Chapter 20

Randhir looked at me with shock - and he remained frozen on the spot for a few moments, as if he was thinking over what I just said.

"Really?" he asked me calmly, and then looked at me.

My eyes filled with tears as I nodded.

"Yes Randhir, I'm pregnant," I whispered.

He stood up from the chair he had been sitting on, and then held my shoulders - I was still sitting on his office desk. He brought his hands up to cup my face and I shivered at his touch... it had been so long since he had touched me this lovingly. I had been craving this.

Then he brought my face towards his chest and I closed my eyes as he hugged me.

I felt tears fall from my eyes as he held me like that, stroking the back of my head. I felt guilty. Not guilty because I told him I was pregnant - I felt guilty because I told him I was pregnant for my own advantage.

"Wh - what's going to happen now?" I asked him, scared to be too hopeful.

"Move back in with me," he responded softly.

"What?" I asked, trying to make sure I heard it right.

"You're pregnant... I can't leave you alone," he said. "If I did that, I wouldn't be able to live with the guilt."

"B - but Randhir, you aren't in love with me," I whispered.

"Sanyukta, how else do you want me to react to this?" he said, letting go of me. "I just found out my wife's pregnant, whether I love her or not, for the sake of humanity, I can't tell her to leave."

I stood up from the desk and then hugged him again, myself. So this was for humanity - no problem, it was giving me what I wanted.

"So you don't love me?" I asked him.

"Sanyukta, I can't give you false hopes," he said. "I don't want to make you upset either now... you're pregnant. I don't know what to do."

"Just tell me the truth," I whispered. "Please Randhir... tell me the truth. Is there someone else in your life?"

"You want the truth?" he responded. "Are you sure you'll be able to handle it? I don't think you can."

I let go of him and held on to his biceps, as I looked into his wet eyes with my teary ones.

"Yes," I told him, "If I could get through this last month and a half, I think I can get through anything."

"Very well then..." Randhir said, and took a deep breath. "I don't have anyone else in my life."

I felt my lips curve upwards as soon as he said that.

"Then what's the problem?" I asked him. "Do you feel guilty for something? Ragini told me you feel very guilty and that's why you pushed me away."

"Sanyukta I asked for a divorce because I knew you would never leave me if I didn't," he said to me. "And... and you deserve so much better."

I watched him as he continued to explain himself.

"A few days after your miscarriage, I was feeling depressed... I drank quite a bit and... and... I slept with someone," he confessed, "I didn't tell you this because I didn't think you would be able to handle it."

Nice update.

I donot understand the logic of RD's action.

if he told the truth to her that time she will surely heartbroken, but with time she would have understand his situation (generally humans forgive those who admit their mistakes honestly).

by not telling her the truth and keeping distance with her and neglecting her - here also - she suffered so much for the last one year (thinking so many things whether it is her miscarriage or her no chance of becoming a mother or he had found someone or having any affair), either way she suffered a lot.

eagerly waiting for the update.

Fantastic Updates

It does seem like Randhir is ignoring Sanyukta , even though he claims that he is busy at work but communicating with his wife once he comes home should not be a task .
but now he did tell her he'll take her out at the evening
surely at the moment he is trying to hide something as already taking the cell into the shower just means he is playing safe
