Or should I say Kabhi Kushi Bahut Ghum? Hmmm, not yet, but very soon..

The episode was a mixture of family fun and heartbreaking reality closing in..

The first scene was full of masti and fun moments, the family was as usual rocking, Ram & Disha cutely dancing like the amateurs they are, the camel rides, Ram claiming he is not a delicate darling like their Mumma & his hip is like elastic (I wanted to ask, 'do you really have a hip' ;))... Lot of happiness floating around.. But when the tragedy lurking so near, how can it be only fun & more fun.. Anu has a fainting spell, and she wanted her hubby near her... Now the question would come up why can't she just wait for her hubby & kids to come back, after-all they had not gone anywhere far, why did she have to venture out to reach them when she is obviously not in position to even standup, let alone walk.. But I think this is where the fear factor comes out... She doesn't know whether it is her last waking moment, she is sacred she won't be in her senses when her family comes back, she wants her hubby to be with her when she breathes last, and this is the thought that propels her to walk on the hot sun. But alas, she couldn't clear the distance, and she falls on the ground causing Ram & kids to rush back to her..

Though they could revive her pretty easily, Ram is disturbed, who will not be in the current circumstances, he calls up their family doctor cum friend who promptly updates that the situation is more grim than they expected and Anu doesn't have much time left.. Ram completely breaks down, his monologue with 'Uparwala' starts, he questions god whether he runs the world with any logic.. It was a heartbreaking scene, and Ram was just perfect.. I was just waiting for a scene like this, I want him to show the seriousness of the situation, all the light talks and teasing were just not enough for me...

Anu comes to him, another of those intense hugs and this time Ram asks her not to leave him alone, she tries to joke, saying 'it was him who left her alone (presumably at the hotel room) and came here'. Anu wants to lighten the mood (of him and her), she asks him to play violin.. Ram tries to get away from her demand, but she insists, finally he has to admit he sold his violin to afford this trip.. At last we see Anu blasting it out, all her frustrations comes pouring out, starting from how they saved many years to buy the violin to him making her feel guilty by all his sacrifices.. A very intense scene, and Gurdeep rocked it, the frustrations and helplessness comes out so very nicely.. I can actually feel for both of them in the scene, Ram is right that nothing (including his violin) is more important than her wishes and Anu is right that how can he sell the violin which is her gift and also how he makes her feel guilty.. You feel torn between these two... This scene also brings out the dire state of their finances.. If Ram is so short on cash, how is he going to fight the mighty Mr, Kapoor for the custody (if the need arises).

Now to the logic of the scene.. Doesn't she know he didn't carry the violin for the trip? How is it possible to miss that? It is very obvious that they are short on cash, the cancer treatments do cost them a quite a penny and stay of 3 days in a palace hotel doesn't come cheap. It is no ordinary vacation, a luxurious place like this would cost anywhere between 50k to a lalk for a family of four and Ram had arranged for the trip in almost a moment's notice. It is clear that he was in desperation and sold the first thing that came to mind. I don't know much about music instruments, but what little I know, violins are not expensive instruments, they cost few thousands, not more.. Why do they had to save years for buying a violin and how selling it afforded the trip? A mystery to me.. Or is it that this is some special violin which costs the earth?

He was obviously a violinist even before he owned a violin, that means he has other means to procure one when he need to play it as part of his profession?

The 'Ghum' part for the day kind of ends here,. Back to some light hearted stuff.. Anu marches off to their room to the waiting kids, kids try to cheer her up with their antics without knowing why her mood is off.. Anu also decides to cut short the vacation which from her pov makes lot of sense,.

Ram on the other hand is on his mission to make his wife's wish of hearing him play violin come true. He politely (and cutely) asks the hotel admin to lend him the antique violin kept at display. Naturally they hotel staff can't let him use as the antique musical instruments belong to the 'Raja' who owns the fort hotel. Ram then changes his tactics to bribe the staff, that was one absolute cute scene, Ram was adorable with his sly expression. But poor guy, the staff was unflinchingly straight & loyal to this employer ;).

The next scene where Ram attempts to steal the violin is purely for comic relief and I felt really not needed. Ram is desperate, I can understand that, he may even subconsciously think that if he missed playing violin for her now, he may never ever get a chance again, but still the scene looks too light hearted and didn't fit the scheme of things.

In the precap, Ram tries again to takeout the violin with the help of kids and... The alarm goes off.. But we do know he somehow manages to get hold of the violin, because he does play violin in the same settings in one of the trailers.. ;)

There was one scene of Mr. Kapoor with his other daughter and SIL. We got to know that this daughter's kids are studying in US.. Sooraj is a family servant according to the obnoxious SIL, but it is obvious Mr. Kapoor considers him as part of the family..

Still no talk with the kids,.. Gives me an uneasy feeling that it is going to be too late for talks now..

Hey Smily,
Nice meeting you again.😆 I just replied to your comment in my thread but couldn't resist commenting here. Brilliant as usual! 👏

I really like the title... I am sorry, I missed the part where Ram says about elastic hip. Sony at home, is of utterly poor quality and I can barely hear things. XD

I really liked how you explained WHY Anu wanted to be with her husband... It was nice, she wanted to be with him. But somehow, I don't know, I think I am too practical for such things, I didn't put too much thought into it.

Ram's monologue, Ram Anu talk WAS AMAZING!!!!!! Like the best scene of the day. It clearly brought out the fact that death is looming over them.

