Part 1
Ananya cribs that she embarrassed herself infront of all. Ronnie, her colleague, asks her if she met 'him' and asked why make put 'him' on the Himalayas. Ananya is sulking. Ronnie says Kabir is a human as well why turn him to some superhuman with a stature as huge as Himalayas. Right then Rohan talks about how he became Editor in chief and shares that he thought Manav will be put on that position. Meantime, we see Manav sitting in the cafeteria and Trisha, one of the reporters, greets him and asks if he is quitting the channel. He asks what. Trisha says just heard such things. He asks her who said such things. She says cant reveal, as he would scold those people and she would end up losing friends. She shares the in her earlier office same thing happened with her. She says, i know you all think i am dumb but i am not. I din make Kabir Editor In chief. Thought you would be.After all you are having affair with Malvika so. Trisha adds that, in my earlier office same thing happened. Girl i was working with, she got promoted as she was having affair with my boss.
Kabir throws his contract on Khalids table and he asks what is this. Kabir says .. there was a clause missing, i have added that. Read it and you will realize that the price of calling me and keeping me here is high and worthy. He gets a tip and tells Khalid to be ready for another big blast at 9pm.
Ananya is talking on phone to her mom and says coming home, done what was needed. Richa and Trisha inform her about a meeting but Ananya still leaves. Kabir informs Ronnie to keep his 9pm line up free as he has a breaking news. Ronnie is confused but agrees. Meanwhile, Kabir is checking the details about all the reporters with Sarita and repeats the names - Ronnie Singh, Rohan Singhania, news anchor. Sarita comments that Rohan must have been a girl in his past birth. Kabir says he loves the camera but not journalism. He asks if Rohan is popular and Sarita says, very popular. Kabir says know Trisha, Ananaya. Sarita says dont worry you will remember everyones names in 3-4 days. Kabir says i need to remember all the names all the time, coz i need you all.
Manav is on phone and tells someone to come over for interview. He tells Ronnie that he is interviewing Shelly Malhotra and to change his line up accordingly. Ronnie informs Manav that he cant change the line up and for any change Manav has to meet Kabir. Manav fumes on Ronnie. Ronnie apologizes and says doing what i am told to. He says not shy to work more. No line up is ready for 9pm as Kabir told some breaking news is expected. He apologizes to Manav but doesnt relent. Manav walks off in anger. Manav tells Rohan that first duty of Newsroom is to take everyone together but Kabir is already hiding things.
All are gathered at the conference room and Richa asks why are we meeting so late and why sandwich and pastry. Malvika says Kabir thinks initial meeting should be informal. Manav is sitting in the seat of Editor in Chief. All are shocked. Kabir enters the Conference room with Sarita in tow. Manav gets up from the seat. Kabir asks whats the matter. Take something. You have tasted my news, now taste my coffee. If its not strong, let me know. Kabir calls out everyone by name .. Richa, Trisha, Ronnie. He praises Rohan too. Manav starts to brag that Malvika is the daughter of the owner of the channel and my.Right then, Khalid enters the conference room and says Malvika is Creative Head as well. Khalid says Kabir is Editor in Chief and you all will work under him. The purpose to bring Kabir is to bring Channel on the top in ratings. Kabir says will try my best but its not possible without the support of the team. Khalid leaves from there.
Kabir tells all that our news is connected to our audience. We need to keep them happy. Every news should be treated as a girlfriend or boyfriend and should be presented attractively. Kabir says.. khabar wahi jisme sach ka aina ho, par aine me dhabbe na ho. On news channel, breaking news sells more than heartbreak. Package it well. All clap. Kabir notices an empty chair and says someone is missing. Sarita says Ananya. Will call her now. Kabir says no need. Tell her to meet me tomorrow.
Ananya takes out a small news item kept hidden in her locket and reads. Her mom comes and calls out to her. Ananya says dad was innocent then who made him culprit. Her mom says media made him a culprit. He could have fought off all allegations but couldnt face the media trial. Ananya asks why put me in this field. Her mom says you insisted. Ananya says know that most of the media is sold off for money but some people still fight for the truth. Her mom says so how was your meeting with your Hero. Special headlines are flashing, 9pm with Kabir Sharma. She calls out to Armaan to join for dinner. Ananya says close to Kabir now and thru him will dig out the truth about dad.
Part 2
Its dinner time. Ananya's mom calls out to her again. Armaan too comes and joins the family at the dinner table. Ananya puts the TV on. Kabirs face flashes on the screen. Armaan teases Ananya saying .. itni shiddat se inse milne ki koshish ki hai ke channel ne inse milane ki sazish ki hai. The 9pm news is on. Kabir shares about raid on a 4star hotel where a Bollywood Actress was caught indulging in prostitution racket. He says that after the ad break, footage of the raid will be shared. There is break and Malvika and Ronnie are panic stricken that there is no footage to air while the break is about to end. Kabir says footage will be there in few seconds. He receives the message and tells Malvika-Ronnie to run the news. Kabir broadcasts the news with footage about the raid and arrest of Nidhi Rane a small time Bollywood actress caught during the raid. He shares that what happens in the society, news is made of it. He says that we want out audience to share their views to strengthen our efforts. He asks a question to public, if Nidhi is a prostitute or compelled by situation, and asks to SMS about it. Khalid is impressed. Manav is taken aback. Khalid asks Manav to bet with him that KKN will be number one news channel in next week's ratings.
Part 3
Armaan says all actresses are like this. Her movie released 4-5 years ago. Ananya fumes on Armaan for making lose statements. She asks him, how can he decide a girls character. Her mom asks Ananya why shout on him, HER Kabir sir has run the news. Ananya says she is confident that Nidhi's statement would be aired too. She calls up Ronnie who informs there is no statement from the girl, Nidhi. Ananya says if this girl was innocent, Kabir would have not put her up for a media trial, after all he did not do so in her fathers case.
Kabir is ending the 9pm news with the statement that today news has reduced the distance between crime and justice and so media and audience have to ensure that the truth is brought out at all cost.
Precap -- Kabir says we are running a news channel here and to run a news channel we need ratings. Kabir tells Ananya that his way of working is different but he is the Editor in Chief and she wont do anything without his permission. Later Ananya is shown telling that, i will get Nidhis statement and when i get that, let me see how Kabir Sir doesnt appreciate it.
