A: *holding Chotu* I don't see why this is necessary.
P: *examining the gold studs they've chosen for the piercing* I don't want him to get any complexes.
A: How would not having his ears pierced give him a complex?
P: He needs to identify with you, since you're his father. He will be confused if he can't see his mirror in you, his primary male role model.
A: You and your crack psychology.
P: Just be quiet and keep Aadi smiling. And don't flirt with the piercer, I can tell she's a fangirl.
A: She's still across the store, you haven't even met her.
P: I can still tell.
A: I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 15. And Daadi was livid when I did. Why do you want to deprive Aadi of this chance for teenage rebellion?
P: What rebellion? He'll grow up seeing you have them. If anything he'll go out of his way not to wear earrings just to rebel against you.
C: *pulls Papa's dogtags and gurgles happily*

P: If his ears are pierced he can still not wear them. Why are you so against this? Seriously?

A: It's gonna make him cry. I don't like that. What kind of a father would I be if I let anyone hurt him for no reason? Even you. *pulls funny faces at Chotu to make him laugh*
C: *laughs and reaches up to pat Papa's cheek*

P: *shaking her head* Arre! Mujhe aapke yeh dramebaazi ki aadat ab tak jhelna par raha hai. If you didn't want to see him cry you shouldn't have come. And if you were seriously going to stop me you shouldn't have driven us here!

A: Yeah...but I know there's no stopping you. This way at least when he's older I can tell him I was against this til the last moment.

P: Matlab tab tak aapke dramebaazi jhelna padega.

A: Aur nahin toh kya?

P: *rolls eyes*

A: 😃
C: *mirrors Papa's grin and smiles at Mumma*
