will bring them more closer & strengthen their bond.
'Nobody can stop me giving birth to my Rishu's child. I can sacrifice anything for my baby & Rishabh. I don't need anyone else by my side, but them. I will give birth to my baby & will raise him with my Rishabh. Please! leave me alone!' Madhu replied.
Malik was stunned with her reply. But he didn't want to accept his defeat easily. Madhu was not ready to abort her child. She was stubborn. She will give birth to her child. Malik has already lost his patience. According to him, Madhu was a disgrace to his family.
'So you are not gonna change your decision? okay! then think that you are father is no more! & yeah you are dead for me Madhu! you are dead! Malik's words echoed inside the house. All were shocked to hear it.
'What.. what are you talking about?' 'How.. how can you?' Padmini cried out.
'Yes! I'm gonna cut off all the ties with my daughter today. She is dead to me now!'Malik roared.
'Malik! please try to understand.' Madhu's grandmother interrupted.
'Shut up!' 'I.. I trusted you! I trusted you that as an elder you will be strict to Madhu & will protect her. But no! I was wrong. You let her free & see the result! Malik chided her. Padmini was shocked to hear how her husband rebuked her mother. But she didn't have any courage to speak against him.
'Papa! just don't blame Naani! She's been there for me all the time when my own family refused me!' Madhu raised her voice.
'Just don't call me Papa here after!' Malik was fuming. He didn't want to stay there anymore. He dragged Padmini & was about to leave.
Padmini was helpless. She looked at Madhu with teary eyes.She caressed her face. Madhu cupped her face & wiped her tears.
'Don't worry maa. I'm gonna be fine!' Madhu faked a smile. Padmini hugged her tightly & started crying. Malik was staring at them.
'Padmini are you coming with me or not? If not I'm gonna leave all of you now!'
'M...malik please listen.' Padmini wanted to settle down everything between the father & the daughter. But the egoist Malik wasn't ready to listen.
'Shame on you as Madhu's parents! Is this the way you treat your child? Madhu committed something wrong & she sought forgiveness for that.' Madhu's grandmother spoke.
'It's a crime that cannot be forgiven!' Malik raised his voice.
'I will be with my granddaughter no matter what! She will be under my protection! I will help her to raise her child. I won't let anything happen to her or her unborn child!'Madhu's grandmother assured. Madhu's eyes were filled with tears. Malik & Padmini left.
Madhu's grandmother was upset with her for the past 3 months but today she assured that she will be with her.
'Naani.. naani I'm sorry!' Madhu hugged her & started crying. She wiped Madhu's tears.
'Madhu, the past mistakes cannot be mended, but you can correct your future.' She cupped her face. 'I'm proud of you Madhu. I'm proud how you handled the situation. I adore your determination. But promise me one thing.'
'What? tell me naani?'
'I will be with you & help you to look after your child. But never stop reaching your goals. Promise me that you would continue your studies after the delivery & reach your academic aspirations!'
'Naani.. umm..'
' If you are afraid how the society treats you, just don't care about it! They might insult you, but don't let them stop your journey!'
Madhu was pleased by her words. She never thought that her grandmother would support her even after breaking her trust.
'Madhu, you should inform Rishabh about your pregnancy. It's almost 3 months now.'
'Naani please. I don't want him to reveal about it till he returns back after another 3 months. If he gets to know about this he would come back the next day. I don't want this to affect his studies. These days he is stuck with a major project. He won't be able to concentrate.'
'But Madhu! As the father of the child, he has a right to know about this. He will chide you for hiding it from him.'
'Don't worry! If he chides, he has got nothing to do about it other than loving me & our child.' Madhu smiled.
'But Madhu don't take it lightly. You two need to get married soon to avoid further problems. It will be better for the safety of your child too. Hence we need to inform Rishabh & I doubt if Mohan Kundra will accept this.'
'Please naani. I just think of all the things right now. I'm fed up of thinking about my future. I know that I have to face so many obstacles, but for now I don't want to think about any of them.' Madhu replied.
After few days
Madhu was sitting on the swinging chair on the lawn, talking to her unborn baby.
'Guess what baby? your daddy will be coming in another 3 months. He still doesn't know about you. But I'm sure he will be happy to hear about you!' Madhu caressed her 3 months old belly, yet not that much visible.
'You don't have any tension baby! Be it a girl or a boy, mommy & daddy will welcome you lovingly. I just can't wait till you arrive & to start a new life with you & daddy!'Madhu smiled. She weaved dreams of her future with her Rishabh & their baby. Suddenly she heard a voice.
'Madhu!'
Madhu looked back. She was surprised to see a person whom she hadn't seen for nearly an year.
'Rashmi?'
