Interesting episode.
One thing was clear in today's episode that Akbar is not insensitive to Salim and Anarkali's love. He understands it but unfortunately life and duty get in the way. That is the way with most things in life. Many times there is a battle between our mind and heart and one has to make a sacrifice. Youth (in case of our serial, Salim) has a sense of invincibility to it, the "can do anything and nothing can happen" attitude which is tempered only by experience and the hard knocks of life (Akbar). Anarkali to an extent understands the cold facts of life but how much can she resist in the face of Salim's persistence?
Things I liked today:
Akbar-Salim: Liked the camaraderie between the father and son. Akbar telling Salim "Takht se joodein logon ko chaahat ke khilaaf jaake bhi faisle lene hote hai. Awaam, ruthbe aur Shaan ke liye"
And that is the crux of the matter in this whole thing. It was true 500 years ago and it is true even today whether we want to accept that fact or not. It is true for kings and princes and it is true even for ordinary people to a certain extent otherwise young lovers especially in a country like India wouldn't have to elope even in this day and age.
The Jashn scene: The hurt and humiliation on Salim's face when he sees his beloved made to dance in front of everyone, the smile pasted on Anarkali's face as she danced was very poignant. I don't think anyone bought Akbar's explanation about Salim's love for his awaam as he was helping Anar but everyone pretended that wasthe way what it was. Maanbai overcame her initial shock at seeing Salim taking Anar in his arms and rushed to Anar's side to see how she was. So innocent and pure. Poor thing she does not suspect a thing.
The Sanar scene- not because I am a fan of their romance, which I most certainly am not but because of Salim telling Anar that he wanted to make her the MEH. This again highlights the shallowness and immaturity of Salim's understanding.
The JoJa scene: Akbar's dialogue "Woh unke chaahat ke anjaam ko nahi dekh pa rahe hai" was very meaningful. This again brings to light the fact that people in their impulsiveness and emotions sometimes do not take the possible consequences of their actions into consideration.
Of course the Akbar and Ruks scene: Just for the fact that RT's expressions were right on target and Ruks had something other than her usual smirk on her face. Akbar told Ruks to back off in no uncertain terms.š
For me today was all about emotions vs. a practical outlook.
