Plenty of such films.

Even before his death, in his last release Dev Anand had played hero to a girl younger than his grandkid and had a kissing scene with her.

There are plenty of films with balding, ageing, flabby Raaj Kumars, Rajesh Khannas, Jeetendras with way younger girls like Tina Munim, Padmini Kolhapure etc.

This generation's seniors aren't this gaya guzra. That was what you'd call truly atrocious stuff. Thankfully 90s guys are still not in that turf. Hope it remains so.

To be honest people should see what trash previous generation stars used to do! They even refused to take care of their looks and would go on acting with young girls. Dev Anand just refused to reinvent himself even at 80!

In contrast, Khans, Akki, Ajay, are better. They are atleast doing different stories, taking care to look young and fit and don't just roam in Raj/Prem/Raja garb all the time.

It looked like abuse seeing old films of guys like Vinod Khanna with young girls like MD and Sridevi. Or Rajesh Khanna with Tina Munim or teenager Padmini Kolhapure.

Khans still keep it better. They avoid conventional romance, or even in romantic film they make it clear there is an age gap (as in CE) between hero and heroine. So they deserve credit for trying different content, as does audience as well for accepting different types of content now.

Yesteryear actors even spoke in same old style. That's how averse to reinvention they were. 90s brigade is thankfully not like that. And audience is also evolved enough to appreciate different from routine content. Acceptance of BB, CDI, TZP, OMG, PK etc is a great accomplishment.

As long as age appropriate work is being done and audience is lapping up seniors, there's nothing to be concerned or alarmed about.

For romances they have already made way for new guys which is why youngsters are doing BBB, RL, YJHD, EV, HSKD etc and doing well.

Apart from that I see no reason for seniors to especially make way for young stars or take retirement for sake of young stars! Field is open. Youth are welcome to make a mark. Even regional films are making a mark so what's the special pain of Bollywood young brigade?

Dhoom 3 - In the flashback to 1990, Aamir's character is a little boy. But in real life, Aamir was 25 years old in 1990!

Despite their variety of films, they still have been paired with Deepika, Katrina, Anushka and Sonakshi.

But I agree with mature age-appropriate roles with deeper content. That's the way to re-invent yourself. And I'd love to see pairings with actresses they started their careers with!

You do have a point, in that I think its mostly the Khans VERY recent movies that have been more age-appropriate

I was thinking JTHJ is old, but 2012 isn't so far behind.

And then yes.. Salman DID announce an upcoming Dabang with Sonakshi still in it 😆

I think what we can best do is hope to see that decreasing. I think the Khans would have a grand field day if they stopped doing that altogether... rozi roti kahaan si milegi lol

Bajrangi Bhaijaan being a success is a GREAT way to pave a better form of cinema for these lot... and I'm hoping Raees will have similar success, given it's a good movie.

Those films showed different time periods. SRK was also older in JTHJ, he wasn't playing a young guy throughout.

Why should they play oldies or act opposite yesteryear actresses now if they are still being accepted in main lead roles?

SRK is working with Kajol now. So that's sufficient. He was with Juhi in Bhootnath.

They can do remakes of Baghban with likes of MD, Juhi, Lolo etc when they get older. 😉

Why do you want them to relegate when they are still doing great? Co stars also need to be bankable. Kajol is still bankable when paired with SRK. Which other 90s actress still gets such acceptance?

Khans are in a business. They are not doing charity. They'll do what works. And why should they give up if they are still going strong?