Selling the violin is something I didn't like. despite whatever maybe the reason. How can Anu be so ignorant about where Ram got the money from? Another aspect is that, middle class families, have enough money now, to afford such holidays. It may have been a little hard with her treatment, still, not to such an extent... Anyways, just shows his love for her.

I liked the manager scene. Especially, when he asked the bribe part. 😆😆😆

I like some of the comedy in the show. It lightens the mood despite the solemnity of the situation. But not silly comedy. Good ones.

Subtle ones.

As I said, no one can be shown just moping all day long. 😳

I thought he would offer to play in the hotel as part of entertaining the crowd. That would have been romantic and cute.

I have not seen the trailer. Will have to find a link.😊

Oh, Manika has daughters studying abroad? Cool. I don't like the son in law. He is too desperate to prove that he can step into Kapoor's shoes.

Btw, I read Pankaj Dheer's interview, that, he owns a music company.

And, I don't think Anu is going to die so soon! Of course not!

Death can be delayed but not prevented. So, they may be able to delay for a month, two months, or if the patient is lucky, even six months... So, they will show her for a while now. It is not complete tragedy.😆

Anyways, lovely take!

Lots more gham coming I feel..

The family is cute, but it'll be sad when Anu has to go. I am also concerned about the third wish.

Nice post👍🏼.

Proabably he didn't use the word 'elastic'. I think he said 'rubber like'😉

I heard similar sentiments from many married woman..

Yup, it was an awesome scene..

Yup, I too had the question why Anu didn't ask before how he arranged money for the trip, if finances were so tight.. Is it possible that she was preoccupied by her illness? Yes, I agree that definition of middle class changed drastaically in the last couple of decades, perhaps that's why Ram (the actor) mentioned in one interview that the family is lower middle class.. But I like the way he said 'you know I can't lie to you' so cutely, didn't give me a chance to crib why didn't he just say that he left the violin at Mumbai 😉

Posted the link in your thread. Do check.. Yes, families don't mop around all day, but the situation is different if these are final days..

Oh, Manika has daughters studying abroad? Cool. I don't like the son in law. He is too desperate to prove that he can step into Kapoor's shoes.

Yes, she was shown talking to her kid and telling something like 'don't worry, Naanu would not scold for spending money' 😉

Yup, lot more Ghum coming up.. 😭

Most definutely, Anu's last wish would be to let her go peacefully in the home environment.. And most probably FIL use it as a weapon in the custody battle to show that Ram couldn't provide proper medical support to Anu and can't be responsible father to the kids.. Won't be surprised if he could even manage to brainwash the boy, after-all Aarav is at a very impressionable age and the parents are not telling him the bitter truth..

this serial told to be based on mahesh bhatts movie called --daddy..
if cvs adopt that story line then post anus death story going to take leap and children will be with grandparents...

so i believe children will not get to know about mothers illness now and they going held father responsible for mothers death .

ram and children might separate post anus death and his daughter and son might start to hate him ..
---

here is story line of mahesh bhat movie daddy..

This movie begins with an image of star, Alex Ramos.

Pooja has been brought up by her grandparents, and has no recollection of her mom and dad. She is told by her grandpa, Kantaprasad, that her dad had died. Years later, Pooja has now grown up. She starts getting mysterious phone calls from a male who merely says "I love you", and hangs-up. When her grandpa has these phone calls traced, the caller is Anand, Pooja's dad. Kantaprasad has him beaten up, and warns him against contacting Pooja again. When Pooja is being molested by a male in her apartment building, Anand comes to her rescue, and it is then Pooja comes to know that this shabby, alcoholic man is her dad. Slowly as the story progresses, more facts about the reason of his alcoholism come to light, and he is able to overcome them eventually with the help of Pooja's love and her support.

Thanks for giving us info on the movie 'Daddy'.. I think the show is inspired from the movie at later stages, but not going to follow track by track.. I haven't watched the movie.. But heard the storyline from a friend who had watched it.. I could see some similarities as well differences

In the movie, the father (played by Anupam Kher) was not legally wedded to the mother of his daughter, because he was already married (but separated from his legally wedded wife and the evil wife was torturing him by not agreeing to divorce). Hence, he had not had much legal claim on the daughter, moreover when the mother dies unexpectedly in an accident (no prolonged illness), the girl (only one kid) was too smal and could be easily manipulated by the grandfather that she lost both her parents.. Whereas here the couple are legally wedded, no other woman in the picture and also the daughter is a young adult, smart enough to make her own deciosns..

In the movie, Anupam's character was a successful ghazal before this accident and later he started blaming himself for his illegal wife's death because she died after having a fight with him.. That's why he becomes an alcoholic and hits rock bottom. For many years, the daughter is not aware of existence.. How he contacts his daugher, how she helps him to overcome the guilt and make him the man he was before her mother's accident forms the rest of the story.
I think, we would certainly have a custody battle here, but not that kids won't remember him even if the FIL gets custody for the while, the similarity could be that how the daghter helps the father to overcome the grief and guilt... And I don't think there will be any leap..

@bold--

this is going to be crux of this serial..

i dont think cvs will keep rams daughter small--it is very difficult to run serial in that case..

so show might need to take leap and they might show rams daughter as collage going girl of the age between 18 to 22..

how daughter going to help her daddy --might be the basic theme of this serial in future..

I am not sure about the leap because Gurdeep's role is supposed to be for about 15 episodes, that means Anu would pass away in another 2/3 weeks.. That will be too early in the show for a leap, I think.. Anyway, let's wait and watch.. I am eagerly waiting for the daughter - father track, that would really be something unique among TV shows.
