Shaad had caught Jannat in his arms, as she came hurtling out of the building as though it was on fire.

"Shaad!! Please !! Take me back to the hotel please !!" she pleaded, and proceeded to cry all over him as they sat in their rented car. He gathered between hiccups that Aahil had said something to her, and she now wanted nothing to do with him, at all. She wanted them to pack and leave for Pakistan as soon as possible.

Her tears enraged him. He gave her a bottle of water and excused himself to go tell his team mate M.J. that he was going back to his hotel with Jannat. But on the way he spotted Aahil, seated alone in the garden , head in his hands. And he couldn't resist the temptation.

"What the hell did you say to Jannat !? Do you even know how upset she is!!?' he shot without preamble, causing Aahil to look up in surprise.

"What is wrong with you man? At first you were most honourable, but the more we get to know you, you are turning out to be nosy and pushy and outright insulting! How dare you speak and upset my Jannat this way? Who are you to do that?"

"I can ask you the very same question, Major Shaad. Who the HECK are YOU, to come here and talk to me this way. You of all people..."

Shaad reeled with the lack of respect and regard in Aahil's steely voice, as though all pretense fell apart.

"What are you talking about Aahil? Speak clearly, I don't do telepathy." Shaad replied abruptly.

"Sure , you don't do telepathy. But you do lie tremendously..." Aahil countered with a narrowed glare.

"I take great offense to that ! Explain yourself for this insult..! What the hell has gotten into you huh!?"

"You, Major Shaad, are a fraud. You kid yourself that you are the protector of the innocent and that you uphold Law & Order. But if you fancy the innocent? All Laws fly away..."

"Jannat is right, you are mad and delusional. I can't believe we were so wrong about you. Whatever..."

"You have lied to an innocent, you told her a lie that she believes as the most important thing in her life, and you have selfishly kept her for yourself."

"What are you talking about?!"

"Jannat..."

Shaad paled. His eyes darted around anxiously, as Aahil walked up closer to him.

"You lied to her. She is not Jannat. And she most definitely is NOT your wife..."

"What the hell!? Who are you to..."

"Her husband..."

Shaad took a step back in shock. Disbelief marred his pale face.

"What?! You are Jannat's husband??! What nonsense.!!"

"She is not Jannat..! She is Sanam.. Sanam Ahmed Khan. My wife. She was kidnapped and was smuggled across the Pakistan border, and I couldn't find her. Because someone didn't bother to file a missing person's report for an innocent's life he rescued..."

"This is ridiculous...! Jannat is not your wife...! She remembers nothing ! You can't just assume things! How dare you!"

"So, you admit that the name is made up!? Listen up man, I have proof, her ID, our nikahnama, wedding photos, the works. So, YOUR game is up... I'm claiming her back. If you don't have the guts to face the repercussions of your lies, then GET the hell out of town..!!

But Make no mistake... Sanam is mine. And I'm not going to let you walk away with her...!"

"Damn it, she LOVES ME !! She can't do without me !! Whatever she was in the past, its gone ! She will not survive a day without me now!! "

With that acrimonious announcement Aahil threw the first punch, a sharp right hook in the solar plexus that stunned Shaad. But he recovered fast and hit right back. The two men were raining blows on each other viciously, their faces bloodied and adrenaline pumping.

It was this ugly sight that Jannat walked into. She was horrified to see Aahil pummelling Shaad in a rage, and jumped in to save Shaad.

"STOP IT!! STOP IT !! " She screamed in between them as the men continued to hit each other, ignoring her.

She put herself in front of Aahil and he aborted his assault. Her face livid with fury, eyes flashing with rage. "WHAT IN THE WORLD HAS GOTTEN INTO THE TWO OF YOU!! STOP THIS RIDICULOUSNESS BEFORE I CALL THE POLICE ON YOU BOTH!!"

Aahil pulled back and glared at Shaad through his bruised brow, and bloodied lip. The other man was even worse off, Aahil thought victoriously.

But Jannat turned on him.

"What the hell is wrong with you Aahil! Did you go tell him your delusional idea too? That I am Sanam? The wife you lost at the Pakistan border ?? Is that what led to this ridiculous fight?!!"

"Shaad is a liar. He is keeping the truth from you... Sanam, listen!"

"STOP IT !! My name is Jannat !!! Stop this lunacy! I'm sorry about your wife, I truly am. But you can't just pick up someone else and make her your wife !! That is delusional!! Shaad is the most trustworthy and honest man I know! He wouldn't lie to an innocent person like you claim! I know him better than you do!! AND I LOVE HIM!! SO , YOU BACK OFF !! I feel bad for the real Sanam, wherever she is!! Because from what you told me, she had a horrible life filled with hardship, struggles and heartbreak !! Maybe you weren't meant to find her !! "

Confronted by the rage in Jannat's eyes, Aahil staggered back. The pain in his eyes clawed at Jannat, It was harsh, and it looked like Aahil's whole world was falling apart right in front of her eyes.

She turned abruptly and helped Shaad up. He limped with his arm around her shoulders and they turned to leave.

From behind, a low voice bade them farewell.

"Goodbye Jannat. Maybe you are right. Maybe my Sanam is better off where she is. As long as she is happy, I wish her well..."

Something in his voice bothered Jannat. She regretted her harsh words and turned to apologize, but he was already walking away into the shadows.

She brought Shaad back to the hotel room with the driver's help, and as soon as they were alone, he pulled her into his arms and held her tight, gratefully. But Jannat was too disturbed by this evening's events to calm down. She needed fresh air.

"Thank you Jannat. Your words give me so much strength. I love you too. I should have been more honest and open with you before. I must tell you everything. I see no sense in keeping it from you anymore, especially now that I'm sure that you do love me as much as I do you..."

Feeling a little nauseous with the anxiety, she walked out to the balcony for fresh air. And from behind, a pair of arms closed around her stomach, and Shaad propped his head on her shoulder.

Jannat closed her eyes in disappointment. She quelled the feelings inside, ones that are making her cringe at his touch. Stop it Jannat. He's your husband! You should be letting him touch and hold you, not Aahil!!

She stood woodenly in his embrace. Shaad sighed in discontent. "Sorry it was such a lousy evening. Come on, let's sleep it off. We'll make a decision in the morning.."

Jannat smiled and continued to look out at the night sky. All she could think of was how safe she felt in Aahil's arms.
