Someone Wanted To Shoot Gautami By Media Curry News Bureau Avg Rating >>

Gautami Gadgill Kapoor, once upon a time ruled the television scene with her highly popular soap Ghar Ek Mandir. Now, she is back gain and with completing over 2 months as Tulsi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, we can surely say id doing pretty damn well!

Besides TV, she has also been double dancing in movies like her latest Fanna, Bhindaast, Kuch Na Kaho etc.

Gautami talks to Mediacurry about post 2 months on KSKBT, about this woman who wanted to shoot her for being Tulsi and of all, that one quality no one know about her – Gautami claims to be the most hyperactive soul.

1. KSKBT is your come back serial and now even Ram has got into it, so how do you feel?

What more could I ask for? But we don't really share any screen together if you must have observed. And yes I do look forward to shoot with him and I might too. As after Ghar Ek Mandir I haven't shot with Ram. Both of us have grown as actors so we would definitely shoot together.

2. You got all the appreciation for playing Tulsi, but were their any disagreements from the audiences, not even one?

Well, my work is being appreciated thorugh TRPs. But in public places the most popular reaction I get is, 'Oh my God! You look so young!' (Laughs). But yes there is this women who met my mom at some family function and she told her to convey to me that she is a regular follower of KSKBT and she hated the fact that I came on the show and she wanted to shoot me for it!

3. We all know you are very happy with the role now, but what was your first reaction when you were offered the role of Tulsi?

My first reaction probably was instant happiness coming from the fact that I am going back to work. So more than KSKBT it was 'work' that took me to high spirits. And obviously Tulsi was icing on the cake. But the minute the media came in I realised the magnitude of the role I was to play and the pressure I am going to be under. And I never knew it would be like this and I would be scrutinised so very closely.

4. You were missing from he acting scene for quite some time, how does it feel being back in the grind? Any apparent changes?

My last show on TV was Lipstick in 2005, so I haven't been out for so long, just two years. But people remember me more from Ghar Ek Mandir so they think it's a really long break. But still 2 years is quiet long when it comes to transitions.

Television right now is going through a major revolution and lot of attention is being given to sets and costumes than 2 years back. TV actors are being very highly paid and well looked after now. Even the level of professionalism in work has gone high up.

5. Talking about a change, we saw many TV actors talking about this transition in genres of serials, shows with more logic and sense are on the rise and emotions are going to go out, do you agree?

No, I don't completely agree to it. There are still almost 98% shows completely based on emotions if you see. We are still a long long way from such logical stuff. Though I agree that the seeds are being sown.

6. After motherhood, this is like your first venture right? So how is it handling home and profession both together?

Its kind of tough, but I thoroughly enjoy both my roles and its not getting me down in anyway. I am just happy I am back.

7. We have heard that some time in the peak of your career and around your sabbatical you were to go back to studies and do psychology and child counselling?

Yes, there was a time I wanted to go back to studies. Because I was in the field for very very long and all had come to me very easily and without any struggle I dint realise its importance. But then absence of my work made me realise that this is where I belong. So I just had to come back.

8. Don't you feel uncomfortable with the comparisons between you and Smriti?

Well I accepted that comparisons are going to be there and I just have enjoy my work, be happy with it and not think about anything else.

9. Any other projects?

No ways. I am not even thinking or looking at anything else. My priorities do lie towards my family. And Tulsi is a huge role and I don't want to divert my attention to anything else and end up messing everything I have.

10. Is that the reason you and Ram refused Nach Baliye?

Actually, my hours are very workable for Nach Baliye but Ram is really working round the clock. And it would be unfair to him to ask for hours. We too ka decesion jointly that if we are taking part in a show like Nach Baliye we have to be well-prepared so that we don't end up looking like fools on the show but end up looking decent. So it was a mutual decision.

11. Made appearances in two movies, Bhindaast, Kuch Na Kaho, and Fanna, how did it happen?

Bhindaast was completely my film and it won a lot of awards so it was big fun. Kuch Na Kaho I did because I love dancing and there was this dance like sequence for me in there. And Abhishek Bachchan is total prankster on set so it was real fun. Fanna I did for friend Kunal Kohli, he told me that it's actually no role at all but you won't be disappointed with the outcome. And I was doing anything at all at that time so I took it up. Yash Raj is a fantastic production house to work with and I will always do a role if they have something for me.

12. Are you slowly and steadily turning towards Bollywood?

It's more of satisfaction thing for me. So it's just about good roles and not about TV or Films.

13. What's your take on Ram's weight loss?

He has now lost 10 to 12 kgs. It has to go slow and steady so that it stays on. And I like it as future health problems are being eliminated with the weight loss.

14. What difference did you see between the two screens of movie and television?

In films you just come in to a movie once and then you just come across in publicity stints. You are bombarded on people's minds everyday. So actors are remembered far more.

Also a lot of preparation goes into making a film, workshops, sound rehearsals and all wheareas in TV you have to be very fast. You arrive on sets and they give a 20-page description sheet out which 18 pages you just have to talk! You are just shooting like a machine there.

15. Winding it up, tell us something about Gautami that we don't know?

I am a super-sensitive person and cry on the drop of a hat. And I am very very hyper (giggles). People think I am very calm and mature but that's not so. I am very loud in my personal life and very energetic and bubbly types.

seriously people can be so emotional that they can convey a message like this via a mother that's so rude..........how must gautami's mom feeling....so sad...but whatever it is though no doubts smriti is damn good beyond comparison but Gautami is very suttle and i like the way she is playing the role with a no loud appearence...doing natural way.....
