She won a million hearts with her performance in the famous television serial, Madhubala. And now, she just broke all of them by embracing matrimony. Yes, we are talking about none other than the famous television actress, Drashti Dhami, who tied the knot with her long-time beau, Neeraj Khemka, on February 21, 2015. The two had a Hindu wedding ceremony, in Mumbai.

And, as this gorgeous lady took the wedding vows, let us unfold each and every detail of her beautiful journey for all of you. Read on.

The pre-wedding celebrations

Going by the Hindu traditions, the couple had various pre-wedding functions in Mumbai. Just like any soon-to-be married couple, Drashti and Neeraj too looked highly elated as well as excited.

Haldi ceremony

The wedding celebrations kick-started with the haldi ceremony, and was attended by their close friends. The actress looked truly spectacular in her red and gold outfit while the groom complemented her perfectly in an elegant combination of maroon and white. The two had a gala time at the ceremony and posed candidly for the pictures.

The grand sangeet

After haldi, it was the time for a grand sangeet ceremony for our Madhubala. The function was attended by several famous television celebrities including Sanaya Irani, Mouni Roy, Nakuul Mehta and Sanjeeda Sheikh. Dressed in a bottle green saree and a laced blouse, Drashti look absolutely sensuous.

As per various reports, the beautiful bride teamed up with her bestie, Sanaya Irani, to give a rocking performance at the do. It is also believed that Nakuul Mehta and his wife Jankee, gave a salsa dance performance at the event.

Following the grand sangeet party, the bride had a private mehendi ceremony.

The wedding day

Finally, it was the big day for this adorable couple, and the stage was all set at the lavish Sun N Sand Hotel, in Mumbai. It was a day wedding for the couple. The actress looked truly stunning as she was dressed in the colour of the year- marsala.

The reception party

The talented and versatile actress has shot the first look of Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani...a unique love story in which Drashti will be seen playing a simpleton girl opposite Siddhant Karnick of Gustakh Dil fame!

Drashti, who can be accredited with flawless acting and bringing subtle nuances to the role she essays has already aroused curiosity with the promo of Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani' and everyone is eagerly waiting to see a bit more.

Our khabroo tells us that, after her whirlwind marriage to longtime beau Neeraj Khemka and a romantic honeymoon in Bali, the gorgeous beauty is back in the grind. The lass will shoot for a few more promos that will go on air shortly and then resume work on the episodes.

The story-line of the upcoming period drama... 'Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani' is interesting. It is set in the backdrop of a bankrupt Royal family of Ameerkot, which is headed by Rajmata and Rana Indravadhan Singh Deo (Siddhant ).Gayatri (Drashti Dhami), a Manglik, hails from a rich family but is considered unlucky... coz of her birth time and apparently has no future. To cope with loss in fortune, Rana marries Gayatri in exchange for money as she is the daughter of the state's biggest money lender - Gopal Seth.

There's another twist... Rana, a grief stricken widower is still in love with his dead wife and Gayatri soon realizes that hers is not a fairy tale wedding. The rest of the story centers on how a girl with no future wins the Ranaji's heart and that of her people to become the states' most loved queen.

After her sparkling chemistry with co-stars Gurmeet Choudhary in Geet Huyi Sabse Parayi' and Vivian DSena in Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon', will Drashti ignite the same fire with Siddhant in Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani'? We sincerely hope so!

DRASHTI'S FIRST LOOK FOR ETRETR

Drashti Dhami is renowned for her amazing performances and crackling chemistry with her co-stars. Drashti and Gurmeet Choudhary rocked the small screen with their sizzling chemistry in 'Geet Huyi Sabse Parayi' few years ago. Drashti was then seen setting the screen ablaze with Vivian DSena in 'Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon'. Finally, after a four month break, Drashti is all set to make a comeback in Zee TV's 'Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani' alongside the suave Siddhant Karnick.

The Teaser

The makers have released two teasers of 'Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani', which will be aired on ZEE TV. The first teaser focused on both the lead characters, Drashti andSiddhant. On the other hand, the second teaser brought to light the simplicity of Drashti on the small screen.

The second promo is a lot more riveting in a distinctive way, as it presents the character of Gayatri (Drashti Dhami), a simpleton who finds happiness in small things. It shows Gayatri running after a kite and entering the ballroom of a palace unintentionally to get hold of a kite. What happens in the ballroom? She is looked down by the elites, but she smiles in return and rushes to the roof to get the kite without feeling embarrassed. On the roof, she confronts Rana Indravadhan Singh Deo (Siddhant Karnick), who hands over the kite to Gayatri and walks away.

The Plot

The story revolves around the Royal Family of Ameerkot, headed by Rajmata (Anita Raj) and Rana Indravadhan Singh Deo. The simpleton Gayatri will be married to Rana in the serial. Rana, on the other hand, doesn't love Gayatri and is still in love with his dead wife.

The drama will capture the ups and downs of the relationship between Rana and Gayatri. Will Gayatri win the heart of Rana? Will Gayatri's love story have a fairy tale like ending? Will this love story conquer the hearts of audience or not? Will this fresh pairing crackle the screens? We will have to wait to get answers to these questions.

The Cast

'Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani' has a wonderful team. Siddhant Karnick and Drashi Dhami will play the lead roles, while Akshay Anand, Anita Raj, Darshan Zariwala, Pawan Mahendru and Surekha Sikri will play significant roles in the serial.

Final Verdict

The teaser of 'Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani' seems promising. The royal historical backdrop of the serial speaks volumes about the serial's ingenuity. On the other hand, the storyline doesn't seem to be novel.

Drashti was last seen in the serial Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon alongside Vivian DSena. She has been away from the small screen for the past four months. During her disappearance from the screen, she married her boyfriend Neeraj Khemka. The audience is very positive about the fresh pairing of Drashti and Siddhant. How will their chemistry translate on the small screens? Only time will tell.

Saurabh Tewari's upcoming TV show 'Badtameez Dil', a musical love story, has newbies Pearl V Puri and Asmita Sood playing the lead characters.

The show that will replace 'Nisha Aur Uske Cousins' from June 29, was earlier conceptualised keeping actors Vivian Dsena and Drashti Dhami in mind.

A source says, "Vivian and Drashti's chemistry in 'Madhubala " Ek Ishq Ek Junoon' was appreciated and thus, they were also considered to play leads in this show. Vivian, who lost weight and was keen to play the part, lost out on the role because he couldn't look like a 17-year-old. The producer decided to go ahead with a new face. Drashti also auditioned, but the production house felt that after Madhubala there would be too many expectations from the two actors, so they settled for a new actress as well."

When we contacted, Vivian said, "The baggage of my earlier character from Madhubala would have been too much to carry for the viewers and I can't look 17. Even if I lose weight, I can't look like a teenager. I was keen to play the role but guess Saurabh has made the right choice."
