Chapter 38

Asad had been searching for his wife after she had disappeared from the party. Finding Rashid in the study, he had found out about Zoya bringing food for him and also that she had just left. A smile graced his lips hearing Rashid praise Zoya. Always taking care of his family, that was his Zoya, he thought. Looking around everywhere, he finally reached their room. Opening the door, he found her sitting on the bed with her knees against her chest. Her face was buried in her hands. "Zoya," he called out. She looked up from her hands. Seeing her tear dried face, Asad rushed to her and took a seat in front of her on the bed. "Kya hua Zoya? Tum roh rahi hoon?" he asked concerned. She threw herself against his chest and started to sob some more. Asad was getting worried. She was so happy just a little while ago then what happened. "Zoya, please batao mujhe kya hua hai?" he asked as he wrapped his arms around her waist, comforting her. She told him what had happened downstairs just a few moments ago. Asad felt his body tense up and his blood boil. How dare they talk about his Zoya that way? Who gave them the right? He moved back and rushed towards the door. Zoya knew what he was going to do. She wiped her tears and followed him. "Mr. Khan...rukiye...Mr. Khan," she called out but he was walking through the hallway towards the stairs. His anger was rising by each second. He had to talk some sense into those people. As he reached the end of the stairs, he felt her hand tug at his elbow. "Please ruk jayiye," she pleaded. "Unn logo ne tume rolaya, unne kohi haq nahi hai tumare baare mein aisi baatein kare," he stated still looking at the path ahead. "Main nahi chathi keh yeh baat baadi ho, please jaane dijiye. Aaj humari anniversary hai," she said. In the moment of being hurt, she had shared the incident with him. But, she didn't want to create problems in the family. "Mujhe unse baat karni hai Zoya," he said, still mad. She moved closer and wrapped her arms around his abdomen, her head placed on her back. "Please Mr. Khan, mujhe nahi baat karna hai iss baare mein. Woh log nahi jaante keh maine unki baat sunli hai. Aur Ammi and Bhabhi koh bahut bura lagega, please chodo na," she told him. "Mere liye," she added. Feeling her against him, he felt him calm himself a little. He turned around and pulled her into an embrace. "Sirf tumare liye," he told her. "Aap mujhe maana thodi na karsakthe the, aur aaj toh humari anniversary hai," she said, trying to lighten the mood. They broke apart and started to walk back to the room.

"Zoya, tum unn logo ki baaton par dihaan mat dehna. Unn logo koh aur kuch kaam nahi hai. Unne humare baare mein kuch nahi paata, woh humari zindagi aur tumare mere baare mein kuch nahi jaante," Asad said. "Lekin sahi toh bol rahe the woh sabh," she said sadly. He took a seat on the bed and pulled her next to him. "Lagtha hai mujhe neeche jaana padega," he said. As he was about to stand up, she pulled him down. "Aisa kuch nahi karenge aap," Zoya said. He moved closer to her and cupped her face in his hands, "Zoya, Ammi kehti hai keh bacche Allah ki dain hai aur jab waqt sahi hoga toh inshAllah tumare khwaish puri hojayegi," he told her. "Kyun Mr. Khan? Aap bacche nahi chathe?" she said diverting her attention from tears to him now. "Of course I do Zoya, main chatha hoon keh humare bacche ho, humari ek choti family hoon. Lekin uss kehliye hume jaldi thodi na hai. Jab hona hoga tab hojayega," he honestly stated. "Lekin mujhe bacche abhi chahiye," Zoya pouted. Asad chuckled, "bacche mall mein nahi milte hai Zoya. Aur waise bhi hume nau meine intezaar karna padega, remember right?" he teased pulling her cheeks. "Mera mazaak mat udayiye Mr. Khan!" she sulked. Asad moved closer and titled her chin up so that her emerald orbs met his. "Agar tume itni hi jaldi hai toh I say hume aaj se in fact abhi se hi try karna chahiye," he said. Zoya smiled as her cheeks reddened. "I love you Mr. Khan," she said. "I love you too!" he said, leaning in to decrease the minimal gap between them. As their lips touched, Zoya felt a new sense of passion explode inside her. She opened her mouth and let him explore her territory. Their tongues molded with each other as they passionately shared love. They broke apart, gasping for her air. She broke open his sherwani and his exposed six packs aroused her. She started to eagerly taste his body with her soft, luscious lips. Asad moaned in pleasure as his senses were going crazy. He pulled her hair open and removed her earrings as he placed soft kisses on her ears and bit her ear lobe. He undid her sari and threw on the floor where his sherwani already lay. Pulling the duvet over their heads, they kissed again. That night, both felt a new sense of desire and passion within them. A new boundary was broken as they made love several times before falling into a peaceful sleep in each other's arms.

