Deepika has successfully made feminism a hateful word throughout the social media. A lot of people are bashing her left and right, does Feminism = men bashing or equality?

Feminism means equality.

Bashing anyone isn't a healthy movement. No matter what group you bash men, immigrants, races, women, LGBT, classes etc - when you bash you lose the plot.

I don't think Deepika nor the makers of My Choice intend to bash men. They simply didm't get their message across properly. A bad result shouldn't negate the good intentions. I do believe the intentions were good.

Feminism is important for the exact reason that you made this post. Because whenever someone even makes a little effort for women's rights, men and (privileged) women feel they have to bash it. Why? Because they don't face those struggles so they don't exist? Because women are making the video so its inherently bringing down someone else?

I tried to watch the video and I couldn't get past her first two points. She said feminism didn't fight for male rape victim awareness or "instances" where women are favoured over men, in which I assume she means stuff like child custody battles.

First of all, feminism's overarching fight is against the patriarchy and I don't know if you realize that its the patriarchy that causes men to be raped and women to be favoured for child-rearing.

How?

Because first of all, rape is a power struggle, and when men get raped, it's because the rapist wants to uphold his position of a big strong man over the little "pussy" or "c**t" (look how even the insults are female in nature, because those rapists equate female with weak).

Even with the child custody thing, it's the patriarchy at play because we've been unfairly conditioned over centuries that children are a women's role and men only work. So when the courts rule in favour of women, its because of that age old attitude (created by men), and not evil women who hate men.

Stop basing Deepika's video because of who made it and one measly like (that's been mis-represented imo) and try to understand where the hell she and the others are coming from.

Yes Deepika always wants to be in the news, she's the female version of Amir Khan. It's a great strategy though, very typical of ambitious people. Bollywood is a rat race and with no sugar daddy or superstar boyfriend, it's hard to survive so she's playing smart and succeeding so well.

Her PR tactics are always so successful, it's funny to see how fans and haters have been talking nonstop about her. That MyChoice video I swear was like so smart of her; she knows that negative publicity is as powerful as positive publicity. No wonder she always oozes confidence and contentment; she's a total ruthless player.
