Part 14

As Madhu now was working on this new project since past one month, RK was undergoing different training sessions and orientation programs. He somewhat still couldn't connect himself to the whole thought process that those people around him had. He was a patriot for sure but maybe that level of devotion was something new for him.

Madhu and him had started to mostly ignore each other. She would hardly meet him in the eyes and so was the case with him until that day.
Madhu stood in the General's cabin.
"Agent Malik.. We need to send our delegates to the Delhi branch. They are all set for the new mission.." The general spoke.

"Yes Sir.. I am ready for it.." she said confidentally.

"I know you are.. And I know you are studying about this mission since long now.. but the agency expects Agent RK's services now.." he said seriously.

"But he can't go on this mission Sir.. its dangerous..!" Madhu intervened.

"Yes it is dangerous and that is the reason he is expected.. he can handle situations more swiftly than any of our agents.." The general argued.

"I can understand the reason for this inmense confidence being put in Agent RK and his capabilities but we should not forget that these people are anti nationals. And they are strong and dangerous. RK doesn't know much about them. Granted he has powers which surpass our capabilities but still he should be given time for a background study.." she argued. Somewhere she was scared for him. She knew he wasn't ready for such a mission.

"Hmm.. I will talk to the superiors regarding it.." The general nodded his head thoughtfully. "But then who would report there as of now.."

"I am ready Sir.. I have read about them, I have a plan mapped out.." she said getting back to her stern

The general nodded his head in appreciation. "Be ready then Agent.."

The building of their office had 9 floors. The ground floor covered all area but the subsequent floors had rooms and cabins infront of which was a railed corridoor. The middle of the building was continuous right upto the 9th floor.

Madhu stood on the corridor of 7th floor as she took support from the railing. RK was on the ground floor as he walked with Sikky.

"RK, the commander may make us join the Mission" Sikky said to him casually.

"Mission?! So soon?" He asked astonished.

"Yup.. he says you are ready for it.. and he says all that is already in your reflexes." Sikky said smiling cheekily.

RK rolled his eyes. "But nobody told me a thing yet."

"yeah its the unofficial still.. He has to get the approvals of the superiors.." Sikky said nodding his head.

RK suddenly heard crank from far off. It seemed distant and slight. He looked around but noone seemed to notice the sound or rather it was too faint for any other normal ear to notice it. But he could.

"Did you hear it?" RK asked getting defensive.

"What do we have to hear?" Sikky asked confused.

"The sound.. Of metals.." RK said as he swiftly looked around to search what the sound could be but everything seemed to be normal. It came once again and immediately he turned his face up and noticed the railing of 7th floor getting detached. He looked about to see Madhu taking its support and busy in a phone conversation totally unaware. Another movement on the opening joint and the railing could give way. All his senses got evoked. In a swift motion he thrust himself up in the air. Everyone around were suddenly astonished to see such a sight. Sikky's eyes grew wide as he saw RK ascending in the air straight up. But all that RK could see was Madhu in danger. He hated using his powers not to mention showing them off but now all he could think was to save his Madhu.

He reached her and in a swift motion pushed her inside as he too fell along with her, just in time that the metal rod gave way and started to fall below. Sikky was the one to understand it first and he quickly screamed to make everyone leave the middle area of the floor so the rod doesn't hurt anyone.

As everyone else was dumbstruck either because of the heavy rod just falling off from such a height or because of seeing a man just fly 7 floors, Madhu was stuck between the floor and RK.

"What happened?" She asked stunned...

"You should pay more attention.. what if i wasn't here now?" He almost screamed in anger.

"How am I supposed to know that such a thing could happen..?" She replied back defending herself.

"Yeah so let anything happen and not take any precautions.." he said sarcastically.

"Okay calm down.." she said with a slight smile touching his chest in a gesture to console him. She felt good seeing him worry for her like that.

"What if I wasn't here and you had fell down from here..? How were you so engrossed in a call that you didn't hear or feel the rod descending.?!" He said yet again. His heart was thumping hard and he couldn't help but fear the consequences if he hadn't saved Madhu.

"I know you will always be there to save me.." Madhu said with a slight smile and a strange confidence which made RK loose track and he just stared right in her eyes.

For a few seconds it was all silence for them and they stared into each other's eyes. That's when Sikky came running. "Are you both fine?" He asked as he ran to them not realizing that he was intruding their perfect eye lock.

"Yeah we are good.." RK said nodding still lying on top of her.

"You need to get off of me.." Madhu said in a pressured tone so only RK hears it.

"Huh?" He looked at her.

"Yeah she is right.. I have climbed up 7 floors and you still haven't got up from the floor..." Sikky said shaking his head at his laziness. "Is anyone of you hurt? Should I help?" He asked coming closer.

RK realized what she meant and quickly stood up. Madhu too stood up and starightened herself.

"Ohh.. both of you are fine.." Sikky said relaxed seeing them.

"We should get all the attachments checked i suppose.. This was way too dangerous.." Sikky said shaking his head disappointed.

"Yes you are right.." Madhu said nodding her head thoughtfully.

"And besides you should loose some weight.." RK said to her..

She turned sharply to him astonished. "Yeah.. you are so heavy that the rod couldn't bear your weight and gave way.." RK said biting his lip to prevent laughing.

"It must be loose okay.. I am not heavy.." Madhu said looking at him with narrowed eyes.

"Yeah.. you are not.." RK said shaking his head while still pursing his lips.

"Yes.. Thats right.." Madhu said defending herself thoroughly annoyed at him.

RK nodded his head and walked off laughing while Madhu huffed in anger.

"Never saw her like that.." Sikky said while walking along with RK.

"How?!" RK asked confused.

"Being teased and defending herself on silly jokes..." Sikky said with a slight smile.

RK smiled sadly. He didnt know if his Madhu was locked in her or she wasn't anywhere.

"Actually noone dared to act that friendly with her..." Sikky said clearing his own doubt as he nodded his head thoughtfully.

"Yeah.. maybe.." RK shrugged off.

"Do you think she is friendly with you because you have powers?" Sikky asked him confused.

RK looked at him for a second as his own mind started working on that thought. His heart said it wasnt the case. She behaved that way with her because they both had spent a lot of good and cherishable time together but his brain said that Sikky was right. She treated him differently because he had powers and that was all that interested her to get close to him.
