Yuvraj's mental age according to what's been going on in the last 2--3 months is about 16. The proof?
1. He fell head over heels on seeing a pretty face. That seemed to be the sole thing that attracted him to snaky (if I'm wrong, please correct me) . True many people do believe in love at first sight, but that's usually hormones at work, IMO, and not a mature way to choose a life partner if you know nothing much about her/him.
3. Yuvraj and Sharad seemed to have behaved like boys in their dislike of Su.
2. Snaky's rebuffal and elopement made him eventually suspend all better judgment and marry a girl he didn't like. Sure, there were plot devices such as Pankaj's blackmail, but to do something like that with the sole plan that he would get his own back by mistreating su--whatever--was immature and a boy's reaction, not a man's. Here, I will concede that many never grow up and stay boys forever.
4. A guy shares a room and a bed with a certainly not unattractive girl, but, except on 1 occasion, seems to feel no desire at all. I know this contradicts the hormonal theory, but is he like totally unresponsive? And for each instance of his being nice, friendly, sweet to Su, you find a counter-instance of unbelievable disregard, lack of response, inappropriate reaction. None of us have forgotten his unwarranted attacks on su on BQ's provocation, his indifference sfter su was molested or almost died. In fact, teenager kya, even a 10-yr old these days would do better at understanding that someone traumatized needs comfort and support.
5. HE LOVES GAMES, CARS and HIS DOG to the exclusion of almost everyone but his mother.
6. The usual maa ka laal type momma's boy Hindi movies and serials seem to find 'beautiful'.
7. Cowering cowardice towards the authoritarian in the family.
8. Unable to deal with matters in an adult way. What's he do after the Big Reveal(s)? He disappears. He does not seem to even understand the enormity of the humiliation and pain he was no small part of. He starts some Enid Blyton-style plan that has led him to agree to marry his original (but hopefully no longer) amorata. Real mature.

Please, yuvi lovers, I love yuvraj when he meets his potential. The flaws are the cvs' fault and lack of understanding, but it's yujraj's face we see. IF we ever get our yuvraj, the best we can do now is pretend that n number of things never happened.

Would like your opinions.

I'm thinking: ab kya nahee kiya isne?

...this resp is for the title only...baaki resp later
ADD:
👍🏼 gud points all anitam!
wonder why I never felt those were much of a failing?

my problem is his 2-standards one for himself one for SU..teenagers will go all out and protect their friends if dadi's come and scold their frnds and that too when they work hard and do lotsa stuff close to perfection)...event-mmt, food-mmt, 👏etc. etc. then but seamstress, laundry-lady, valet, weepweeprani now)

This is for Yuvi

I can very well understand what you want to say. And a good post Ani di...
I know being immature is not bad but he should know how to handle things maturely...
But he doesn't do that...

dH, not all teenagers, and also depends on the level of authority they answer to. Take a very strict father, for instance, and a not-so-brave child. The latter will be quiet even if the father is wrong or wrongly abusing a friend, because 1) s/he doesn't want to prolong the lecture, tirade, abuse, and 2) because talking back can escalte the argument and involve other innocent people. To give just 2 reasons. I think if we imagine a past where Pratima has tutored the boys to avoid conflict with BQ, they now do it without thought. And when you are frustrated and repressed, you often take it out on whoever is available. Yuvi's not a bad guy--he's kind. Su never took his blathering too seriously, and she gave it back when she got mad.

Yup! but such is how conditioning works I guess!
not expecting much n-more from ssel persp
ADD: to your q, each comes of age and into his own at diff ages I guess, I think in these matters age is just a number...see, saurav is elder and is only finding his feet now...
guessed least-ages of BH men would would be 28, 26, 24, give or take an year..this is based on the fact that Anuj ka shadi hoke few years hua...n he couldn't hv bn younger than 22 at mrg
Yup they are old enuf, but clearly none have come into their own yet...this SU thing is making them discover their feet...SEE, it's a heavy duty multi-pronged oh-so-clever serial...it has many hidden layers😆😆 sry..topic serious tha, n maine baad joke maara kya?

Anita, OMG, you read my mind. 😆 I was just saying on another post that Yuvraj is childish and he behaves like a teenager, not an adult. Of course, you must have heard me saying this already. 😉😉

I would like to add another point to your brilliant list 👏👏-

9. Dresses like a fresher in college. 😆 Refer to his fresh out of class look, complete with a boy band hairstyle. I don't understand why they dress him like this. It would be better if he looked more like an adult. 😉

As for his personality, I would describe him as a high school bully pre-marriage and an indecisive wimp, post-marriage. IMO, he is stunted, emotionally. I hadn't really thought he could be so indecisive when I first started watching, but the CVs went back on that character sketch. TBH, all this planning and plotting is not in-character for Yuvraj. He is someone who expresses his frustration openly, if something is wrong. However, we had a dialogue trying to justify it, so I guess we'll have to take it.

He is a boy, I agree. It seems like he's stuck in college, and his ideology that 'life is a beauty pageant', needs to be uprooted completely. He is very immature and his strategy when confronted with problems is avoidance- as seen by his umpteen pleas for 'mental peace'. 😆 I think he doesn't like to confront problems which indicates that he's inherited the Birla gene of escapism. 😉 I think it's a consequence of growing up in a household that specialises in guerrilla warfare. Somewhere or the other, he probably picked up Pratima's method of pretending that problems don't exist.

Let's hope this plan of his indicates that he has grown emotionally and I think we need to see him grow up, majorly. Yuvraj's transformation was one of the stories I was eager to watch and I hope the CVs give us that.

Apu, I rather like Yuvi's look, and I know many guys who dress this way well into their thirties, and older. His hair irritates me, but that's because ANYONE's hair falling all over their forehead like a Lhasa Apso-type dog's makes me feel hot and itchy. But no doubt yuvi dresses very young, and we rarely see him in more than his jeans-jacket combo. I'd love to see him dressed smart casual far more often. If clothes maketh the man, we're in trouble.
Agree, definitely emotionally stunted. Also agree that plots and plans and underground sedition are not his thing at all, but I will accept it because it's amply clear he can't confront BQ directly. Then how will he ever. ..? Maybe his hero Su will do it, which will be sad for yuvi's character. But it must be entertaining, not boring or annoying.
I don't see him as a bully (but I've not watched the period you're referring to, and I think dH implied as much in another post) , because he seems to treat everyone more or less the same, barring BQ, while a bully picks his victims. Wimp, dumbo, jerk, what a fine variety of aliases our yuvi has collected!
Good point, that he's probably picked up Pratima's lily-livered ways.
I think we're supposed to see his secret support (sigh! ) of suhani as a step forward, but there better be far more than that to show yuvi's gradual growth.
