Ranbir-Katrina wedding, a lie that failed

Mumbai: Someone in the vast marketing team of Bombay Velvet thought it would be a wise decision to talk about the marriage of Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif while promoting the film. Unfortunately the ploy backfired, as it left the no-nonsense Katrina fuming.

Says a core member of Bombay Velvet's production team, "Since Ranbir couldn't be linked to his Bombay Velvet leading lady Anushka Sharma (who is seeing cricketer Virat Kohli), some marketing strategist came up with the idea of bringing up a wedding plan of Ranbir and his lady. Since Ranbir was in any case telling all his close friends that he planned to marry Katrina soon, it was decided that the subject could be brought up in a tactful way."

Little did the master strategists know how Katrina would react. "She was furious about her name being dragged into the publicity of Bombay Velvet. Katrina firmly believes in the institution of marriage. She intends to marry in style and pomp with the whole world watching. To have such a glorious moment of her life being mentioned so casually is not her idea of letting the world know of her wedding plans," says a mutual friend of the couple, adding that there are no immediate plans of a marriage.

That's why the denial?

After barely 24 hours of saying "I am in a committed relationship and would marry Katrina by end of next year", Ranbir Kapoor did an about turn and denied having said so, and blamed the media for being mis-quoted.

Worse still, Bombay Velvet has got bad reviews and many in the industry feel Ranbir's statement had bad timing. Film stars are fantasised about by their fans and when a hero openly admits to a committed relationship, his fan base shrinks. Which is why most actors simply refuse to admit to their real-life relationships.

Subhash Jha is something else. I won't believe everything he says but at the same time Ranbir and Katrina have made themselves vulnerable to these types of articles being written, especially Ranbir.

RK seriously has verbal diarrhea even though he can keep it safe when he really tries. I am already cringing thinking about what he will say during his next round of promotions. Katrina for the most part can keep a lid on her thoughts but she needs to teach her man the same thing. For two people in a relationship together for several years, sometimes they appear to be operating in two different worlds.

If they have even the tiniest bit of self awareness, then hopefully they realize that it's time for some introspection.

If I think Ranbir is the guy that I think he is, then unfortunately, Katrina can't teach him anything. He calls the shots in the relationship, it's not really about THEM, it's only about HIM. Doesnt matter how smart Katrina is but IMO, she's passive and has the doormat personality (you need to be one in order to be with Salman for so long and now with Ranbir). She can make Ranbir her world but Ranbir will only have himself in world.

So basically they are trying to say Katty is not interested in using the marriage rumors. Ek disaster hote hi rang dikhana shuru kar diya.

Didn't her spokesperson clarify it before BV's release, immediately after media published Ranbir's quote? So, she already knew BV is going to be a disaster.

Agreed. For me Kat will always come before RK as a person. I really want to her think hard about what she wants and if Ranbir is the type of person who can realistically give her happiness long term and someone she can depend one. I think what you wrote in the other thread applies here as well and have to say that in some ways, I think it's true:

No matter my frustration with Kat's unwillingness to take risks in her career and her appearance right now, I genuinely like her as a person and wish the best for her. Just hope she knows what she is doing with Ranbir and that she doesn't get hurt.

@ EllaElla ~ yep I agree, it's sad to see Katrina like this but mark my words, she won't dump Ranbir until he dumps her. because she has daddy issues. And he won't dump her until he finds another doormat.

The only time I have seen her genuinely at ease is with Hritik Roshan. She really seems to light up when she's around him but oh well, Hrithik isn't really the most reliable dude either so I dunno. I wish her the best too, I get sad when I see women being disrespected in relationships. Chicks before dicks anyday 😆

How much is she getting back in return or is she settling for less because of the broken family and lack of father figure issues she grew up with? I don't think a girl who was lucky enough to have stable childhood and strong male father figure in her life would necessarily make the same decisions. Obviously none of this was in her control and I'm sure some very strong insecurities were born out of that situation. I just hope she isn't settling for less to fill some void.

Millions of Kat fans..still Rankat fanclubs are outnumbered by even Ranushka fans on social media.90 % of kat fans don't care.

Everything is in the numbers..they tell you all.

Among Saif,Abhishek,RK ..RK's wealth is only what he earns-what if his career goes down..the other two are from wealthier families..and their families were so keen on the union.

Katty..RUN!!!
