Hello you people! Missed me? đ... anyhow, i was browsing through my files and i found this story which i thought would perfectly suit the rajveer-naina situation right now in the plotline. So, this one-shot is to all of you who saw the beautifully-shot heartwrenching last moments of Naina-Rajveer...
P-A-I-N
She loves him.
He hates her.
She wants him.
He needs her.
"That," he concluded, "is all I want to do."
Every one stared at him, the whole room full of more than a hundred people did. And the same thought was running through every mind; that's it? He was Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, torturer extraordinaire, and somehow it couldn't be fathomed what exactly he wanted most in his life. But for him, it made sense. That's all he wanted, he needed it.
It was later when he was back that he saw her. And she didn't fail to take his breath away. He hated her; he hated her with such a passion that it couldn't be described with words, it was as if surges of hate came forcing through when he saw her, yet he was scared. He was incredibly scared to be vulnerable in front of her, it was his worst nightmare.
"I heard your meeting was a success?" she sneered.
He shrugged, "It's true. And I pride myself on speaking the truth."
She smirked at him, "Of course you do." And then her eyes softened, and her lips almost formed a pout, but just almost. "You're obsessed with me, Raj, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop you. I've seen you look at me like there's no tomorrow. Raj, know this. Obsession will not get you nowhere. You're a lonely, misunderstood and depressed man. You need someone to love you. You need someone to be there for you. And if I know what you're thinking, you want it to be me. And guess what? I won't be there for you; just like the way you were never there for me."
He looked at her with narrowed eyes and almost smiled as he thought how much courage it must've taken her to say all this, "Do you love me Naina?", he asked, almost expecting her to turn ashen.
She knew the answer, of course she did. It was yes. But somehow, she didn't know what it was, but something made her hear herself say, "No. No I don't love you."
She almost could see him breaking down, but then the sneer was back on his face again, and he didn't speak as he started advancing towards her. This time, he was really close. So close that their noses almost touched, and he brought his finger close enough to outline her face without touching it. When he spoke, it was almost a whisper, "Do you know what I really did want? I want someone to die with me. And I, for one, don't mean Oh-My-God, what if he doesn't take me to the prom kind of dying, I mean really dying. That's all my dreams are about. I don't want to die alone."
And then he released her so fast that she was shocked by the impact. She slid down to the ground and closed her eyes, and cried.
"Why don't you love me, Naina?"
She was woken up, quite rudely in fact, by the sound of his voice. He was sitting on a chair in front of her, and she realized she must've fallen asleep by the wall.
"How can I love someone like you, Raj? You destroyed my life, you sabotaged my every single little wish, and yet after that you expect me to love you?"
He smiled again, that infuriating smile of his, "But you do. You, Naina Singh Ahluvalia, love me so much that every time I'm in a five foot radius near you, the butterflies in your stomach start fluttering. And I know more than that. I know that you hate the fact that you love me. You hate me, Ashi, yet you love me more than anyone else in the world."
"I don't." Her voice had hardened now, "I don't love you."
Suddenly, his voice changed. It was almost as if he was making amicable friendly conversation with a long lost friend, "Say Naina, why don't we play a game of chess?"
And she would never know what made her agree to that deadly game of chess, but all she knew was that she nodded her head and the next moment, she was making her first move with a pawn.
"You know, let me tell you a little story now," he said, as he made his first move and waited for her to think. "A few years ago, I became something which I had never thought I could become. And till date, I haven't found a title worthy enough of me. Remember you asked me once, what I did? I give pain to people, Naina. I like causing people pain. I like to initiate death, and I like to be the cause why the blood trickles down one's forehead and reaches their lips. Blood tastes salty too, just like tears. One time, I tried mixing them together, end result I got a very salty mixture. And then I realized that that mixture held my life in it. My life is, as well, a mixture of blood and tears, and it was only my obsession that kept me going. My obsession was you. Everything about you, the way you would tear out your hair when you're angry, the way you would be depressed when you merely got a bad report, and the way you loved that guy and he didn't even look twice at you. I know more about you than you think. I know that you like black, I know you secretly sit under that banyan tree and cry every morning, and most of all I know that you secretly hope you could end your pain by giving it to someone else. We are similar, so similarâŚ"
He trailed off, not saying anything else. He realized that she was very close to his king, almost close to Checkmating him.. almost..
"Hey Naina, do you love me?" This time she nodded, nodded hard and forcefully and there was no more need for words anymore. He had gotten exactly what he had wanted, and she could see the shining victory in his eyes.
"I knew you did", he smiled and now, "Checkmate." She beat him to the checkmate, but he kept on smiling. "Finally, it looks like I got my dream."
She stared at him, "Your dream was for me to love you?"
He nodded and continued, "You look very.. beautiful.. you know." He took out a capsule from his pocket and twirled it around in his hands, "You know, this is powerful stuff. As soon as it enters my digestive system, it will put me in a non-responsive coma. And I won't even feel anything when I die. The unfortunate thing is, I will never get to see how my own blood feels when it mixes with tears." He continued, putting the capsule in his mouth but not swallowing it yet, as her eyes started misting and she stared at him yet again, "Don't you want to kiss me goodbye, Naina?"
She didn't understand his odd request, but looked at him as he kept on smiling, even though his odd sneer from earlier had slid a bit back on his face. She leaned forward to catch his lips, and she only understood his request when she felt the odd numbing of her body. By then, it was too late.
It seemed that Rajveer Singh Shekhawat got his wish. He didn't die alone.
âŚ. The checkmated chess boards still lay there, desperately waiting for a messiah to put them back in their placeâŚ.
