Why can't actresses call the shots?

Why can't an actress check script, make suggestions, sit on the edit of the film, discuss marketing or get better remuneration?

If an actress has been around, has given hits, even proven herself without big banners or big male co stars and has received some education in cinema, still she can't give inputs?

It is strange how people hail success of VB, Kangana, DPad etc as woman power but it's called attitude or cited as success gone to head if an actress wants greater role in process of filmmaking and demands more even remuneration!

Media plays double game or what? Sometimes takes up cause of female power and change, sometimes calls it attitude or throwing weight around!

Shouldn't we support female stars too if they want to exert greater influence in films?

Why this disparity?

this is also possible that all this hype is being generated by actress PR only to get some attention.
On the topic yes actresses deserve to call the shots and should be paid same remunaration if not more than her costar depending on the length of the role she is doing. If she is just dancing around trees and has max 30 mt role in a 3 hour movie then she doesnt deserve the same money as her costar who has worked twice or thrice than her

This isn't in Film Industry only, It's in every field... this will change if any female producer comes to invest big on female leads.

Where did all these moral dilemma go during debates to whether to hail Kangana's success or not?

I remember reading about Shabana and Smita Patil being laughed at even for asking questions to filmmakers!

They were educated and trained at FTII. So their knowledge should have been respected at least.

You don't want to take suggestions. Fine. But to laugh at even questions is not done.

As if actress is just a bimbo to utter some lines, dance a bit or look good.

I think I clarified it was about stardom and not craft as such.

Here I was talking about the process of filmmaking and actress' involvement.

Remuneration is an issue if even a character actor is paid more! I am not talking about reigning male superstars in comparison.

point hai boss
also in most cases I find women trying to bring other women down , too much jealousy . See the example of DP and kangs and vidya . People were rejoicing the downfall of vidya as if vidya's downfall is important for the survival of khans 😕

You are sounding as if someone sabotage Vidya's career? She was herself responsible for that downfall, ppl were rejoicing on those silly comparisons which were made by calling her 4th Khan.

You bring weight & limelight to anything if it is pitched against Khans, so why cry after if it backfires?

Female Khan tags are still nonsense.
But the dire straits of female actors is evident if even character actors get paid more than them.

We cannot compare them to Khans but it's not fair to keep them this low either.

And I do not see anything wrong if Kangana types talk of technical aspects. If she is aware then why can't she give inputs?