A burning sensation in her throat disturbed her sleep. She opened her eyes to feel herself sweating and her heart racing against her chest. She tried to move when she felt her husband's protective arm around her waist. She quietly moved it and got off the bed. She ran to the closet and grabbed a night gown and quickly went to the bathroom. She was about to put the gown on when she felt vomit gush through her esophagus. She ran to the sink and emitted the stuff clogging up her throat. After she was done, she pulled the silky black night gown over her head. "Mr. Khan theek kehte hai. Mujhe itna khana nahi khana chahiye, that too so much unhealthy stuff," she yelled herself as she placed her hand over her chest. She waited for the symptoms to return but when nothing happened after a few minutes, she walked to the sink and splashed some cold water over her face. Later, she went back to bed and snuggled against her husband who was serenely sleeping. The next morning, Zoya felt much better. She woke up rather early for a Saturday but she couldn't fall back asleep. She took a hot shower to relieve the painful pleasure her husband had put her through last night. She changed into some faded blue jeans and a purple shirt. She walked out of the changing room to see her husband still sleeping. She smiled looking at his innocent sleeping posture cuddled up with the pillows. He was probably searching for her even in his sleep, she thought and giggled. Bored, she decided to have a look at the gifts that everyone had given her last night. She took a seat on the couch and started to open them up one by one. She admired each one and placed it on the seat next to her.

Moments later, "you know right that we are supposed to open that together," she heard her husband say. She looked up to see him sitting on the bed in a white kurta pajama. "Yeh toh aapki galati hai keh aap itni dher shote rahe, lazy goose!" she teased with a chuckle. Asad just smiled at her. He went to the bathroom to freshen up and returned a few minutes later. He squeezed in next to her with the limited space on the cough with her and the gifts. She looked at a gift, "aree yeh Humaira ka hai," she said lovingly. She opened the package to find a photo album inside. She turned the cover and the first picture was of her and Humaira playing on may be Humaira's 2nd birthday. Zoya smiled seeing the pictures, thinking about old memories. Each page and picture bought a new story to mind. Zoya described the background in each story to Asad as he sat next to her listening, as his hands were wrapped around her middle and her head on her shoulder. Half way through the album, she ended up on a picture of hers when she was wearing a swimming costume may be for her 6th birthday. Zoya remembered how much tantrums she had thrown to get that pink skirt and the tank top. "Ya Allah, yeh Humaira ne kaise picture dale hai," she said as she shut the album. "Kyun...mujhe toh acche lagi thi," Asad teased. "Kya? Stop it Mr. Khan!" she said hitting his thigh. "Mujhe dekhna hai," Asad said reaching for the album. Zoya moved it away from his reach. "Zoya...mujhe dehdo," he said. "Nope!" she said as she pushed him away and started to run with the album in her hand. She laughed at Asad trying to chase her as she made a circle around the bed. She then climbed on top of it. Asad stopped, "Zoya, neeche utro. Tum baar baar bed par kyun chadti ho," he scolded. "Aabh toh aap mujhe pakad nahi payenge," Zoya teased as she stood near the headboard and Asad was at the end of the bed. If he moved to one side, she moved to the other teasing him. Finally, he caught hold of her wrist and pulled her down on the bed. The album slipped off her hand and her husband lost balance and fell on top of her. Zoya giggled at what had happened. "Tum bhi na," Asad said as he cleared her hair off her face. She just flashed her big, dimpled smile at him. "Pagal!" he mumbled as he placed a kiss on her forehead. Their moment was interrupted with a ring on Asad's phone. He rolled over and picked up the phone from the night stand. Zoya too got off the bed and picked up the album from the floor. No one saw the envelope that has slipped off the album under the bed. Asad finished the phone call and told her that there was some problem with a project and he had to visit the office to work on some things. "Kya Mr. Khan...Saturday koh bhi aapko office jaana hota hai," she whined as she collected the gift wrappers to discard in the garbage. "Aaj main jaane wala nahi tha lekin aabh problem hai toh solve toh karna padega," he explained. "Theek hai...aap fresh hojayiye. Main aapke kapde nikal dehti hoon," she said with a smile. "Thanks!" he said as he grabbed a towel from the cupboard and headed to the bathroom.

