Ranbir Kapoor: Insecure After Bombay Velvet, Don't Know What's Happening With Career

"I'M FEELING A SENSE OF FRICTION WHERE I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH MY CAREER," SAID RANBIR KAPOOR
"There's a sense of insecurity that's starting to trend inside of me. I'm feeling a sense of friction where I really don't know what's happening with my career. I know what's happening with my work but I don't know what's going to happen with my career," Ranbir told NDTV.
Ranbir plays small time gangster-nightclub manager Johnny/Balraj in the Anurag Kashyap-directed Bombay Velvet which has scraped together just a little over Rs 20 crores at last count - a massive shortfall compared to the film's official budget of Rs 80 crore (rumoured to actually be over Rs 100 cr). A film of glossy costumes and lavish sets, Bombay Velvet is Ranbir's first starring role since the ill-fatedBesharam of 2013, not counting his supporting role in this year's Roy.
This film may not have managed to sell tickets but Ranbir may not have to worry about his career just yet. His next film is Tamasha, which repeats hisYeh Jawani Hai Deewani co-star Deepika Padukone (currently queening it at the box office with Piku) andRockstar director Imtiaz Ali. In each separately, Ranbir has a binary formula that has resulted in a hit film. Put all three together and it's a combination that might just make the box office combust.
His second film this year - Jagga Jasoos with Katrina Kaif - also has tremendous box office potential. Ranbir and Katrina, who share an apartment in Mumbai together, are a blockbuster off-screen couple and have previously delivered a hit film in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
There's also the biopic of Sanjay Dutt, to be made by PK director Rajkumar Hirani and in which Ranbir has the lead role.
