| Remember Ali G, the real-life stripper who did a brief role in Deepak Tijori's Oops?
The dancer had been finalised as one of the choreographers for Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 but was unceremoniously dumped when some female contestants refused to rub shoulders with him after learning about his past.
Now, Ali is furious. He refused Nach Baliye 3 as he had committed to Jhalak 2.
Little did he know that he'd be left with neither show!
Let down
Ali is disappointed with the way producers Synergy handled the issue. "They never told me that I was out of the show. On Saturday, I got a call giving me the news," says Ali, adding that the producers cooked up a story saying his celebrity partner had backed out, refusing to divulge who the supposed celeb was.
"Some girls on the show expressed reservations about dancing with me because I've been a stripper. This is ridiculous. That's my past. It's over," says a frustrated Ali.
He adds, "Today I only do TV serials (Sarrkar, Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr), films (Oops!, Fida, Tango Charlie), music videos, dance shows and club events."
Double-faced
Ali has no qualms admitting that he has stripped at shows for fun and a quick buck. What puts him off is the hypocrisy in society and tinseltown. "Everybody wants to have fun, but in public they behave like virgins," he says.
Dreams gone sour
Ali says he preferred Jhalak 2 to Nach Baliye 3 since he was excited about being in front of the camera. To accommodate Jhalak 2, he refused an offer from his Oops co-stars Vikaas Sethi and Kiran Janjani, to be their choreographer for Nach Baliye 3.
Ali had been looking forward to the show and was even training with Katya (a professional salsa dancer). Now, he can't go to go back to Nach Baliye 3 as both Vikaas and Kiran have settled down with other choreographers. http://www.mid-day.com/hitlist/2007/september/163319.htm