Asad had left right after lunch. Zoya was chatting with the khan ladies in the living room when she started feeling sweaty and tired again. "Ya Allah yeh kya horaha hai mujhe," she thought. Seeing her pale face, "Zoya, tum theek toh ho?" Dilshad asked concerned. "Paata nahi Ammi, thodi si takaan se lagrahi hai," she replied as a yawn escaped her mouth. Dilshad chuckled, "tum jao beta, thodi dher aaram karlo," she said. "Nahi Ammi, woh room mein thoda sa kaam hai. kal se cheeze bikhre pade hai, agar maine saaf nahi kiya toh aap toh jaante hai Mr. Khan koh heart attack hojayega," Zoya exaggerated as everyone chuckled. "Main aati hoon," Zoya excused herself as she went upstairs. Zoya cleaned everything from the day before. She put the clothes to dry clean, the jewelry and make up back in its place, and fixed the bed. "Just the way Mr. Khan likes it!" she thought as she looked at the room with a smile. Zoya picked up her iPad and started scrolling through the pictures from the party last night. A grin embraced her lips as she moved from one picture to the next. Memories...these memories! She thought as she pressed the iPad against her chest. Hours later, Asad returned from the office. Walking into his room, he saw her slouched up on the couch in sleep with that beautiful smile of hers on soft, pink lips. He was surprised to see her asleep. He checked his clock to make sure he wasn't too late. "Har din toh itne baatein karti hai, aaj itni jaldi sohgayi," he thought as he touched her forehead to see if she was sick. Nope, her temperature was normal. He slowly pulled the iPad from her hands and placed it on the glass table. He then scooped her into his arms and walked to the bed. Placing her on it, he tucked her into the comforter and placed a kiss on her forhead. "Good night," he whispered in her sleeping ears. Later, he changed into a white kurta pajama and climbed in bed next to his wife. Wrapping his arms around her, he soon fell into deep slumber.

The morning sun rays were sneaking up into the sky when Zoya woke up gasping for air. She wiggled out her husband's arms and sat up. The last thing she remembered was looking at the pictures. "Ya Allah, main tabhi se sohgayi," she said to herself recalling how many hours she had slept. Zoya turned to see her husband sprawled out on the bed, as he lay on his stomach. She lovingly ruffled his hair as he peacefully slept. She covered him with the blanket and went to get ready for the day. Hour or so later, Zoya came out dressed in a simple maroon anarkali. She lay the prayer mat on the floor and wrapped her dupatta around her head. Asad opened his eyes to see his favorite sight...seeing his wife pray. There was so much devotion that reflected in her face, it made his heart fill with this unique tranquility. She finished and looked at him, "good morning," Zoya said smilingly. She placed her mat back in its place and walked up to him. "Itni jaldi utgayi," he stated. "Bas neend khul gayi, aap bhi utgaye," she pointed out taking a seat on the bed. "tumare bina neend nahi aati," he teased moving closer. "Mr. Khan...kya karahe hai aap? Subhe hogayi hai," she said. He caught her wrist and pulled her down on top of him. His arms went around her waist. "Mr. Khan," she said struggling to get out of his hold. He rolled them over so he was on top of her. His fingers traced her cheek moving a stand of air behind her ear. His hands went underneath her kurta as she shivered. His touch ignited her skin as the heat radiated through her body. His nose nuzzled her cheek as she shivered. Asad's phone rang and he groaned. She giggled, "Mr. Khan! Jayiye nalijiye," she said pushing him back and stood up. Asad pouted, "tum na bahut unromantic horahi ho," he complained as he got off the bed. "Kya karo Mr. Khan...aap keh saath ek saal se rahi ho. Kuch toh asar hoga na," she mocked as he walked to the bathroom with a chuckle.

