TS:'Mantus individuality & strong personality attract me a lot 'Dh

We got in touch with Dhurv Bhandari who is seen in Star Plus Tere Sheher Mein as Mantu for a short chit chat.. See what he has to say?

What made you choose Mantu's character?

Obviously the role, The character is more important. When they offered me the character, they described it in a beautiful way and what I loved was Mantu's individuality and strong personality, which was very important for me. That was something very difficult to get in today's television. There are beautiful characters in every show on television, but being more of a women centric medium, it was a bit difficult to break that view of the viewers, As an actor, I was never to comfortable doing any kind of role where I have no part to play but just be the hero . Talking about Mantu, for sure he will support his partner wholeheartedly, but he has his individual struggle and his journey in the show. Mantu's nature attracted me a lot, He is such a giving person. Everything he does in his life, he does it unconditionally.. He will always be there for others and he feels for others. And the other main reason is the production house for sure.

How has the experience of working with DKP been so far?

Working with DKP has been great. They are so supportive. There has been ups and downs. We started shooting quite earlier. In-between, the show telecast date got pushed. So we had to wait a bit. We all have been very patient with each other's support and the team is working really hard. We had outdoor shoots in Paris, Banaras. We were working from morning to night. The best part is that we have a wonderful team to work with. Everyone on the set is very friendly and fun loving because of which our work environment has become much better.

What sort of preparations did you do for the character?

Well, when I was told about the character Mantu, I has to completely shutdown being a Bombay boy. I had to completely become very desi, I did lots of research about Banaras. I learnt the smallest details about the city and the Baranasi lifestyle. My character is a tour guide so I had to learn every bit about the city , I went thorough with my homework before starting to shoot. I learnt the language. We called a tutor from Banaras to come down to Bombay He taught me the language and from him I also got to learn the body language , How boys over their walk, talk and how they behave, which is important for my character . We had workshops with him for 3 months.

How is the working experience with the child actor Arsh Khan playing Chiklu?

I never had a younger brother, as I am the youngest in my family. Because of this, it was a bit difficult for me to understand being an elder brother. I live in a big city like Bombay. In a city like Banaras, siblings bond are different. It's very rare to go out with family. I will go for a movie or for a dinner, but over there it's completely different. In Mantu and Chiklu's life, that's so beautiful. They always manage to share their time with family. Mantu and Chiklu don't have parents. Mantu is not only a parent to Chiklu. He is a father, mother, friend and brother. He a brilliant actor I love him. He is doing a great job.

How was the experience of shooting in Banaras?

It was a beautiful experience. It's a beautiful city. Every house has a story. It's a very colorful city to explore. We shot for 2 week in Banaras. Especially the evening Arthi is so amazing, it is a moment to remember.
