Ekta Kapoor's clout in the TV industry is seemingly absolute. Aamir Ali ditches the Gold Awards, reportedly because girlfriend Sanjeeda Sheikh is a Balaji Telefilms loyalist, which is boycotting the function.

Ekta Kapoor's clout in the TV industry is seemingly absolute. Now we hear that actor Aamir Ali has opted out of performing from Gold Awards at the last minute leaving the organisers in a lurch. Apparently Aamir opted out of the show all because his girlfriend Sanjeeda Sheikh. Sheikh is one of the key actors of the Balaji serials. She played the lead role of Nimmo in Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka and currently she is doing a parallel role in Kayamath. Rakesh Bapat will fill in for Aamir now.

It may be recalled that Ekta Kapoor had given blanket instructions to all actors associated with her serials, not to participate in the rival the Gold Awards activities.

According to our source, "Aamir was roped in for a very important dance sequence and he was one of the key attractions of the show considering that the actors of Balaji Telefilms had to boycott the show. However, Aamir Ali opted out at the last minute citing date problems as the reason and his inability of perform at the Gold Award in Mauritius. Pooja Ghai was very annoyed with Aamir at this turn of events and kept persuading him to keep his commitment to the show."

When contacted, Pooja Ghai says, "Yes Aamir was supposed to do one of the key acts. He did leave the show at the last minute and he said that there was some miscommunication. He left on the day we were to begin rehearsals and we did have some hassles that day. However, Rakesh Bapat has very kindly stepped in to do the act."

Refusing to believe that Aamir left the show because of his 'indirect' connection with Balaji Telefilms, Ghai finally says, "I don't think that he left due to Balaji, at least he told me that he was leaving because he got busy with Nach Baliye 3."

Aamir Ali clarifies, "I wanted to do the show but because it was postponed, from the first week of this month to the last week, I could not adjust my dates. I tried my best to adjust the dates but realised that it was not possible. I am feeling very bad as Pooja is a colleague and she was relying on me. I wish her all the best."