That night, Zoya sat near the pool staring into the darkness of the living room. The cold water in her legs seem to soothe the aching she felt inside her. Everyone had gone to bed. She was waiting for her husband to return from work. He had some issue come up again today and had to go to the office. Her thoughts drifted to this afternoon. She had taken a home pregnancy test but it was negative. She was upset! Zoya had thought that the nausea and the tiredness could be because she was pregnant. But, that wasn't the case. May be she was just coming down with something, she thought. She sighed! It wasn't that she was disappointed about not being pregnant. Well, she kind of was. Razia's and Haseena's words ran through her mind. Why did they always think bad about her? What did she ever do to them? Why did people get happiness from hurting others? She wondered. It was her past that seen to be looming over her. She wondered what kind of parents Asad and her will be? Asad will be a great father, a little overprotective but a really good one, she thought. After all, he had two great parents like Rashid and Dilshad to look up and learn from. But her? She wasn't that blessed. She didn't remember much about her mother except that dark incident in which she is screaming for her Ammi to save her life. The incident which could have evidently taken her mother's life. The feeling of being jailed inside the fumes in the darkness with nothing but flames surrounding you isn't really what any child wants to hold on as the memory of their dead parent. And she didn't even know her father, let alone look up to him for her future. The people who adopted her, Razia and Gaffur weren't a great option either. Razia didn't even treat her as a human being, forget about having a mother and daughter relationship. Gaffur, on the other hand, was a good father. But, he was always distant from her. For some reason, she never felt this connection with him that she wished a daughter and father had. Destiny had other plans for her. Isn't that why Rashid and Dilshad had been made a part of her life, through Asad? They were the closest thing she has and will probably ever have to her real parents. They were the ones she wanted to be like. She wanted to be as loving, caring, and understanding of a mother as Dilshad was. She wanted to be an authoritative parent but a loving friend when needed as Rashid was. She smiled recalling the moments that she has spent with them. As each day passed by, she was little less hopeful of finding about her father. May be she couldn't find him. May be that was her fate. What kind of a father abandons his child and their mother and leaves them alone. May be he had his reasons? May be something happened and there was a cause to why he didn't return. At least that's what she hoped for. She closed her eyes as tears rolled out.

She felt a hand on her shoulder breaking her thoughts. Zoya wiped her tears, thankful it was dark. She turned and smiled, "Aap aagaye, dher hogayi aaj?" Zoya said turning to her husband. "Ha, bahut kaam tha. Abu koh kuch kaam tha aur Bhaijaan site par chale gaye the toh mujhe rukna paada," he explained. Asad had returned from work and went to his room. But, his wife wasn't there. He freshened up and looked for her in the kitchen, outside in the garden. Surprisingly, he found her here. He took a seat next to her. "Kya hua?" he asked. "Kuch nahi, bas yaha accha lagraha tha toh," she replied. Zoya leaned in and buried her head in his chest. His hands wrapped around her waist. He knew something was bothering her. She didn't need to say anything. Usually, she would be watching her cartoons or reading a book, not sitting here in the dark. The way she was so quiet and her body seemed different. It felt so limp and like she had given up on something. "Zoya, are you sure keh tum theek ho?" he asked again. She sat up and looked at him. Interwining her hand with his, "Bas kuch cheezo keh baare mein sooch rahi thi. Par aap mere saath hai toh I know keh sabh theek hai," she told him. Asad smiled, "Agar tume kuch baat karni hai toh main hoon," he said placing a kiss on her forehead. "I know," she said. "Andar chale?" he asked. "Kuch dher yaha baite," She suggested and he nodded. They sat together, holding each other's hand, in silence. No words needed. Just him being present, made her feel like everything will be fine. Her Allah miyan has bought him into her life for a reason. He was her destiny, that was her belief. After some time, they returned to their room. Zoya offered to warm up his food but he had told her he ate at the office.

