Following widespread criticism, Chopra issued a statement, which actor Richa Chadha subsequently criticized, taking issue with his response to the allegations.

An email allegedly showing communication between Deepak Chopra and Jeffrey Epstein surfaced online, featuring a comment from Chopra that read, “God is a construct. Cute girls are real.” In response to the backlash, Chopra shared a statement on X (formerly Twitter), saying, I am deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case, and I unequivocally condemn abuse and exploitation in all forms. I want to be clear: I was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct. Any contact I had was limited and unrelated to abusive activity.

Chopra further expressed regret for his past actions, stating, Some past email exchanges have surfaced that reflect poor judgment in tone. I regret that and understand how they read today, given what was publicly known at the time. My focus remains on supporting accountability, prevention, and efforts that protect and support survivors.

Richa slams Deepak

However, Richa Chadha wasn't convinced, re-sharing his post and commenting, “If life makes you a Deepak, be a Mohammad, not Chopra. (vomit emojis).” She also shared a post from another user alleging that Chopra had asked her to meet him when she was just 16.
