Priyanka Chopra: 'National Award for 'Mary Kom' is a win for womanhood'

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who played a plucky pugilist in Omung Kumar's Mary Kom, a film on the life of Olympic medal-winning boxer MC Mary Kom, took to Twitter to gush about the film after it bagged the Best Popular Film at the 62nd National Film Awards presented by President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday.

Taking to Twitter, Priyanka wrote, "It's so gratifying when something u worked so hard on is acknowledged... Thank u to the national awards for MaryKom .. A piece of my heart. Most of all mangtec this is a win for womanhood.. U inspired me to be all that u are and I carry that in my heart always.. Thank u Mary."

Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mary Kom had also starred Darshan Kumaar and the film had earned rave reviews from critics and masses alike.
