Chapter-1
"Wow yaar, the food was great" Said Kabir as he walked out of the restaurant with Nisha. It was a Saturday night and they had dined out. Turns out eating burnt food cannot keep away hunger. Both of them were sick of asking the Gangwals for food. Kabir was finding it hard to be the bad guy and Nisha didn't want to make things hard for her mother. They decided dining out was the best option. Besides after a whole week of work they earned it. It had been more than a month since their marriage and Kabir had a tight schedule between the shop and dance practice while Nisha continued working at the Gangwal's shop. Since Kabir was new to the city Nisha had suggested a restaurant she knew.
"I know yaar, I used to visit this place with cousins and Saurav a million years ago when all of us were still in school and none of us were married. We used to sneak out of the house and Saurav used to wait outside. We had so much fun here."Nisha was suddenly feeling nostalgic and Kabir sensed her feelings. "You are missing all that aren't you? Nisha shrugged her shoulders. "Those were the happier days of life yaar, of course I miss them. Then we grew up. Dolly dii got married. Umesh bhaiyya got married. I supposedly got married." A small curve appeard on her lips.
"It's not that the new people in our lives ruined the fun, actually they brought more fun Sumit jiju, Aman...you." She said you hesitantly after a pause. They were walking through a dark alley way but there was enough light for both of them to see each other. Kabir looked at her questioningly. Nisha continued ignoring his gaze." But...almost all of us had a change in priorities. We are not kids anymore, well except jwalu and bunty that is. It's time we faced the real deal. We have our own lives to live. It does not mean no more fun but it certainly means a little less fun and more seriousness towards life. Sometimes...sometimes I feel like going back in time to our younger days and freezing time there. But then I think about all the good things life has given me in all these years and feel grateful. Besides if I did that I would have lost all the important people I have met over the years, people like you." Kabir stopped on his tracks and looked at Nisha. Nisha had only realized what she had uttered after it was out of her mouth. Did she just say that ?
Nisha didn't know what to say. Kabir was looking at her she knew that even though only his silhouette was visible to her.He stepped forward into the light falling from a window. His hazel brown eyes met her black ones and he looked at her with a mixture of emotions. But she was unable to decipher his actual feelings behind the gaze. Did she really think Kabir was important to her? It is not that she hasn't felt the attraction. She was pretty sure that Kabir too is attracted to her. It's quite natural too, after all they were too young people of opposite sex living under the same roof. Sparks were meant to fly. It was bound to happen. But she always dismissed the attraction to be something physical which would go the second Kabir would leave her. She was sure Kabir too thought the same even though they never spoke of it. She trusted Kabir enough to believe that he wouldn't make a pass at her. But now after unconsciously admitting that he was important to her she wondered if it was mere attraction. What if it was something more...no it couldn't possibly be, could it?
Sounds of heavy footsteps and clattering of metal brought them out of their trance. The lone light coming from the window went out suddenly. They were now in complete darkness. Heavy footsteps sounded again in the darkness. Both of them strained their eyes to see through the darkness but there was little light. "Idiot!" Kabir said to himself and tried to take out his phone from his jeans for light but
"AAARHH..."He screamed.
