Friends today's track was utter...******. The word is unprintable.
I am posting the remnant of the OS about the murder investigation at Niyamat house. Just with an intention towards entertainment, this is not intended to poke fun on the characters of CID or the HS show.
So, here goes:
---------
"What exactly you plan to do, Officer?" Alvira was besides herself with curiosity.
"Well, first of all, we'll find out whether this Zeenat is indeed in the US or not.." Pradyuman flexed his fingers, sizing his quarry, "Now if you will let me know the whereabouts..."
"Sure! Sahir..."
Sahir was about to open his mouth when a fresh wave of wailing assaulted his senses. Kurti Aapa had suddenly realized that she had stopped wailing,
"No, she is not there! My poor Zeenat..."
"Enough, Kurti Aapa!" Sahir lost his cool. "One more sound and I will personally gag you!"
The information was quickly passed on the US FBI and then they decided to wait.
It was a strange environment, full of apprehension. And tension. Each of the characters in the sitting area in Niyamat house was having extremely private thoughts at the moment.
Alvira sat on the couch, her ample frame half camouflaged by the rich upholstery. Fingers entwining and dis-entangling, she tried to recollect her last vision of Zeenat in the City General Hospital.
It was unnerving as Zeenat stared at the ceiling with lifeless eyes. The only sign of life was the steady beep of the monitor and the rhythmic rise and fall of the chest.
Anam took a hard backed chair which would keep her alert. She had never liked Zeenat and her last memory of the unfortunate woman was a massive showdown in a Prominent City Mall, over an outfit which had been a single piece creation.
Sahir leaned against a wall, his legs crossed at an awkward angle. He had personally seen Zeenat being loaded in the air-ambulance along with Dr Khurana. So what was Kurti Aapa blabbering about?
Aarzoo stood next to him, occasionally leaned against a nearby pillar. She had no idea who Zeenat was. Infact, she didn't even know that Sahir was married earlier.
Kurti Aapa squatted on the floor, throwing suspicious glances at both of them.
The CID team fanned across, covering most of the exits in case any one of the inhabitants decided to bolt away. ACP Pradyuman was shuffling his feet, waiting for his counterpart in FBI to reply.
"What are we waiting for?" Aarzoo whispered cautiously to Sahir. The reply was a non-committal shrug.
"Yes, here it has come..." The room erupted in action. The ACP was staring at his mobile, which showed a woman with electrodes around her head and being swept underneath a tunnel like device. In other words, she was undergoing a CT scan. It was a real-time video whatsapped by his FBI counterpart.
"Who is this woman?" The ACP rasped out to Sahir, holding out the video for him to see.
"This is Zeenat. She has been in coma for the past 7 years..." Sahir strained to see the details on the small smartphone display.
"Yes, that is Zeenat..." Alvira confirmed. The ACP was about to say something when Kurti Aapa erupted in an impromtu guttural swearing session.
"I don't believe this video! Now-a days, technology can do anything. You can morph anybody's face over anybody's body and there you are: a new photograph! This woman is someone else, with my zeenat's face morphed over it...Haye Allah...My poor Zeenat..."
The CID team rolled its eyes. The woman was definitely a sceptic of the highest order.
"But Kurti Aapa, this video has been sent by the FBI..."
"So what? You could have friends in the FBI also. And where is the proof that it has been shot by the FBI today itself? I tell you. The video was recorded here a few days back. And you can create America anywhere, just have a few fair skinned people in the background. Zeenat was never sent to US. She was here all the time. These two killed her and buried her in the backyard..."
Her finger pointed towards Sahir and Aarzoo.
Everyone was quiet for a while. Sahir looked as if he could explode any moment.
The ACP took control again.
"Ok, let's look at the backyard then. Daya...arrange for a digging session!" ACP commanded and Daya promptly fetched the equipment from their jeep.
And the group trooped out to the backyard. Daya turned to Kurti Aapa midways.
"OK, Kurti Aapa, where is the body buried?"
"How do I know? Ask these two!"
"But you said you saw it all..."
"I never said it!"
"Well, let me get this thing straight. You said Zeenat has been murdered here?"
"Yes, thats what Rubina told me! She must have seen it all!"
There was a stunned silence for a while.
"Now who is this Rubina?"
