Well, that was quiet something. I read through the SS taking in both of their faces, imagining them in my head, and it was so simple.

Chapter Three

"He isn't that bad, you know," I said to her on the other line, causing her to groan.

"Is this about that Manik again?" Navya asked me.

"Well, yes. I met him again today."

"In that same coffee shop?" she enquired.

"... Yes?"

"You need to stop going there!"

"Hey, they serve good coffee!" I defended.

"Really? So you're telling me you actually tried their coffee?"

"Um... well..." I stuttered, a bit embarrassed to have been caught, "not really but... I could tell!"

"Tell how? Did that Manik tell you?"

"Why do you refer to him as that Manik'? It's very rude," I said, somewhat annoyed.

"Woah!" she sounded shocked. "Are you actually standing up for him? Nandini, are you alright?"

I bit my lip, "yeah, I am. Just... he's not too bad. He was actually nice today. Well, I wouldn't say nice but he wasn't... he was less rude."

"Do you... do you like this guy or something?" she cautiously asked.

"NO!" I said almost immediately. "I don't, I really don't. I'm just saying... he's not that bad. It's just... aghh forget it." I plopped backwards on my bed, closing my eyes. This Manik Malhotra was not good for my health. Maybe I was obsessing over him a bit too much.

"Right. If that's the case, then promise me something?" she sounded hopeful.

"Depends, what?"

"Don't go to that coffee shop again, please."

"Navya..."

"I really don't like the sound of this guy!" she admitted. "Just don't, please. For my sake."

"For your sake," I smiled.

Okay, so I was sorry. I shouldn't have made fake promises, that's so not me. I just can't help it though! Aiyappa, forgive me, and please make sure Navya forgives me too.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped through those doors, and was somewhat disappointed to not find him there at our usual table.

Wait... our usual table? Navya was right, this Manik is driving me nuts.

I still walked over, and ordered that same coffee I knew I wouldn't ever finish. I guess I waited for about ten minutes or so, and that was bizarre. All this for a guy I don't even like!

I was almost expecting him to not show up. Why would he? This wasn't any date. But he surprised me, and he came. The minute he walked in through those doors he had his eyes on our usual table', and broke into a smile when he spotted me. I don't know why it made my heart flutter.
