Why to garland a photo? What is the logic behind it? Garlanding and lighting a diya. Is it that the person became god?

A person remains a person and why cant we treat him or her without garlanding or respecting. Just loving that person.

If white sarees can be discarded, why cant this practice also be discarded?

True. I don't approve of it either.
Don't like the garland around Shiv's picture for one thing. Even in real situations too I try to dissuade my own family members from following this practice.

In my opinion atleast in shows they should avoid keeping garlanded photos. They can keep Shiv's photo without the garland.

Whenever I see garlanded photos in any show the first thing that comes to my mind is the person is alive.Though its the character but still I feel uneasy. Its just like watching the actor acting as a dead body with cotton in nose though he is just acting.