"Our new maid...Wait, let me call her!" Alvira steadied her spinning head and called out aloud.
The ACP scowled further. He would have been sitting at home and watching a serial instead.
"Yes Ma'm?" Rubina appeared and was startled to see the audience.
The ACP strode forward.
"You are Rubina, right?"
"Sir...Ma'm...whats all this?"
"Nothing to worry, Rubina," Alvira was quick to reassure her, "They are from the CID. Just answer their questions truthfully and it will be done in no time at all!"
Rubina nodded fearfully.
"Ok, Ms Rubina, Kurti Aapa here says that Zeenat has been killed?"
"Yes Sir...I told her so!"
"Ok...who did it? I mean killed her?"
"Of Course I did, Sir!"
There was stunned silence once again. Either the woman was a buffoon or a nincompoop or both.
"You killed Zeenat?" Alvira couldn't believe it.
"Why, of course, Ma'm. You only asked me to..."
"I did?"
The maid appeared confused. What was all this about? And why the heck was CID involved in a domestic affair?
Shreya took her arm in a no-nonsense fashion.
"I think Rubina, we need to talk to you further. Can you come to the bureau?"
"But why? What have I done?"
"You have killed Zeenat..."
"But it was because Ma'm asked me to do so. And that too by cutting the throat. You said Sahir Saab likes it that way, so..."
Now this was news to Sahir. Zeenat was killed in a gruesome fashion because he liked it that way?
"I like it that way? What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"Didn't you like the Kebab's in your lunch box, Saab?" Sahir frowned in recollection. But he couldn't make the association at all.
"Now what is the link between Kebabs in my Lunch box and Zeenat?"
"Well, that was her meat!"
Sahir almost choked on this. He looked around, everyone in the backyard was experiencing varying extents of nausea. Aarzoo looked ready to faint. What sort of a person was he? Eating human meat?
The ACP strode forward. He had heard enough.
"Enough of that. Now out with the truth. Whom did you kill?"
"I told you earlier, Sir. That was Zeenat!"
"Hey wait...But Zeenat is in US!" Sahir interjected. His own voice sounded so alien. First of all, the realization that he had munched on kebabs made of human meat was enough to make him feel extremely sick.
The ACP was shaken to the core. Throughout his career spanning four decades, he had seen gruesome scenes and cases. Nothing was impossible to him. But here...this case took the cake. He turned to the maid with his typical scowling expression.
"Now Rubina, let me get this thing clear once and for all. Sahir here says Zeenat is in the US. You say you killed her here. So it means only one thing. It was someone else. Who was it? Daya, Abhijit..."
"Yes Sir!"
"Quickly check whether any woman has gone missing in recent time from the neighbourhood...Don't forget to include even temporary absences! Spare no one!"
"Saab..." Rubina caught his arm.
"Yes?
"You said a woman?"
"Yes, we are investigating the murder of a woman. You said you killed her!"
"No Saab, I didn't kill anyone. I killed a goat!"
There was pindrop silence after that. Anam opened her mouth to say something and then closed it for the better of it. Alvira sank into the comfort of the nearest chair, unable to defy gravity anymore. Sahir looked at Aarzoo who looked skywards thanking the divine revelation just in time.
Shreya froze, per pen poised in the midst of a sentence.
Abhijit looked everywhere other than in Dr Tarika's direction, who was openly ogling at him.
Dr Salunke tried peeping for the rare bone but his vision was obscured by the bulk of Alvira. Daya dug his large hands in his pockets and wished that he would have at least someone to bash up.
ACP's scowl deepened till his eyebrows fused with his cheekbones. He shook his head and caught Rubina's arm.
"You killed a goat? And that goat's name was Zeenat?"
"Yes, Saab. That is a new Lucknowi breed..."
"Lucknowi Breed called Zeenat?" Kurti Aapa finally found her voice. Anything from that blasted place was obviously downmarket for her.
"Yes, Kurti Aapa. It is a famous variety from Lucknow, you see...very tender and luscious...Highly cherished by everyone around!"
Sahir smiled for the first time that day. He cast a loving look at Aarzoo who coloured to the roots of her hair.
"Well, Kurti Aapa. Anyone from Lucknow is to be cherished. OK?
