Very good decision indeed. I support the ban and it should be a blanket ban, a pan India ban. Specially we need a ban in Communist's strongholds WB and Kerala.

Even Babar, the most orthodox Muslim of the Mughals, prohibited cow slaughter. So too did by Akbar The Great and Jehangir. Hyder Ali of Mysore made cow slaughter an offense punishable by cutting off the hands of offenders. The last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar made cow slaughter a crime punishable by death in order to present a united Hindu-Muslim.

It was all started again by British for their own convenience, to divide the society and they succeed for the same !

https://indianexpress.com/article/india/maharashtra/maharashtra-bans-manja-kite-strings-to-save-birds/

The Maharashtra government has issued a circular banning the sale and use of sharp kite strings called manja' which injure and kill birds as well as people.

The circular under Section 5 of Environment (Protection) Act 1986 was issued after a petition seeking a ban on manja' was filed by a citizen in the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court, according to a People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India release issued here today.

Hopefully next on the list is killing of animal on Bakri id

Unfair!
India claims to b a secular country..Bt maybe evey1 will agree to this tht it's more of a Hindu country..wid such a wide majority..I feel one religion dominating the other is quite obvious...banning of cow meat can easily be connected to b this point..

As such

Dairy products r obtained from buffalo, goats as well..y isn't there slaughter banned?
I can easily highlight the religious connection here

I believe if u claim to b a secular,democratic Republic

Follow it! The fundamental rights can not be neglected..It's not just about religion N it's definitely not about hindu-Muslims..It's about the right to be able to eat, to live freely..
Ps
I m not criticising any religion at all!
I am a Hindu myself N if any1 finds it offending

Feel free to contact me..

In Kenya a cow is said to have given up its vegetarian diet and started eating sheep!