The next morning, Zoya had woken up earlier than Asad. He was in the shower as she stood in front of the mirror brushing her wet hair when she saw her husband walk out dressed in a black pants and white shirt. She smiled at him through the mirror. He walked up to her and stooped to place his chin on her shoulder. Wrapping his hands around her waist, "aaj toh tumara paas aasaktha hoon, maine na bhi liya hai," he teased nuzzling her shoulder with his nose. "Uss din toh aapko problem solving karna tha aur aaj meri yaad aagayi," she said with mock anger. He smiled, "tum saach mein theek hona?" Asad asked. He could see how Zoya's lips lost the smile. Asad stood up and turned her around. "Kya pareshaani hai Zoya? Mujhe tumari fikar horahi hai," he said honestly. "Mr. Khan...woh baat yeh hai keh kal main...maine pre...," Zoya was speaking when a noise from downstairs interrupted them. "Itni subhe kya horaha hai?" Asad wondered as he moved away from her and stood straight. "Paata nahi...kuch tension lagthi...chaliye," Zoya said as they both bolted to the door. As they climbed down the stairs, they both saw the rest of the family in the living room with someone on the floor begging in front of Rashid and Dilshad. They couldn't see who it was as the person's back was facing them. Zoya turned to Asad with questioning eyes. Asad just nodded his head not knowing what was going on. They both reached the living room and joined the family. Zoya could see everyone's tensed faces. "Tum please uto," Rashid said to the girl on the floor. "Nahi Khalo...jab tak aap hume maaf nahi karenge toh hum yaha se nahi utenge," the person said. "Maine kaha uto," Rashid said frustrated. The person stood up and turned. Zoya saw a girl in her mid-late 20s in a yellow chudidar with her head clad with the dupatta. Zoya turned to Nikhat who was standing next to her, "yeh kaun hai Bhabhi?" she asked in a hushed tone. "Tanveer!" Nikhat replied still looking at the new arrival of that morning. Zoya felt her heart freeze at the name. This was her. The girl who has caused so much pain to her Mr. Khan and the family. She turned to her right to see Asad. His face was pale as he had just seen a ghost. His eyes were red with the tensed blood flow and his temples were scrunched up in anger. She saw his hands clustered into a fist. Zoya felt her throat dry up. She was afraid of what he would do. She wrapped her hand around his fist. Asad felt his body boil when the uninvited guest had turned revealing their face. How dare she? How dare she come here after what she had done? When he felt a hand on top of his, he turned to see her. She told him to relax but his mind didn't want to react to her words. "Abu...kya karahi hai yeh yaha par?" he asked furious. "Hum yaha maafi maangne aaye hai, Allah keh waaste hume maaf kardijiye," Tanveer said. "Abu yeh yaha kya karahi hai?" Asad asked glaring at Rashid. "Asad hum sirf baat karahe hai," Rashid told him. "Abhi baat karna bhaki hai," Asad stated sarcastically. "Khalo please Allah keh waaste humari baat maan lijiye. Hum kaha jayenge. Aabh toh Abu bhi nahi rahe, humara jeena bahut mushkil hogaya hai," Tanveer pleaded with tears in her eyes. "Dekho Tanveer agar tum chati ho toh main tume kohi paise deh saktha hai usse badkar main kuch nahi karsaktha," Rashid said. "Khala please aap hi kahiye...aur Khalo aap aur mere Abu toh bachpan keh dost haina. Mere liye nahi toh Abu kehliye sahi, please!" Tanveer tried one more time. Rashid was confused. He didn't know what to do. He of course couldn't let Tanveer live in their house but his friend. Tanveer's father Waseem Querishi was and will be a dear friend. A year after Tanveer had left them and ran away with whoever it was, Waseem had become extremely sick. Rashid had lost his best friend in his arms wailing for his daughter at his last breath. "Theek hai...tume thode din kehliye yaha reha sakthi ho," Rashid sighed. Everyone looked at him beyond shocked. "Aap yeh kya keha rahe hai Rashid," Dilshad said, worried what Tanveer was going to do now with her son and family. Asad's eyes pierced through his dad's. "Jammy...hume umeed hai keh aap bhi hume...," Tanveer said when Asad put his palm up in the air, "don't you dare!" he yelled. He jerked his hand out of Zoya's and rushed out of there as everyone stood watching Asad's retreating figure.

So...Now what? lol. I know you guys are not going to be happy with Tanveer's entry. But, let the story play out. So far, the story has focused on Asya's inner struggles and how they have worked to overcome that. Now, its going to focus on outer forces/people/villains haha will affect Asya and their relationship. Thanks for reading always! Can't wait to see your comments 😃

Salaam Afreen ...😊

Thanx for the P.M...😛
Well an interesting twist in the lovley tale of ASYA...😊
Tanveer😡😡😡 even the name is enough for creating misunderstandings , feuds and problems anywhere...🤬
If Zoya is not expecting...then was all those vomiting and all were bad health or something else...😕 ' then there is that letter from Humeira...which is still their under their bed......now all these insecurities ...of Zoya...and as if these were not enough that WITCH🐷 has to enter in their lives...🤢
I don't want Asad to go back again in his shell...after her entry...I have a felling that their will be arguments between ASYA ...as Asad will be angry...but as you mentioned now they have to fight the outer forces....and it will be interesting to see how they pass this out...👍🏼
So was this the only problem which made Rashid worried during the party...🤔
But ASYA moments were MashaALLAH here...👏
All and All a Wonderful , Well written & brilliant part...👏👏👏⭐️⭐️
Continue soon...😃
