emotions are very important for me, specially on IF

like sometimes when i dont get the joke, i figure it out by the follow on smiley of " 😆 " (is ko dekh kar pata chalta hai ,,,,,,arey yeh tho joke tha 😆 )

and sometimes only the wink " 😉 "can tell me if the statement was sarcastic, how much ever i stare the monitor ....some lines just would'nt get in.... 😃 😆

and that one 🤣 wow gives a kick to read the post.....

and when i am lazy to type or too intellectual to answer 😉 i love these emotions " 😕 🤔 "

just click on them and hit post reply u have one increased post... with no effort 😉 😃 😆

I think the writing world would have been lifeless without emotions

👏 thats for u all my friends......(😛 😊 😉 😭 😃 😆 😳 😕 )

one point surprisingly not mentioned by anyone so far. (apologies and pls point out if otherwise)

when adequate knowledge of a certain language is lacking therby putting constraints on its proper usage due to poor vocabulary and / or excrutiatingly imperfect grammar, emoticons (VL)/ facial expressions (RL) can actually be used to get the meaning across. that way, there is lesser chance of confusing other people. This is applicable in both RL and VL.

There is a reason why sign language was developed for those physically challenged in terms of their hearing &/or speech . Depicting by signs is a great way of communicating. That way, one can comfortable express their ORIGINAL thoughts instead of having to rely on someone else.

Personally, I like using words more. I do like using the cute emoticons but I don't use them to substitute words. Emoticons leave a lot to imagination and sometimes, give out a wrong message. But as Syrene said, it used judiciously, they are just fine.

except few . .. which are a bit confusing , these covey your thoughts very conveniently , or I would say that they can sometimes add the *Tone* and *expression* of real life conversation in your words , which is some times lacking in pure written text. after all not every one is a born writer 😊

or could be bothered to express in words only. I agree dewey. Not everyone is a born artist either but in digital/electronic age emoticons make it so easy to convey thoughts in addition to using words. 😛 As they say , from childhood we learn more from expressions then words.

Nice points.. agreed and well said on bold 😊 . Even some words or phrases IMO are used to express somethings that is hard to put in well defined easy words..like swearing on someone... does that sound 😕ing? 😆
